Thanks to Udis Gluten Free for such awesome GLUTEN FREE products and for partnering with us for Bowls recipes week!
And Udis Gluten Free BOWLS Recipes week continues… dun dun nah nah… Gluten free homemade pizza bowls! Yes friends, that would be a bowl of gourmet pizza toppings and a gluten free pizza crust with tomato and garlic for the “scooper.” In other words, your new favorite healthy-ish comfort food savory bowl !
Here’s the truth though. You see, I’m a little picky when it comes to pizza. And I mean picky as in, I pick around, add too, or arrange my toppings. Usually when we buy a gluten free pizza or order one, the topping are either skimpy or just not evenly spread about. Yes, I am picky and OCD.. Haha. But it’s all about the balance of flavors. The only way you can really do that is making it homemade pizza. Right? A little extra goat cheese here or there never hurt. Or maybe you like caramelized onions and extra garlic (with a side of breath mints).
Yes, EVERYONE has their own way. Which is why I thought we ALL need these homemade pizza bowls in our life. You can literally PICK how much of a topping you want of each, where to place it on your pizza crust, and then repeat. Scoop and serve!
Are you excited yet? I hope so. Keep reading. Keep listening. It gets better.
In this specific homemade pizza bowl we have 4 gourmet toppings. 2 I love a lot. 2 the Kiwi loves a lot. We both Like it all. If that makes sense?
You got your goat cheese fans (ME ME ME), and your caramelized onion fans (Kiwi cotter favorite for sure), especially when those onions start to cook and brown.. oh my!
Then we have crumbled chicken sausage and spinach, which we both like equally. But combine that with your goat cheese and caramelized onion and you have what I like to call a FLAVOR BOMB! Or just plain melt in your mouth good!
See where I’m going with this?
The whole point of making homemade pizza bowls is to customize and share! You make all your favorite gourmet toppings. Arrange them in one big bowl or several small bows. Toast your pizza crust, then SCOOP up HOWEVER much topping you want to each.
You can go heavy on the cheese with one scoop, spinach on the next, or heavy on the caramelized onions with every slice and scoop.
Each bite or pizza slice it totally customized! Think of it as tapas meets gluten free pizza meets flatbread of some sort.
No more skimpy toppings ya’ll! And no more trying to arrange the pizza crust so that everyone has like one slice they like. Nope, you can make it BOWL style and save yourself some energy.
Another reason I am really diggin (or scoopin, haha) these pizza bowls is that they require little work.
Picture this… because it really did happen to us. You walk in from a VERY long day, and waiting hours at an appointment, only to realize it’s 8pm. WHAT?!?! How so? MUST MAKE DINNER ASAP!
Chop chop, sauté sauté , then TOAST (yes I said toast, like in toaster oven), your naked sliced pizza crusts. 10 minutes later you have pizza bowls. And for me, a glass of wine to go with it. That’s how simple it is! Udis Gluten Free pizza crust are super quick to cut, slice, and toast/bake. I adore the thin crust and flavor. It tastes almost like a sourdough and crispy french bread crust combined. Best of both worlds if you ask me.
Non-gmo, dairy free, nut free… but not addicting free (Sorry).
Yep –> Easy clean up. Tapas style dinner. Kid friendly. And one happy healthy satisfying feeling.
You get that right? Scoop it up friends!
Okay, enough scoop talk. Let me share this BOWL of goodness! And I gave you a quick version recipe for caramelizing onions! It’s my go to recipe for caramelizing onions and other veggies! SOOO GOOD!

Thanks Sophia!
This is a great idea and so easy to add a little bit of what people like and leave out what they don’t.
Yes!! Totally agree
Amazing! Looks so colorful and delicious. I would love to try this
recipe at home with the help of your blog. Thanks

love the idea of changing things up from your typical pizza. It’s so fun!
yeA! Let me know if you try it
My GOD. I just can’t get ENOUGH of bowl recipes! This is magical! You’re a serious wizard!
A pizza BOWL? YESSSSSSS! This look so so good!
Jesse’s favourite part of pizza is the crust so this way we could have all the fillings – and the crust on the side 😛
ahh jessie need a bowl then, for sure!
Haha – you sure did totally “bowl” me over with this one! I read your heading and did not expect this – this is phenomenal – I have a weird thing with crust – but crustless bowls with all my favorite toppings I could so devour!
Hehe me too! But I like crust separate so these I loooove
This is a great idea!!
thanks friend!
