Well crap, I just broke the cardinal rule of tweeting. Yep, I tweeted before I properly thought out my words. In my defense, it was early, I hadn’t had my coffee yet, and i was annoyed. I know I know, slap my wrist and put me in the corner. But lesson learned……..
So what exactly was this tweet? It’s not important, but what is important is that I focus on kind words, light words, of course the occasional LOL words. Oh and just keep my mouth shut at times. I always think of my mother’s saying…
“Well if you aren’t going to say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”
Maybe I should take a vow of silence for the next week.
Just kidding …. maybe.
Although my words may have not been quite right, at least my (our) meals have been.
I’ve been trying to get in good quality meals all week and I have to say, they’ve been fun to make. Cooking to me is very therapeutic and having the time to cook more has definitely relaxed me.
Lamb Curry with Radish and Rice
Raspberry Chicken with Green Onion (tastes better than it looks)
The hubs’ new favorite –
Steel Cut GF Oats with warmed pear, poached egg, and honey on top. Don’t knock till you try it.
GF Sausage, Avocado, & Marmite wraps with a side of creamed rice pudding/banana.
And of course there is a good old Mince Meat Pie. It’s not gluten free and all I did was put it in the oven, but hey, it makes a kiwi man very happy.
And my favorite recovery mini meal? Well that would be my version of beans on toast!
GF Toasted Bagel w/ Avocado, Beans, & melted cheese
(fresh New Zealand cheese is the best!)
Well, thanks Jen for letting me share the things I got right today. I feel better now. ha-ha.
Are you learning to think before you “tweet”?” ha-ha, hope so!
What’s one thing you got right today? Come on, you gotta have one.
Cheers,
LC
Mmmm…I love the look of the hub’s breakfast bowl of oats and egg, and also that bagel looks divine! Ooof, sorry you had a mistaken tweet experience. Onward and upward, lol! <3 I actually don't tweet…I feel a bit shy and awkward, and like no one will care what I have to say, or respond! It's scuuurrry, lol! 😛 Happy WIAW lovely! xyx
Chili for dinner was just right for this super chilly day! Tweeting makes me nervous for that exact reason. I’m always like, “is that right?” “Can I say that?” Lol
ya, i thought that after i posted it. WHOOPS!!! Enjoy that delicious chilly lauren. Looks great!
that oatmeal with the egg looks so delicious to me! you’re cracking me up with the tweet issue. what happened, friend? I’ve definitely tweeted without checking my spelling or grammar – UGH. hate it when that happens…
oh let’s just say i was a little TOO blunt. EEK! oh, when is your next off day. I’ve been calling you, stalking you. hehe. jk. Love ya!
I think twitter makes it all too easy to speak before you think! I have to be careful too because I am kind of hot-tempered haha!
Hmmm eggs + fruit? Together? In one bowl?? I may just have to try that tomorrow!!
yes, this is totally your combo Sable! try out the oats with steel cut oats if you can, even better! and i agree, i get hot -tempered too. I don’t show it online but oh just ask the hubs. haha.
oh girl there have been many times I have tweeted something and realized it either made no sense or I should not of said anything, haha just got to laugh and pray people do not see it
oh i did that, prayed no else read it! haha. But we’re human, yes?!
I’m sure what you said wasn’t that bad – you’re too sweet! I nead to “read before I tweet” – I always tweet things that don’t make sense because of autocorrect on my phone or my own poor typing. It’s kind of embarassing!
oh yes, done that too! at least we can laugh at ourselves, right?
😉
I love that egg idea! I am all about mixing sweet with savory.
We all have those “foot in mouth” moments. It’s part of life. While I don’t believe in big mistakes, I believe we do have those little things we wish we could take back. But life goes on! Usually we get more upset about stuff like that than the people listening/reading.
it was a little one, and good thing too. Cause those can be caught. Let me know if you try the egg combo susan!
I try not to knock any foods before I try them… I still need to check out vege mite!!!
you do you do! you’d be a vegemite lover, that i know. I should send you some! email me you address.
