Well, I think I am on a baking roll here. We finally have cooler weather, some might even say “fall-ish.” That means the smell of fresh-baked cookies, bread, and rolls are a necessity, right?
First up, cheesy Gluten Free/Yeast Free rolls. I love these. No I did not make them from scratch. I bought them in the freezer section. They are Brazilian Tapioca Cheesy Rolls and my oh my are they good. Sarena has a homemade version that I am sure is even better.
Speaking of Sarena. This woman inspires me in the kitchen. Love her! And I love her Gluten Free Biscuit Recipe. I made my own quick fix ROLL version (without yeast) with a few fresh herbs.

So now we have an abundance of GF rolls in the house. All I am missing is a sweet kind. Hmmm, maybe I should make some GF scones to even it out, eh?
On a whole other note, good luck to all those racing this weekend. I know Jess is on Sunday! We also have friends/athletes in town for the Austin 70.3 Ironman. The hubs was suppose to race this, but of course he is still healing, so we are going to cheer on our friends. Why? Because everyone needs a cheerleader. That I am sure of!
Who’s your cheerleader? If you don’t have one, I’ll designate myself.
Alright, are you done with my cheesiness? Awww, never!
Cheers,
LC
p.s.
I made these as written. They looked and tasted like the biscuits I made as a kid when I would randomly toss ingredients into a bowl, but these managed to be drier. There must be an essential moisture element missing.

Hi renee! This is an old recipe we plan redoing and updating. Thanks for calling it to our attention. You probably need a buttermilk/yogurt or more oil/butter to make these. We will definitely redo and keep you posted!
If you need another yeast free bread/roll recipe (until ours is updated), we do have a GF potato bread recipe https://www.cottercrunch.com/homemade-gluten-free-potato-bread/
Or my friend gluten free on a shoestring has a GF roll recipe! https://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/yeast-free-gluten-free-dinner-rolls/
How much oil or butter?
Thank you….
Sorry this is an old recipe I need to update. I think it’s 1/2 c but not certain. This recipe was adapted from my good friend Sarena. Her recipe is here if you want to check it out! http://www.thenondairyqueen.com/search?q=tapioca+flour
Hi–these sound yummy but I want to be sure before trying them that they are rolls and not biscuits. It looks like the older comments call them “biscuits” and the newer ones “rolls”–but they are two very different things! And the photo attached to the recipe looks much more like biscuits than rolls. Could you clarify? Thanks.
Hey there Ricki! This recipe is almost 10 years old. EEK! I need to update it. It’s a yeast free roll recipe. So you could make them into biscuits. LOL! It was inspired by my friend’s gluten free biscuit recipe. Honestly, it needs a retest and an update! Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Hi, Lindsey! I made these rolls today using coconut flour, sweet rice flour, and chickpea flour. You recipe doesn’t say how much oil/fat to add, but I added 1/2 tbsp of ghee to it (cuz I didn’t think it wa 1/2 cup….haha). Mine turned out quite hard, but I think it is delicious!! Thank you for the recipe!!
i think it’s the brown rice flour, makes them a little hard. I’d try half tapioca next time. But glad they worked!!!
Aaah! So fun! And amazing food, of course. 🙂 My cheerleaders are my beautiful blog friends (including you, lovely!), my Kiwi, and my parents. I feel so lucky and supported and grateful! <3 xyx PS: Cheesiness rocks – keep it up, lol! 😛
Pass me the butter!! You are everyone’s cheerleader, no doubt. I am fortunate to have amazing family and friends, and a community here filled with AMAZING people like yourself.
Hope you had fun at the race:)
you mean pass you the marmite! haha, have the brits converted you over to a marmite fan yet?
And yes, I think YOU are an amazing cheerleader to your family. They are lucky to have YOU! thank you for such encouragement nichole.
Oooh the rolls looks amazing! Great recipe! I need to put millet and tapioca flour on my shopping list =)
let me know how you like them Lisa. Millet is one of my new favorites to use!
These biscuits look great, I love anything w/ cheese so I’m sure I’d devour these!
bread and cheese just belong together, oh and they don’t even taste gluten free!
