Kia Ora and welcome to my Wine Wednesday on the road. I’ll let the video do my explaining and then jump straight post. So sit back, pour yourself a glass, and enjoy more scenes from New Zealand. Oh and try not to work too hard before during the Holidays, mmm K?
Our first vineyard/winery stop was just a quick 45 minutes up the road in Northern Canterbury. Pegasus Bay Winery was gorgeous and their property is filled with a huge garden area just overlooking a range of rolling hills. We sat outside for a while admiring the view.
They also had a gourmet restaurant tucked away inside an old Victorian house. It was packed full of locals and tourists. We drooled over everyone’s plate as we walked through house to take a little tour ourselves.
Then it was off to the tasting room. We had a sample flight of 11 different wines ranging from Riesling to Merlot Cabernet. Pegasus is known for their Riesling and I have to say, I was quite impressed. I’m usually not a Riesling gal due to the sweetness but this was DELICIOUS! Yes, I was like a kid in a candy store, oohing and ahhhing it all.
After our wine tasting and property viewing, nature called. Yes, that nature.
It was probably one of the best parts of the visit. no no, not because of the bathroom trip but because what was written on the walls inside the bathroom! I laughed at all these quotes. Other ladies were laughing too, but I think it’s because I was taking a picture of the bathroom wall, ya pretty sure I was focal point there.
Ahh good times good times! I might be stealing those quotes for my kitchen décor some day.
Well, that’s about it. We plan on heading to a few more vineyards throughout our stay, so I will definitely keep you posted.
And I almost forgot. My only two WIAW food pictures. Gosh Jen, I’m slacking. Please forgive me!
New Zealand Lollycake and Muesli, that’s a good combo isn’t it?
Hope you are enjoying the Holidays! Any Wine or Vineyard lovers out there?
Cheers to Wine Wednesday! See you in a few days.
Wino Windsay

So glad you are safe and sound away from Christchurch! It looks like you are having a wonderful time! That lollycake looks like it has a fabulous texture. I’m a big texture person : )

me too! we would have shared a lovely meal and stroll together. Someday friend, someday.
🙂
I’ve never been so jealous! Looks like a fabulous time. I’m also loving the pic of the muesli, I love that stuff. I’ve never been able to find good muesli in eastern idaho. Also, those sayings about wine are awesome…and I may use them in my decor some day…if I can ever get creative again. Merry Christmas!
it was! wish i could have one big party over here with all you bloggers. Wanna come and wine and dine? hehe.
p.s.
I’ll have to bring you back some muesli!
Cheers!!!
wish we could have been there – love the pictures! so beautiful almost like we are there with you 😉

Oh my goodness, New Zealand Lollycake is the most fluorescent, yet delicious looking cake I think I’ve ever seen! Is it fruity?
The vineyards you visited are absolutely beautiful! I love wine tasting, but have only done it in California. Yet another reason to visit you in NZ! 🙂
Loved the vlog, and hope you have a wonderful time in “the boonies”! Hehe. Merry Christmas, Lindsay! xoxo

Mmm…that looks so much fun! 🙂 And Riesling is deeeeelicious…my favourite! <3 Must visit Pegasus bay…note to self 😉 Happy Holidays! 😀 xyx
its beautiful! you’d love it!
My sister’s Bf’s parents actually own a vineyard in New Mexico – it’s very small, mostly just for fun, but it was really neat to visit and taste their wine last Spring 🙂
Other than that, I haven’t been to a vineyard since long before I was of age (i.e. way too long ago). And these pictures just set the bar very high!
i might have to come to NM next!
oooo, lollycake looks fun!!!
You are amazingly cute and I love your Wine Wednesday! LOL!!! How awesome!!
I’m going to be drinking a LOT of good wine over the weekend as my family is big wine lovers and we love trying all different kinds, reading up and sippin away! My aunt and her brother in law own a wine importing business..swoon!!!

