Description

Quick, creamy, and delicious, this mustard sauce recipe comes together in 5 minutes or less for the only condiment you’ll ever need! Use it as a dip, marinade, and more!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup up to 2/3 cup real mayo or creamy hummus (adjust to desired thickness)
  • 1/4 cup dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon dried herbs (chives, parsley, dill, etc.)
  • 1-2 Tablespoons honey or agave nectar
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

Blender or Food Processor Method:

  1. In the bowl of a food processor or blender, combine mayo or hummus, Dijon mustard, onion powder, paprika, lemon juice, honey/agave, and any optional herbs or spices. Note – It’s best to start with 1/2 cup mayo or hummus and add more after blending and tasting, if desired.
  2. With the machine running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture emulsifies and becomes creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Taste and adjust salt, pepper, or sweetener. Add more mayo/hummus if you prefer a thicker texture.
  4. Blend again briefly to fully incorporate.

Whisk-by-Hand Method:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients except olive oil.
  2. While whisking continuously, slowly pour in olive oil to emulsify and thicken.
  3. Adjust seasonings and consistency as needed.

Notes

Storage- Store in an airtight container or glass jar in the fridge for up to 7 days. Stir before using if it separates slightly.

Texture tip – For a thinner consistency, add more oil.
