Tropical Beet Smoothie with macadamia nuts! It’s healthy, creamy, delicious, and fruity. Our favorite endurance boosting drink, full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fats. Perfect tropical drink recipe for summer too!
Can I let you in on a little confession? Um.. we have a serious smoothie consumption problem. No really, our blender is on it’s last leg. But I must say, it’s ridiculously hot here in the summer and with the kiwi taking on more coaching and one on one training outdoors, the best way to get in good nutrients and keep him (us) hydrated is by drinking smoothies. All the live long day. haha!
Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit. We don’t live on smoothies alone, but they are a serious MUST come Texas summer. In fact, many of my husband’s athletes will ask me for smoothie recipes because they can’t seem to get enough good calories or nutrients in along with their training come summer. They are up early to train to beat the high heat but are still effected by the crazy humidity! Plus they stay out later with friends, family, etc. Life is BUSY and full of activity!
Being active and outside enjoying summer and training is a good thing, but with all that comes the EXTRA need for support. Just like in winter, when our bodies need immunity boosting and Vitamin D, the summer season brings in a whole new need of nutrients for the body. Like minerals to replenish electrolytes, Vitamin C for overall health, and natural occurring nitrates (like the ones found in beet root) to support oxygen to those BUSY BODY muscles.
You see where I am going with this?
Another POWERFUL purposeful smoothie! We call this Tropical Beet Smoothie the “ultimate Endurance Booster!”
Let’s get the nitty gritty now and dissect each ingredient, mmm k?
What’s in this Tropical Beet Smoothie Recipe and WHY?
- Beet Juice – contain nitrates, which your body converts to nitric oxide. Nitric Oxide is a molecule that can enhance blood flow and blood vessel dilation. Hence why it’s great for ENDURANCE!
- Banana – Good carbs, glycogen, and potassium (minerals needed electrolyte balance)
- Fresh Squeezed Orange or Pineapple Juice- Vitamin C
- Coconut oil – MCT fats great for metabolism and instant energy. More about that in this post.
- Macadamia nuts or nut butter – rich source of monounsaturated fats. These are the healthy fats that are great for heart health. Macadamia nuts are also rich in minerals like Vitamin B1, Copper, and Manganese. Another reason we really love macadamia nuts or oil is that it has a low oxidation rate, compared to other nuts and oils. It’s a mighty fine fat! In fact, new research has found that macadamia nut oil can actually help reduce inflammation. See source here and here.
- Bonus talk —> Something this pretty just has to be good for you, right? I mean, look at that COLOR!
Done with my nerdy nutrition talk? Ya, me too.

Now excuse me while I go try to clean the beet juice up from my white shirt. Whoops!
Cheers,
That color! Beets are a fav of mine for juicing– and I’ve tried putting raw beets in smoothies and not liked the pulpy texture– but beet juice, that’s a great idea 🙂
★★★★★
I am in love with the colors of this smoothie and can’t wait to try it! We go through a lot of blenders too but it’s worth it!
Gorgeous!!!
This looks am amazing and something that would help my body currently! Do you juice your own beets or do you get a certain type/brand that you prefer?!
I agree, smoothies are the best when the right ingredients are chosen. Since we got our new kitchen robot a couple of months ago, we also seem to be doing smoothies more and more.
It is such a treat, and we like it
Lovely recipe! I so need to actually try and make a beet juice smoothie like this, we get such amazing freshly grown beets in the shops here.
Stunning photography Lindsay. 🙂
★★★★★
I like beets, but haven’t cooked with them at home yet (can you believe it?!). This smoothie looks delicious. I enjoy all kinds of smoothies, and have been really into kale, banana, strawberry, blueberry ones lately.
Mmm that mac nut butter in this sounds amazing!! I also pretty much live off of smoothies…nothing wrong with it, in my opinion 😉
yay, smoothie sisters unite!
So vibrant! I love beets and have been trying to remember to eat them more often. I know that sounds silly, but I tend to forget about them. I’ve never tried beet juice itself though. But
I know, me too! I think you should try roasting or grilling them. I have a feeling you’d love
Delicious beets and such a beautiful color. What a great combination of ingredients Lindsay! Yum
i agree! i love that pink, just not on my clothes. haha
I am so in love with beets right now and the color is amazing!
Love the coconut oil in this – can’t wait to try!!
I have to say I LOVE your nerdy nutrition talk 🙂
This smoothie looks awesome, the colour is just beautiful and I bet it is so refreshing in the humidity! I am loving the addition of macadamia. I had some macadamia butter recently but it didn’t hang around long, that stuff is so good!
send one myyyyyyy way!
If I lived where you are I’d be having smoothies all the time too! LOVE the color of beet anything. Great pics too!! And I’m popping over to grab the immunity booster one. I really need it! 🙂 (And I haven’t had brekki yet so hoping I have what I need to make it!)