Hey, that oatmeal looks great. I will definitely try it! 😉
We’ve all done it on Twitter. But twitter moves so fast that hopefully the conundrum is fast forgotten.
haha, all i can say is thank god for twitter overloads. haha.
I wouldn’t say I need to think before I tweet…but I should definitely think before I speak sometimes haha. I think that saying is something that everyone should take to heart! Your eats look delicious Linds!
oh ditto. I speak and then think CRAP! maybe lindsay’s need a vow of silence.
I am so glad I am not the only one that sometimes speaks before I think. We are all human lindsay and I for one wholeheartedly forgive you. 😀 The eats look delicious as always.
OH my gosh, what did you do!? Haha 🙂 We love you anyway. 🙂
My one right thing? I slept in! Woohoo!
sleeping in?! YEA! you need to do that more often, yes.
Yeah, that oatmeal dish looks deeeeelightful!! And I would pay money to read what you had tweeted! 😉 Happens to the best of us, my friend!
well if you are paying, i’ll tell you. hehe. <3
Shit… can I pay in peanut butter? 😉
haha, you know it!
Your oat/egg combination looks amazing, I will be trying that. NOOOOOO never go silent for more than a few hours. I already miss you and can’t deal with you stopping tweeting:) LOVE YOU!
haha, i think we just made up for my silence this morning via twitter. So glad to TWEET with you from afar. Now get on that plane!
I’ve definitely caught myself writing a tweet and then thinking about it and not actually pressing “tweet” and sending it out there onto the internet for anyone to see. I don’t think I did that when I first started on twitter. I’m glad I’m learning to think a little more.
You had me until Marmite and then I gagged a little. 🙂
oh it is a learning process, thats for sure. And you know you like marmite…. deep deep down inside, right?
everything is better with an egg on top!!! hmm what did i get right today…oh, i know – how i reacted to an annoying email – i stopped and breathed so i wouldnt shoot an equally annoying email back!
oh good for you! thats hard to do. Way to breathe through it.
Hah, that saying is sadly SO TRUE. Even Ashton Kutcher got slammed on Twitter for “tweeting” before “googling”. Sad vocabulary we have now…
I love that beans + avocado + cheese mix! Doable, simple, tasty.
oh that ashton, he’s been bashed thats for sure.
p.s.
Let me know if you try my beany combo. A DOTR combo for sure.
oh mincemeat pies…i could just never get on board with those no matter how hard i tried while i was down there 🙂
i tried the christmas mince pies, the gluten free ones. NOt too bad, but the hubs loves his MEAT PIES! Can’t take that away. haha.
It happens.
Alas – to be human…
Here’s the thing my friend.
I know you are kind, fun, loving, and sincere.
Regardless of what a random undercaffeinated tweet.. Ever…
Period.
i will never tweet without coffee again. Lesson learned. Now wine in a whole other story. RIght?
😉
I wanna know what you said too! I am sure it was fine, you never say anything negative or too blunt IMHO 😉 Anyway, that poached egg concoction actually looks REALLY good!! I love all of your combos, the raspberry chicken looks awesome!!!
haha, well it was blunt but oh well. Try the egg combo and report back, k?
Well now I REALLY want to know what the tweet was!! 😉
Love you alot, Lindsay!
haha, i knew you would. Love you lindz and A LOT!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Kiwi man is one lucky guy! I can tell you put love and thought in to each deal you make!
Just recently I’ve begun to discover the therapeutic nature of cooking (and I have you to thank for that!) though I still can’t hold a candle to your wonderful creations. Perhaps some day. For now, I’ll stick to all the wonderful recipes you give me 🙂 you’re the best!
oh friend, you have found your cooking groove all on your own! I am loving it too! I just nudged you a wee bit. hehe.
I can’t even believe that you had a not-so-nice tweet. I must have missed it, hahaha.
Oh yea, remember me?
