Frozen Peanut Butter Superfood Smoothie Bowls! SUPER POWER vegan smoothie bowls blended extra thick and creamy with frozen berries, coconut oil, and peanut butter. Gluten Free smoothie bowls will leave you energized, full, and nourished. Great for kids, adults, and all!
Here’s a confession. This is the second every smoothie bowl I’ve EVER made. GASP! My first being this chai Turmeric chia smoothie bowl. Which oddly, looks like soup. Either way, we’re kind smoothie bowl newbies, but that’s totally about to change.
You see, for years we’ve had breakfast ON THE GO or a QUICK smoothie after a hard training session, post workout, etc. There was NO time to eat a smoothie from a bowl. NO, nada. We ain’t got no time for spoons. Haha. We just needed calories and nourishment and free hands to keep us multitasking or driving. Ugh, that sounds so busy body, but it’s the truth. No time no time no time. And you know what? I don’t like that. WE don’t like that. Eating so hurried can be hard on digestion. Not that there is anything wrong with sipping a smoothie, it’s the SLURPING it in a hurry that doesn’t help.
Can you relate? Maybe you get a little indigestion or stomach ache after gulping down a smoothie. That’s probably all due to the way you ate it. Fast and furious! Been there, guilty.
So this got me thinking. Maybe this smoothie bowl trend is going to force us to slow down. Maybe it will allow us to sit and savor the flavor, resulting in more nutrients being absorbed. A little rest and digest while we spoon… spoon the smoothie that is. 😉
That being said, I’m going to fully support the year of the bowl! Smoothie bowl, power bowls, noodle bowls, breakfast bowls, SUPER bowls (not to being confused with the super bowl, but an actual bowl of super duper goodness).
Get my point? Bowls are where it’s at for health! And maybe our society needs to um… Spoon up! I know, I’m punny.
So how do you make a smoothie bowl that you can actually eat with a spoon? Well, that was a tough one for me. I had to play around with a lot of different mixtures and thicknesses, but I think finally found a pretty cool way to bulk up our smoothie bowl recipes.
Replace those ice cubes with a blend of frozen food and liquid. Or in this case, I took frozen peanut butter and coconut oil and froze it into cubes. –> which makes it thick and creamy.
Then I blended it together with SUPERFOOD berries! —> This makes it tart give it a little more bulk!
Then you need to smooth it out with a little natural gel or thickening agent. Hence the chia seed and a bit of Better Body Foods SuperFOOD protein!!!
Now you have one SPOON-TASTIC Frozen Peanut Butter SuperFood Smoothie Bowl!

Hi there. This recipe looks great. Can you please advise what the IRON count is in this recipe? I got it from a link found in your weekly GF “Iron Rich” meal plan, but I need to count my total iron intake based on the amount consumed…need to report it to my doc, so have this count per dish/meal, is very important.
Thanks a bunch!!
I’ll double check this and get back to you right away.
I got anywhere between 4-5mg Iron (23-25%). It just depends on the protein you use as well. Most pea protein has higher iron sources.
I love how you keep it real! 😉 Slurping = bloat for me, so I always like to spoon. Mmm. This looks so pretty, and freezing pb? Genius!
Yes! Haha lessons learned from the slurp
Oh my gosh! This smoothie bowl looks perfect! I’m freaking out over that beautiful color! Also, frozen peanut butter with coconut oil?!? What a genius idea!! Thanks sharing!! <3
xoxo Cailee!

Looks amazing and simply delicious! Smoothie bowl dates need to be a thing, I’m going to start my own trend, hey when are you free for a smoothie bowl date I’d love to pencil you in!
My meals are on serious repeat over here with smoothie and muesli bowls… switching thing up is trying to have eggs or fish for dinner which isn’t happening often. This past weekend (long weekend here) we managed to have pizza 2 nights and nachos/taco salads 2 nights and only 1 smoothie bowl, 2 muesli bowls, and a whole lot of wine and popcorn. Now back to the repeat and grind… I attempted to make dinner last night and the girls polished off 3 lbs of roasted brussels before we got the rest of the dinner finished (there were lots of interruptions).
haha i just love your girls and YOU!
YUM!! I am totally embracing the year of the bowl! Such a genius idea to freeze the coconut oil and peanut butter.
i knew you’d approve! yay!
Hold the phone: PB and coconut oil? Genius, my friend!! I hope I remember to try this, because it’s such a neat and tasty trick!
totally try it! i’m hooked!
haha its so funny that you mention that, because recently i have been thinking about waking up earlier to have time to eat smoothie bowls!! Usually i just make a smoothie and drink it as i get ready because its quick and efficient. So anyway – GREAT MINDS!
Also loving your idea of using frozen peanut butter. Definitely gonna try that out
WHAT is this SUPERFOOD PROTEIN POWDER I see! MUST check it out… Try it and… bathe in it!
What a great combination! You know how much I love smoothie bowls and now I am off the whole 30 and relaxing the rules they give you, they have made a grand entrance back into my life! Frozen fruit and little liquid is key for a thick and creamy ice cream like one. And then lots of toppings makes it soooo good! I know what you mean by indigestion when you slurp and drink a smoothie too fast I always did that in a rush at work and I always felt so sick! Eating the smoothie from the bowl helps your body realise your eating too I think!!
Yes! And now you can have a little peanut butter! Haha. Are you feeling better?
I’ve been obsessed with smoothie bowls for this exact reason. I can sit down and enjoy it. I love using chia to make my smoothies super thick, but this coconut oil and peanut butter trick is a must try!!
Yes! Let’s have a smoothie bowl breakfast date
I can NOT stop staring at these pictures!! These are THE prettiest smoothie bowls I have ever seen in my entire life. LOVE the color combo. Seriously stunning. xo