That color is out of this world! I’m a little scared of beet juice, but this looks so pretty it has to be good, right?!

Beets are so great and I need to get more of them in my life. Thanks for sharing!
amen to that friend!
Ugh…it’s been so hot here too. I hardly want to eat anything.Smoothies and ice cream is all I’ve been able to stomach lately.
i dont think i’ve had macadamia nuts outside of the Subway cookies, but this sure is a good place to start!! i love how pink the drink gets as well – so pretty
I love beets in smoothies – and the pretty color! I need to make one without spinach one day so they don’t all look baby poo green. LOL!
I love macadamia nuts but have never tried them in a smoothie. I have tried them about 1000 times in white chocolate cookies though. =)
well at least you got your healthy fats from there, right? LOL! maybe subway needs beet cookies next
I’m not a huge beet person but when combined with the right (fruity) ingredients I can totally get on board!
my food twin! xxoo
You know I love me some beets – and this smoothie is so refreshing and nutrient dense – like a big huge warm hug!
I love beets but, even if I didn’t, I would force myself to make things with them because of the color! 😉
Yep, confession, it’s why i eat them too!
Can’t beet that color, it’s beautiful!
bahaha, i love your punny ways
The color of this is amazing!
it is, unless it gets on your shirt. ha
Beet smoothies are always the prettiest smoothies EVER! I WISH I liked beets more 🙁
but you are the veggie girl!!! haha
I know… so wrong, right? I guess we can’t like them all! 😉
I don’t have a blender right now but I did burn out on smoothies from too many in my 30s & 40s. Maybe again if I get a blender. That beet one looks amazing!
haha mine has broke several time already
I can’t even imagine how you deal with the Texan heat. I complain about the heat here, and it’s probably not even anything close to what you guys have down there. But smoothies have been a lifesaver for me as well. Sometimes they’re the only thing that sounds good when the heat completely robs me of my appetite.
okay, i am coming to see you then. I need out of this heat wave! will you bake me cookies?
I just happen to be sipping on a beet smoothie right now, so you know I am on board with this!
ahh cheers friend!
I love all things beets! Now if I could get Dan to eat some beets, that would be amazing! Perhaps, he’ll go for this!
Great idea to put Mac nuts in there! And it is beautiful! Pinned!
This looks so refreshing! I love macademia nuts but haven’t tried the oil yet. I like to add a little MCT to my shakes for a boost sometimes.
I’m happy to see you made two – 1 for you and 1 for me! 🙂 Think you could replace the beet juice with an actual beet? I buy them at Costco and would love to try this!
Beets make anything look gorgeous, I bet it tastes fabulous too! Cheers to purposeful smoothies.
If your life is a narration of many smoothies, is mine a narration of many ice creams?
yep, that is totally legit
“Life is a narration of many smoothies” ..
yeah life is like smoothie has many ingredients in it but only one colour..
★★
we are so so all all SMOOOTHIES all the time here now.
and the beet? ID BEEN AFRAID.
it must be time to BEET IT just BEET IT.
I can completely see why you’d want smoothies all the time in your climate! Looks so refreshing! Also I love macadamia nuts and butter but haven’t tried the oil.
