Tropical Homemade Fruit Roll Ups

  • Author: Lindsay Cotter
  • Total Time: 6 hours
  • Yield: 8-10 1x

Description

Easy Homemade Fruit Roll Ups {Oven Option and Dehydrator}. Made with real fruit and no additives! These fruit roll ups are easy to make in the oven or dehydrator with just 3 steps.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups tropical fruit or fruit of choice (Ex: 4 kiwi fruit, 1 large mango, or 2 small tangerines; sliced & peeled)
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 lime or lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon agave or maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon water or pineapple juice for extra sweet flavor

Instructions

  1. Peel the fruit. Place in a food processor or blender along with remaining fruit and juice. Blend all ingredients until smooth.
  2. Pour evenly onto dehydrator tray. If using an oven, will need to use a baking sheet with a non-stick baking sheet on it. See notes for oven recipe.
  3. For the dehydrator recipe: simply cover and turn on 135 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 hours. (See notes for OVEN OPTION)
  4. Once consistency is of your liking for fruit roll ups, turn off the dehydrator. Make sure they aren’t sticky in the middle first.
  5. Let the fruit batter cool.
  6. Peel off the fruit and place on parchment paper
  7. Cut into strips with a pizza cutter.
  8. Next take wax paper or parchment paper and place along the strips.
  9. Roll it up and use a string to hold together or simply press the ends to the parchment paper.
  10. Store in airtight container.

Notes

How make fruit rolls ups in the OVEN –

  1.  If making these fruit rolls in the oven, will need to set oven to around 140F to 170F (lowest temperature oven can go) for 5-7 hours or until the middle is no longer sticky. Make sure to use a baking tray that is lined with a silicone mat! Don’t use foil.
  2. Peel and use same instructions as above after fruit rolls up are ready.

TIPS – I propped my oven open with a tiny stick, about 2-3 inches. Then let the fruit mix dehydrate for 4-7 hours, depending on the temperature. I was able to dry out the fruit in 4 hours at 170F.