Cheering for races is one of my favorite things to do ever!
Those cheese rolls sound great, btw!
and you are one fabulous cheerleader! NYC marathon is lucky to have you. WOO!
Any interest in adding “MCM Cheerleader” to your events list? 😉
The first roll reminds me of those cheesy/garlic-y rolls from Red Lobster. Growing up in New Mexico (ahem, desert), I had no idea that RL wasn’t qualified as “real” seafood by the most standards, haha. Now I’d just go there for the cheesy goodness.
i was obsessed with those garlic cheese biscuits at RL. And no shame, I thought RL was real seafood too. haha, good thing we know now!
p.s.
I wish I could come cheer you on at MCM so so so very badly!
I don’t cook much with herbs, but I bet the hubby would like it if I did. He’s not a fan of sweets.
add parmesan and he will like them even better!
i agree i love your cheesiness too. sounds like you made some awesome rolls and i bet the house smelled wonderful as they were baking……hope you have a fabulous week girl!
★★★★★
yes, i am pretty sure they are KALLI approved too! So glad you got in some quality time with Bill, sans racing.
🙂
Ooh, both those look so good! I love the sound of the herbs and/or cheese; good GF bread is worth the effort!
Hope you had fun watching the race – and the rugby… bet James is over the moon at the All Blacks’ win 🙂
oh my gosh he is watching the game again!! He is still on RUGBY high!
Yumm, I could definitely go for some biscuits right now! What kind of herbs did you use in them?
i used mediterranean herbs. It was the perfect blend! but I think basil or rosemary alone would be nice.
my mom is my ultimate cheerleader! i love knowing that, no matter what, she has my back & is always in my corner! those rules look great! i bet they’d be good in a sweet version, too!
and I am sure you are hers. You really care for her and your grandparents. I see that in you writing!
Those cheesy biscuits sound delicious!! I haven’t had a biscuit in ages. Now I’m craving one! I definitely agree that you need to make some scones as well… that’s my sweet tooth speaking!
I hope the hubs heals up fast! At the same time, it’s kind of fun to watch from the sidelines when you can’t be part of the action.
yes, you are so right. And you know what, its kinda giving the hubs some closure to this injury. Being able to cheer on others and heal this knee/heart/etc. I know you can relate!
Don’t you worry…I’ll never be done with your cheesiness!! And I don’t think I’ll ever be done with those GF biscuits either…yum! It’s been a long time since I’ve made homemade bread, mainly because when I first went gluten free and tried to bake, I had so many flops! Haha. Oh, the life of a GF baker. (or maybe just me!) 😉
I hope The Hubs is healing well…When will he be able to race again?
Oh, and you should definitely dress up as Jane Fonda! We’ll be twins!
xoxoxo
i know, right? GF baking is all about trial and error. Luckily these are not error. woohoo! And man do I wish we lived closer, Jane Fonda TWINS!
They look so yummy! I can always count on my family to be my cheerleaders. And I love being other people’s cheerleader! Is that really a surprise?!
not at all, and you are fabulous at it. WHat a blessing to have your family there to cheer you on. Feels amazing, doesn’t it?!
Yay for gluten free biscuits (and for Serena!).
My mom is definitely my cheerleader…
i can see that. I can also see that she has made a huge impact on your life. A cheerleader and a number one fan!
Being a cheerleader is the best! You get to feel the excitement and brighten up someone’s moment! 🙂
i couldn’t agree more Jess! I think thats why i love it so much. I am sure you are one heck of a cheerleader!
omgnesssss pao de queijo!!! that stuff is soooo delicious, and I would love to eat it everyday~haha. I totally understand about finally having cooler weather and all, b/c we get it here in cali ONLY sporadically. Today is pretty warm, but yesterday was reallly nice and cool~so crazy! 😛 Have a blessed day, love!
oh so you know!!? Goodness gracious those rolls are addicting. So easy to pop in your mouth. Good for the soul, eh? xoxo
You are both such awesome inspirations to me, so this post made me smile.
