The Foodie Bootcamp Recap

We did it! Our First FOODIE BOOTCAMP! A… “BATCH YOUR CONTENT. GET INSPIRED. Create up to 16 Original Posts for your Food Blog in one Intensive & Inspiring Weekend Workshop.” And now I can’t wait to share the recap and future plans to come! Warning, picture and food overload is about to happen! Mmm k?

Recipe and styling – Katie Chase and Brooke Lark

On July 31 I posted a picture on Instagram. This picture HERE to be exact. I share our big news, the first ever, Foodie  Bootcamp, yes, but also I talked about the fear and self-doubt and the mental script that goes on in our head.

That exact thinking that can stop us from doing our best work, from moving forward, from pursuing BIG ideas, from being FULLY present…..

A woman wearing an apron holding a plate of colorful food, a woman in the forefront taking photo of plate of food.

Friends, this is one of the many reasons why Brooke Lark and I (together) decided to host THE FOODIE BOOTCAMP.

And …. we put it all together in less than three months, knowing it would be anything but easy.

So away we went, grinding away at work in hopes to put on a bootcamp/workshop that was magical and beyond perfect for our fellow hard-working entrepreneurs.

This was definitely a challenge for us, and we’re crazy like that to like challenges. Sure, we knew is going to be hard. But we also knew it would be wholeheartedly rewarding. And I mean wholeheartedly in a way that it connects your whole heart to a bigger vision! A new sense of purpose, inspiration, and creativity was birthed! As well as new friendships and partnerships, thanks to our attendees, mentors, sponsors, and lovely volunteers!

THE FOODIE BOOT CAMP RECAP

Yep, the first foodie bootcamp turned out to be spot on to our core purpose

“A FOCUSED INTENSIVE WEEKEND of community, work, and growth!

Because together we can GET THINGS DONE, WE CAN BUILD UP our BUSINESSES , WE CAN LEARN FROM EACH OTHER and BETTER EACH OTHER.  WE CAN FIGHT the FEAR of MOVING FORWARD. .

And  we can do it all while feeling INSPIRED and seasoned with grace. .”

#communityovercompetition

A group of women for a food photography class.

Okay okay there might have been a few hiccups that made our cortisol levels sky rocket, but we got through it with determination and wonderful help!

As the co-founder (and a mentor) of the first Foodie Bootcamp, I had the amazing opportunity to help so many talented influencers and food bloggers with their food photography and styling. I loved connecting with all the brands that made this happen and the mentors who graciously gave us their time and energy!

It truly was a unique boutique style workshop experience driven by HARD WORKING humans! EVERYONE (our team included) WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF! Almost over 230 recipes were created and photographed within 2 days! Heck, Holly (happy food healthy life ) was able to create, photograph, and write 15 recipes in one weekend!! That’s batch your content work like no other!

Tables set up by tall windows, filled with food photography layouts, women with cameras photographing food.
Two women with cameras setting up table with drinks for food photography.
A women arranging a food board on a wooden cutting board.

Each day our attendees showed up for their call time ready to recipe create and photograph! 8 different recipe stations all filled with products! Produce galore! Props and Backdrops of all sorts.

A long table set up with as assortment of foods with tall black boards for each section. A woman holding food containers in front of table.
Black sign with white words and graphics for 'produce', fresh produce in white baskets in front of sign.

Huge thank you to Erickson Surfaces and Magic Linen for being our Prop Station Sponsors!

Long table with black and white sign for 'props' with assortment of plates and bowls in front of sign.

And volunteers that hustled like no other, whether it be to cleanup, rotate ingredients, or just be there while our attendees needed help with and shots, pour shots, etc.

Did I mention that they also did the dishes like champs, and did it with such joy? Fueled by samples of all the delicious food of course! And good food it was! Gosh I love it!

A woman pouring honey over two cups of chia pudding on a photography board.

Our mentors in the upstairs photography room, walked around helping people with food styling, more hand shots, tips and tricks with photography, and just anything they really needed another eye for. I have to say, I don’t think I sat down once the whole event and I loved it so so much. To be in a room with such creative is full of passion and determination.

Tables set up with women sitting around them working on laptops for a class.

Our other crew of mentors worked in the library. This cozy spot was where all the attendees went after they did their recipe development and photography. There they had a set up of mentors to help with Lightroom editing, SEO, Pinterest, Copywriting, etc. That is where they got the CONTENT PLANNING work done. Work fueled by motivation as well as a room stocked with coffee, tea, and healthy snacks of all kinds.

Wooden decorative boxes filled with Enjoy Life snacks and chocolates.

All this to say we could have done it all without each and every person lending a hand, a heart, or word of encouragement.

Thank you to our mentors, thank you with all our hearts! Your skill set is appreciated more than you’ll ever know!