I’ve been MIA. So really, what about a Skype date? And also, when will you be my personal chef?
love you byeeee!
i do remember you!!! And i miss you! Skype please yes! WHen?
Wow– those are some fancy meals! (Or a lot fancier that I make. LOL) It’s amazing what coffee can do for a person. I try not to tweet anything too personal, but I guess there’s always a first!
yes, coffee makes my brain cells work obviously! haha.
Yuuum!!! All of your food looks awesome!!!! Oh something I got right….I made homemade gnocchi yesterday!
oh wonderful!!! Did you post the recipe? I would love to try making that Gen.
At least Twitter has the delete option right? My mom always says that exact same quote. I think it must be in the mom handbook somewhere. I need you as my personal chef Linds… all of your meals look amazing. Especially the lamb curry and the oats topped with egg.
maybe its a Texas saying. Our mothers know best, right?
Oh I have had some ooops tweets, we shall call them “buzzed tweets” haha! Its true, tweeting can get you in hot water, well at least it has happened for some celebs or others that made the news.
Love the steel cut oat bowl, I really would like that!
Love you!
buzzed tweets, ahh haa! i like it. Thats going to be my inside joke with you now. hehe.
yes yes yes
I write and DELETE so so so so so many tweets.
a lot.
bunches.
did I mention I delete? 🙂
ha, yes! i will hold my pinkie on delete from now on. It must get used to being there.
😉
Seeing that mince meat pie makes me so happy! Many people in the US don’t know about it, but it’s a huge tradition at both Thanksgiving and Christmas in my family. It wasn’t until last year that I learned that the traditional British version actually contains meat! Maybe the Kiwi version does too?
I love the idea of drizzling honey on a poached egg! Sounds like a delicious combination!
As far as Twitter goes: I’ve definitely had my fair share of “ooopies!” Tweets! Thank goodness we can delete them, right?
Happy Thursday, Lindsay! xoxo
can i just tell you how much i love you for saying mince meat pies? gosh i think our taste buds were seperated at birth. Love that Sarah! Kiwi version has meat or cheese or both! They even have gluten free.
Okay, now I HAVE to come to New Zealand! And yes, our taste buds were most definitely separated at birth. Love it! xoxo
That poached egg looks unreal. Interesting meal there. I can never find a good saltier oatmeal recipe…
i also do cheesy oats. tried that? Oats with nutritional yeast or brewers yeast or daiya cheese. Its like Grits!
I have some nutritional yeast. I’ll have to try that.
I’m bad at keeping up with twitter…but i shall definitely heed your advice and think before I tweet! One thing I got right today: I turned in my writing assignment on time and managed to run some errands as well. Loose ends tied up for a stress free friday!
productivity! thats always a RIGHT way to end the week. Good job friend!
Ohh that lamb curry sounds awesome!! Looks good too 🙂
Hmm what did I get right today? A video skype chat with the hubs. Was missing his face so much!! To see his smile was all I needed to get through the next 24 hours until see him again 🙂
oh yea, thank god for skyping! i feel ya! hey, we should skype. Email me your skype name.
Your eats look fabulous! I too find cooking therapeutic. Its perfect weather here for soup and chili.
oh yes, chili and soup weather. warms the soul!
Yet another reason I don’t have a twitter account – my foot in mouth disease would transfer all too well over to twitter. At least with my blog and facebook there is a delete button.
I got a lot right today, actually! It was a great day – best of the week so far. Feels like a Friday, but in a good way. Not in a disappointed it isn’t Friday kind of way. I gave two great lectures and a surprisingly productive meeting. Bring on Thursday!
haha, and the more reason why i want you on twitter. Nonstop entertainment!!
oh beans on a bagel and avocado!!! How have I not tried that!?! I need to test that out asap! I just ate a combo that resembles your crazy combos that are always delish!! you would be so proud of my mish-mash. Ready for this…
GF br rice wrap, with cooked kale with Braggs and nutritional yeast, with portobello veggie burger chopped up topped with horseradish mustard.