I have been yearning for heartier foods lately and these rolls look lovely…maybe pumpkin raisin for a sweet one?
oh pumpkin raisin, that sounds wonderful Lauren. I love your taste!
It’s funny how you call them “biscuits” (we call what you call “cookies,” “biscuits,” if that makes sense) I think it’s my british-influenced NZ upbringing! Confusing, yet fascinating. Doesn’t matter anyway, as they look delish! I haven’t used tapioca flour before, I am intrigued – and anything that functions as a vehicle for MARMITE (or vegemite) works for me 🙂 What kind of pom poms do you favour in your cheering endeavours? xx
James (the hubs) calls his biscuits too. So you can imagine his face when I told him they were cheesy/herb biscuits. haha. The important thing is they are hold vegemite well! You are right!
As for pom poms, i like the big poofy ones.
😉
Can I come over, you bake the biscuits, I’ll bring the jam and we can both cheer each other on?!?!
yes, but it better be homemade jam. We can be like Joey on friends. JAM—–>GOOD!
LOVE Friends…we were destined to be “Friends”. Hope your day is going well! Video of my one handed clapping is up, btw!
mmmmm, can I come over? that all sounds delicious!
yes of course. Cheesy GF rolls were the perfect post run snack. You’d like them!
Thanks for sharing the good find and the yummy recipe! Can’t wait to try both of them out.
and report back when you do!
🙂
I will gladly stop by to help you polish off those cheese rolls with a glass of wine. I will bring the wine!
i’m eating one now! I’ll save the last two. Hurry on over with some wine. WOO!
I dislike the word moist as well!
My grandparents are my cheerleeders!
thats perfect! grandparents are the best cheerleaders. So thoughtful and caring. Happy weekend Heather!
I’m sending cheerleading to everyone racing this weekend, AND to you and James. YOU TWO are inspiring to me, and I’m blessed to know you.
you’re right, Sarena is amazing in the kitchen – it’s COOOLLLLD here this morning, perhaps I need to make these biscuits.
I feel the same way. Blessed to know you and blessed to have MET you! Get those biscuits cookin’ lady. I bet they would be perfect with one of your chilis.
I’m blessed to have found you BOTH!!
I bet you are a fantastic cheerleader! I used to be an actual cheerleader haha…oh I kind of miss cheering for Friday night hs football games :). Have fun!
i was a cheerleader all through high school too. Wow, that was over 10 years ago. Man i am old. haha.
Hehe, love the title of your post given the recipe is for rolls 😉 And yay for cheering Jess on! I will be there in person to do just that and will try to find her and run a bit with her too 🙂
run some extra miles for me too! Sending lots of good strength to you both!
You can be my cheerleader anytime, my friend! I’m sure I will hear your cheering all the way from Austin to Boston tomorrow!! I heart you!
i am gonna send my cheer to boston first thing in the morning. Maybe Jo can catch it and pass it off to you. hehe.
Here recipes always look fantastic don’t they???? No races for me this weekend but we have a friend doing the Austin 70.3. So glad you guys will be going to cheer the racers on!
yes, i will be looking for your friend too! Rest up this weekend cause its your turn next weekend. YEA!
You are on a roll and I have to say Yum to that!
Happy Saturday love! YOU are my cheerleader ; ) ha! I just love that we have so much in common, both just full of positivity and love!
xoxo <3
oh i feel the same way. Great team we got here, eh? xoxo!
My roommate bought yeast rolls this week and they’ve just been talking to me…I swear.
and now I can make my own rolls 🙂
Thats the NINTH event going on in Austin this weekend! Crazyyy! Yay for fall-ish weather :-))))(
no kidding! so much going on. ANd your EPIC MOVE! WOO!!
Oh Lindsay, I love you too! You are such an inspiration! I love your cheesiness! Good luck to your friends! I hope James is doing well and on the road to recovery. Patience is the hardest part in healing, especially when you are someone like us that likes to move. I’m sending so many happy healing thoughts your way! Hugs and kisses too! Have a great weekend my friend!
oh thanks sarena! this brings me such joy! Enjoy the pumpkin patch and good family time this weekend.
