the perfect lunch bowl!

Oh goodness, I am so excited. Like BEYOND excited to share this Tuna Salad Sushi Bowl with you. Yes, it’s like my new favorite lunch. Okay along with these wraps, but also because of the AMAZING tuna that makes the tuna salad within. Amazing CANNED tuna that is all the things. And when I say all the things I’m talking like all the things canned tuna should be. SAFE! Safe for you, safe for me, safe for kids, safe for pregnant mama’s! Yep, you heard me. A “safe catch” canned tuna.

But before I go and brag about all the things SAFE CATCH in this safe spicy avocado tuna salad sushi bowl, I’m gonna just back it up.

Let’s talk about tuna salad in SUSHI bowl FORM!

Super Simple Spicy avocado tuna salad sushi bowls. A naturally gluten free and low mercury tuna salad mixed with fun sushi ingredients, then tossed all in a bowl. This is a tuna salad for sushi lovers or anyone looking for a great healthy lunch! Full of omegas, protein, and more.

First of all. We love sushi. I take that back. We ADORE sushi. And I’ve made it time and and time in again but there’s just one problem. My sushi rolling skills are not so great. I end up making a sushi roll turned into a plate of sushi ingredients all fallen out of a nori sheet. I know, I know. There is a certain skill for this. And I’ve had “lessons,” but still… I just don’t make pretty sushi rolls. And you know what? That’s okay, because I found a way to combine my love for sushi rolls and my love for avocado tuna salad into one EASY PEASY Healthy Deconstructed Sushi BOWL –> NO MESS! NO SKILLS needed. HALLELUJAH!

Okay, now that you know my not so secret horrible sushi rolling skills. Let’s talk about the Safe catch tuna in the tuna salad. Remember, it’s ALL THE THINGS and here’s WHY!

safe catch canned tuna

What’s in this tuna salad recipe?

Safe Catch is a new Paleo certified canned and pouched tuna, made especially for Elite athletes and pregnant women.

And I bet you are wondering HOW is it SAFE? It’s all about the PROCESS and how they test/source/package each fish, and each can.

  • Safe Catch is the “only brand that tests every single tuna for mercury.”
  • Safe Catch designed a “proprietary testing technology that allows them to detect the purity (mercury level) in each and every fish in seconds.”
  • Safe Catch Elite is “tested to a limit 10x stricter than the FDA, and is the official tuna of the American Pregnancy Association.”
  • Safe Catch Tuna has has “no precook processing in their tuna; which means more nutrients and amazing flavor. There are never any additives, fillers, or preservatives; only wild, pure tuna.”

You see what I’m saying? As a nutrition specialist, this is BIG NEWS! This means I can recommend a safe LOW MERCURY Omega 3 rich canned tuna meal for pregnant women, athletes, and kids. A quick meal packed with pure complete protein and amino acids for those growing bodies and muscles.

I highly recommend you check out Safe Catch site for a more in depth look at how they test and their story! I just love it.

That being said, we’re celebrating safe catch canned tuna with deconstructed sushi combined with a classic Summer/Spring salad topper, the tuna salad.

Lots of healthy fats, lots of protein, lots of bone supporting minerals, and more!

Yep, gluten free avocado tuna salad sushi bowls!

Super intrigued by this tuna brand! I’m stashing it away for my RD days when I get to start making meal recommendations to preggos, etc. I might have to try it myself in the meantime because I eat an absurd amount of tuna and never bought a special brand. Any idea which stores carry it?