Don’t knock it till you try it right? 😉 I’m going to test out the oatmeal too. First avo-bean bagel!
you know i am so proud! wish i could have shared that with you!
I think it’s good I don’t have a Twitter because I tend to speak before I think it through a lot. I just get SO excited…so not many people tell me about their friends’ surprise parties haha 😉
Lovin the kiwi eats my friend! Happy WIAW!
haha, yes then it is a good thing. Lots of surprises are now saved!
confession time: i still don’t really know how tweeting works! 🙂
one thing i got right – skipping class to study and go to bed early … i need the sleep!
btw – egg on top of oats is AMAZING (i add soy sauce or tamari to mine!)
oh good! extra sleep is well deserved! i might need tha tonight. and i might need to try that tamari sauce on eggs next. good call!
I hate twitter. I’m the worst at it. I feel like such an idiot any time I do anything on it. I made enchiladas and they turned out pretty great. My boys and I actually sat down and had a nice hot meal together. It was such an amazing me because of them. That is something I did right. You always help me see the silver lining. I love that about you!
oh yea! i bet it was fantastic and a table full of love. Wish i was there. Sounds blissful… like you!
I find it SUPER hard to believe that anything you tweeted was mean-spirited in any way, but I think I daily say things I wish I could take back. Last night was a HORRIBLE classic that I can’t even repeat because what I said was so horrible.
Either way, I think recognizing it is what is important – it’s worse when people don’t and then keep doing it!
oh now i want to know. i bet it wasnt bad. but thank god for the delete button, right? haha.
mmmm warmed pears on steel cut oatmeal – i love maple syrup on it – or vanilla almond milk and i LOVE LOVE LOVE marmite on mine …. just kidding – got ya for a second though huh – bleh!!
i thought i was reading the wrong comment for a second, and then i you mentioned maramite and I knew you smartass was shinning! LOVE YOU!
I was 100% serious – until the marmite
Love you – miss you – looking forward to you coming home
Well, Twitter swallows everything older than 30 minutes, right? But I love that you’re so thoughtful about your words nevertheless. 🙂
I’m happy you have more time for cooking now. That also does me good. Your eats look nourishing and delish! 🙂
i sure hope twitter swallows it. I am going to believe that for sure. ahh, makes me feel good now. hehe.
I am totally making the hub’s oatmeal dish! 🙂
I think sometimes it is easier to say bolder things via twitter, facebook or blogs because you aren’t actually talking to someone face to face. People seem to more vocal and more willing to share opinions. I know I say things all the time that I probably wouldn’t say to someone in person. 🙁
you will love the oat meal dish. I just know it! and you are right, i am much more vocal on twitter. Eek, not a good thing. I shall practice THINKING first. haha, that might be hard.
omg you’re too funny! Everytime I tweet or update facebook without thinking I usually end up thinking AFTER, deleting it, and then wondering the same thing (vow of silence!) buuuuut then I remember that making myself shaddup only makes me want to blab more… and then the cycle continues =)
i’ll keep you in check in you tell me when to shut up =) only happy positive almond joy-ness for us mmk? hehe
love your face off
ha, i feel ya! lets tell each other to shut up when needed, k?
Love you friend!
Almond joyFUL!
And now I gotta know what you said!!! LOL I can’t imagine you ever saying anything mean or ugly so it’s gotta be just a goof? I feel like I mess up all the time when I speak, tweet, email, sometimes even post a blog. So we’re in the same boat 😉
it wasn’t mean, just a little too blunt. And you never mess up in my book! I get ya. hehe.
I try to think before I tweet…but sometimes that doesn’t happen. I’ve deleted a couple after thinking through what I said!
One time when I was a kid, my dad got this idea that when my sister and I would fight, we’d have to write something over and over and punishment (it only happened once before he quit that idea).
I will never forget it:
“I will think before I act, and then when I do it will be in a positive way.”
(117 times—the last 17 added on due to whining)
ha, now thats a good lesson learned. I share write that down. Maybe not 117 times, but several times.
😉