I am liking this bowl week for sure. You know I’d eat all the spinach and goat cheese with every bite. Alright I wouldn’t turn down the caramelized onions either. Guess you better pass me a breath mint. 🙂
yes, breath mints provided up on arrival. LOL!
Love Udi’s Gluten Free products! These pizza bowls look fantastic! Need to make asap!
i so agree!! come over now! bowl party through the weekend!
This looks and sounds so good Lindsay! My mouth drooled the more I read with the flavors upon flavors, I can’t wait to give it a try!
This is so fun! And so easily customizable!
I am obsessed with all things Udi’s Gluten Free!! These pizza bowls look AMAZING! I’m so pinning for later so I can have a pizza party this weekend! YAYYYY!
me too! pizza party it is!
This is such a delicious idea Lindsay. I’ve found chicken sausage that my husband likes and could see making these on a weeknight for sure.
awesome! and what non dairy cheese do you use? I want to try the new KITE cheese!
For recipes like this, I usually just make my own nut cheese or even cheat and just use olives and some other flavorful ingredients! I’ve only tried a taster of Kite Hill cheese, it was pretty good! For shredded, the Follow Your Heart blocks (not vegan gourmet) are surprisingly good. I’ve never actually liked cheese though so it isn’t something I crave!
Ya that’s the cheese I use when dairy free. It actually tastes like cheese! Haha
What a BRILLIANT idea! Totally trying this with some of my own favorite toppings soon….like salmon, avocado, and veggies – YUM!
now that is a great choice of toppings! YUM!
Mmmmm…pizza! I would definitely throw on ALL of the toppings! I love the idea of a bowl because you get so much MORE of the good stuff, and you still have the crust as well. Perfection, my friend!
best part is –> mama can have her wine with it! Right? LOL!
yep, my thoughts exactly! plus… no spilling pizza crumbs everywhere right? LOL!
These bowls look so delicious. Love goat cheese, spinach and onions! Great recipe for the pizza lovers!
my two favorite things! for sure!
What an amazing idea! I do this with tacos and nachos all the time and use the taco shells or tortilla chips to scoop up the goodness in the bowl. Of course, it would work for pizza too!! Genius! Can’t wait to try!
oh i gotta try the taco shells next! YUM!
Pizza. IN A BOWL. You are a genius! Pinning!
i know! but so are you! i mean… HELLO NACHO BOWL!
Vegas would literally eat pizza every day if I let her. I think a pizza bowl might satisfy her… and she SHOULD be eating gluten free. Le sigh. Totally going to try to sneak this by her this week… maybe with some lean ground beef (her fav) and artichokes (my fav)!
I feel like vegan and James should eat all the beef together and we eat the wine and goat cheese. Winning PIZZA bowl party right there.
LOVE homemade pizza, but I LOVE all pizza! My favorite toppings are definitely red onion, arugula, and prosciutto! YUMMY! Miss you friend and I hope you aren’t melting away in the Texas heat…come see me soon! XOXO
On my way! Haha next week is better. Doc stuff this week ugh. You know
Such s fun idea, these look so great!
thanks Matt!
Pizza bowls are a genius idea! I love pizza egg muffins and breakfast hash type things so it’s perfect. I’m definitely a pizza girl despite the whole Paleo thing!
I used to be CRAZY picky about pizza, and by that I mean that I wouldn’t eat it if it had anything other than tomato sauce and cheese on it 😆 Yup. And this is the same girl who thought the perfect spaghetti was buttered noodles buried under parmesan sauce. This looks amazing, btw!
You and my brother are twins! Pasta and pizza twins haha
Oh my god…as if pizza couldn’t get any better?! This sounds awesome! You have me craving pizza now! I just might have to go out and buy some Udis GF pizza crusts and go to town!
You must! love their pizza crust!
All I need is the crust & for me it does not have to be GF. I LOVE BREAD! 🙂
You got it!
Pizza bowls!? You are so clever!! Love this!
Pizza will forever be one of my favorite things, and I seriously can’t believe I’ve never put it in a bowl! And with crust dippers? So fun!
This is the first thing on next week’s menu. I hope I can find Udi’s pizza crust at Whole Foods or Kroger.
Bowl recipes? You guys did this just for me didn’t you 🙂
I’m pretty sure this pizza bowl is the answer to my prayers!!! <3
yay for answered prayers! hehe
That’s my kind of pizza! I don’t usually eat pizza but I am totally down with this yumness!
right? love bowl style any day!
NOw this is my kind of pizza! Load me up with all the veggies 😀
Pizza in a bowl, I’m sold. Especially cause the “topping” ideas are endless.
Such a cool idea!!! Love it!