My smoothie bowl mind is blown! I love the idea of freezing the pB and coconut, I can’t wait to try this out.
Genius my friend, as always 🙂
But it looks like you’re having some pretty amazing fruit bowls already. I’m loving your Instagram posts
Seriously love that hack of freezing coconut oil and pb together and I can only imagine how creamy and delicious that makes the smoothie! Also, eating smoothies in bowls in the best thing that ever happened because it takes so much longer to eat and you get to add ALL the toppings 🙂
OMG i think you’d love Rachel!!!
Look at that color!! And the fact that you topped it with peanut butter makes it even better 🙂 So excited about this recipe!
YEA! love the drizzle, right?!
You’re a genius!!!! Very clever you!!!! Love the color!!!!
These look SO amazing – and I am loving that peanut butter swirl…. YUUUUUUMMMMM!
It was kinda my favorite part haha
Ha my entire Instagram is full of smoothie bowls. I just get an idea and then throw stuff together. So far my favorite has been a vanilla beet protein smoothie bowl. MMMM. To thicken them up I either add banana, chia seeds, avocado, or less liquid.
and i love them! youre my bowl inspiration! haha
YUMMMMM I want!!! love the idea of freezing pb & coconut oul!
I so thought of you!
I absolutely love this and you! This bowl sounds like heaven to me and I will definitely be trying it.. though I might wait until it’s a bit warmer than 10 degress outside 😉

Frozen PB Cubes. MIND. BLOWN. Totally trying this! Looks so soothing and delicious!
let’s add beer to it next. haha
Frozen pb is such a good idea- why have I never tried that? My girls would devour these along with me for sure.
I bet you have thought of it. Subconsciously hehe
Oh. My. Gawd. This is only the second every smoothie bowl you’ve made?! I eat one of these literally almost every day. f course, you had to be smarter than me right off the bat and freeze PB to thicken it. Duh. Try it with sweet potato too… awesome sweetener/thickener. Trust. Mwah!
Frozen cooked potato? Genius bro
I am so guilty of being a gulper! And multitasking while I eat. Bad habits all around. I am super intrigued by that protein blend- I’m off to check them out!
Smoothie bowl pinned for later!
I think we all have. Right? Slurpies are to blame haha
Frozen!!!! Well the thicker and more frozen the better but I guess you really want ME to freeze right now as it’s like -3483287 degrees outside 😛 Hahaha! I guess I’ll just bundle up 😉
It’s like 85F here today! So weird
I don’t have much time for sitting and spooning a smoothie most weekdays – but now the weekend is a different animal – and this gorgeous smoothie bowl would sure come in handy!
So maybe we can start a smoothie bowl Saturday tradition
I’m not sure what kind of kick I am on right now…Whatever kick that is, it always involves a spoonful of Nuttzo EVERY morning…Looks delicious as always…XOXO
This is beautiful and uhhhh I need to start freezing PB! That’s kind of genius.
Freeze your Nutella!! Omg yummm
“We ain’t got no time for spoons.” <– *eyes fill up with tears*
I totally hear you on the gulping, though! I used to be super guilty of doing that as well, and the bloat was real! See? We all need some spoons in our lives 😛
okay, i almost mentioned you there. I mean –> WE ALWAYS NEED SPOONS! Like you.. <3
That’s such a great idea to freeze the PB in little cubes! Genius!
And these are about the prettiest bowls I’ve ever seen…love that PB drizzle!!
haha what we do for pretty pictures, right? LOL!
Frozen coconut oil and PB? Genius!!
they are so good!
Great idea to freeze the PB! looks yummy and pretty much warm enough in ATX for me to eat (usually I’m on a smoothie break until Spring)
i know, i’m sad. I kinda miss cold weather. but then again i’m not running. LOL!
I’m a gulper. Which means I never feel satisfied, and then I feel bloated with a water baby and over satisfied because I had the smoothie and then ate something else. Totally happened this weekend! I like the idea of slowing it down. And well, this just sounds delicious!
yep been there. smoated…. smoothie bloated. LOL!
Your drizzle game is on point my friend!
I’m fascinated by the combination of PB and berries. This looks lovely. I’ll go grab my spoon.
i practiced the drizzle –> true story.
Haha you sound like Amanda. Spoons is always on point. Love you
I’m thinking about a smoothie. It’s supposed to be 90 here this week. It is much too early for that kind of heat but I’ll take many of these in exchange!
noooo!!!! it’s going be 85F and i’m sad.
I love a good smoothie bowl! When it warms up here, I will be back to making them. This one is perfect for me.
totally thought of you and all your yogurt creations!! haha
I think you’ve just unlocked the mystery of why smoothies never seemed to work for me! I’m definitely a gulper! Actually anything with a lot of volume gives me a problem so I’m guilty of needing to slow down. Looks almost too pretty to eat!
girl,i can so relate! that’s why real food help too, right?
