Wine Slushies with Summer Fruit!

What do you get when you blend summer produce, mint, honey, and a crisp white wine with friends and loved ones on a warm summer evening? If you said pure happiness, gold star for you!

You see friends, happiness is really is homemade, something you, yourself, create. It’s mixing up a little healthier-for-you cocktail with your closest pals, truly savoring and embracing those little moments of absolute bliss.

Ingredients & Substitutes

Fresh summer produce and just a few other ingredients are all you need to make this white wine slushie recipe.

flat lay of wine cocktail ingredients- white wine bottle, melon in a bowl, mint, sliced wine, and club soda
  • Honeydew Melon: Use ripe honeydew for the best natural sweetness. If it smells fragrant and gives slightly when pressed, it’s ready.
  • Mint Leaves– Spearmint is ideal, but peppermint works too—just use a little less since it’s stronger.
  • White Wine (Chardonnay or similar): A crisp, dry white wine like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, or Pinot Grigio balances the sweetness of the melon and honey.

Pro Tip: Chill the wine beforehand to keep the texture frosty when blended.

  • Lime – Always use fresh lime juice—bottled just doesn’t hit the same. Zest the lime before juicing if you want extra citrusy flavor or garnish.
  • Sparkling Water– Stick to plain or coconut-flavored sparkling water to complement the melon.
  • Honey– Adds floral notes that complement the melon beautifully. Use less if your melon is very ripe or you’re using a sweeter wine. Agave or maple syrup can also work, but note that they each bring their own flavor.

Mocktail Ingredient Swaps – Making a non-alcoholic version of this summer drink is so easy! Substitute the white wine for apple juice, sparkling apple cider, kombucha, non-alcoholic wine, or sparkling white grape juice. All are equally refreshing!

How to Make Melon Wine slushieS

Much like a frosé, this white wine cocktail recipe comes together with just a few easy steps to ensure the best flavor and texture every time. See the recipe card for exact measurements.

  1. Prep Your Melon. Start by cutting your honeydew in half, scooping out the seeds, and slicing off the rind. Then, cut the flesh into cubes or scoop into melon balls—about 1 to 2-inch pieces work best.

  1. Chill. Place the cubed melon in the fridge for at least 3 hours if you prefer a soft, sippable slushie. For a thicker drink, freeze the melon cubes for at least 45 minutes before blending.
  2. Blend It All Together. Add your chilled melon, white wine, sparkling water, fresh lime juice, mint leaves, and honey into a high-speed blender. Blend on high until smooth and slushie-like.

Note: If your blender struggles with frozen fruit, let the melon sit at room temp for 5–10 minutes before blending, or add a splash more wine or water to loosen it up.

  1. Taste then Chill Until Serving. Taste and adjust as needed—add a little more honey for sweetness or lime juice for extra brightness. Then serve the slushies right away or transfer the mixture to a pitcher or container and store it in the fridge for 1–2 hours to let the flavors combine

  1. Garnish and Serve. Pour the slushies into chilled glasses and garnish with a few fresh mint leaves and a thin slice of lime. Serve immediately for the most refreshing results!
  2. Store leftover slushie mix in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give it a good stir or quick blend before serving, as the ingredients may naturally separate.

Make ahead Slushie Cubes

An easy way to batch prep or make this drink ahead of time is to make slushie cubes. To do so, blend the full recipe and freeze the mixture in ice cube trays. When ready to serve, add the cubes to a blender with a splash of sparkling water or wine and blend until smooth. Pour into cocktail glasses then garnish with mint and lime.

  • 10–12 ounces Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, or other crisp white wine (see notes for Mocktail substitutes)
  • 10 ounces sparkling water or tonic water
  • Juice of one lime
  • 4–5 mint leaves plus extra to garnish
  • Honey or maple syrup (for vegan option), to taste
  • Lime slices to garnish

  1. Slice the honeydew in half, discard seeds and slice off the rind. Then, cut the flesh into cubes or scoop into melon balls—about 1 to 2-inch pieces.
  2. Place 1½ to 2 cups of melon in a bowl and chill in the fridge for 3–4 hours or in the freezer for 30–45 minutes.
  3. Once chilled, add the melon, wine, sparkling beverage, lime juice, mint leaves, and honey to a high-speed blender (or use a handheld blender). Blend until slushy or smooth.
  4. Store in the refrigerator (or freezer) until ready to serve.

Wine slushies are the best thing ever in the summer. They’re not bad in the fall, winter, or spring either! I love the use of honey dew melon in there- so delicious!

You know you don’t have to ask me twice to have a cocktail! I’ve been on an Aperol Spritz kick lately… I need to shake it up. Lokve the mint in this – it’s such a refreshing flavor in this heat.

This is a perfect refreshing drink, even as a mocktail. Love the idea of sparkling cider but even more, I’ll have to try with kombucha!!!