I want to try lolly cakes!! That’s sounds awesome, and it’s so pretty! I love the writing on the walls of the bathroom too. Good decoration – and so true!
i think we all need this kind of bathroom decor, right? Hope the aqua jogging is going well!
yes, you need to try lollycakes in a muffin form. Ya?
GORGEOUS!
I love wineries and vineyards, but I don’t drink much.
Those quotes are rather amazing… I don’t blame you for wanting to recreate them!
I have never even heard of Lolly Cake! Well I am off to do some research 😀
Did you research it? I think it would be fun to recreate the lollycake!
When I first read about wine on the road, I was a little worried… but I like your meaning quite well! The pictures are gorgeous! Tomorrow is my day to head to the wine store to pick out our Pinot Noir for Christmas dinner!
Lolly Cake?? I’m normally a pretty healthy eater but would never deprive myself of my sweets. I’ve been looking for a good fruitcake recipe but–on my way to find some Lolly Cake recipes now!
Oh its just sugar, flour, and lollies (candies). Pure goodness in cake. haha.
gorgeous!! wine tasting is so much fun. love those words in the bathroom – they would make for great kitchen decor!
Ahhhh I love your sweet face! Have a wonderful and safe LONG trip, my friend! <3
long indeed, but we made it!! Yea!
I kind of just want to say Lollycake again and again! What a fun word for a cake? Sounds yummy! I have never been to a wine vineyard, but it’s on my “bucket list” and need to ASAP. Gorgeous picture and love those quotes…All very true…Enjoy your…Thursday? 😉
What the heck is in a lollycake? LOL.
Love the colors surrounding the vineyard. Great fun! And a Riesling is definitely a good one every once in a while. If you ever find… try Almond Champagne. So good! They sell it at a nearby vineyard here. 😉
i know! such rich deep colors! That waas my favorite part.
Okay, now i must try almond champagne. Where do you get it?
Not sure where you can get it, but I get mine from here Wilson Creek Winery. 😉
ahh love it! thanks!
living on the central califonian coast, you know i’m a wine lover! plus i’m a geek who likes to learn the intricacies of how wine is made!
what beautiful settings to enjoy great wine & great company 😉
however, that lolly cake is frighteningly bright! it’s like fruitcake from the 80’s!
its totally fruitcake from the 80’s! haha, just needs some leg warmers, right?
Wow these pictures are absolutely breathtaking. Soak it all in my friend. That cake looks so delicious!! Those colors are so vibrant and I almost feel like I am looking at pictures from a fairy tale. Almost too good to be be true.
Soaking it in for sure. Just wish the days were longer to do so! hope you are having a wonderful Christmas with you beautiful family.
I love your vlogs! This looks like MY kinda day in NZ! I love wine tastings, as you know – what a perfect way to cheers to winesday, my dear! I hope you have an awesome few days of disconnectedness!! xo
girl I wish you were here right now! I’m so enjoying this wine country but I need some girlfriends to giggle with. Love you!
Ahhhh looks like such a great time! And I love that I already knew what kia ora meant from my body pump training. Since body pump was created in new zealand, is it huge there?
oh my gosh it is SO HUGE here. That and ZUmba are EVERYWHERE!! Love it!
Wine Wednesday may become a tradition over here. I think I need to at least try it. You know, just to see what happens.

I looooove Riesling!!!! I actually just love sweet wine. Like the sweeter the better! 🙂 haha I think I’d love Pegasus!
well you would have loved this place then, so yummy with their rieslings. Maybe its in the states!?
Gorgeous photos! I want to go there! By the way, the cake is adorable. It reminds me of the rainbow bread my grandma used to buy me.
and right next door was a brewery. You’d love it Tiff!
wine tastings!!!! What a great way to enjoy wine wednesday!! Don’t you love discovering new wines? I had a riesling in sonoma that I too really loved but usually HATE riesling. I was shocked. Cheers friend! Love the videos!!
yes!! wish you all were here. I know I say that a lot, but i mean it.
Lollicake?! Holy amazingness! 😀
When we went to Australia, I had muesli almost every day for breakfast, I love it so much! They seriously need to start having more here in the states heehee
Love the pics, yall are quite the adventurers!
it never gets old here, muesli that is. Why does it taste so much better too? hehe
sooo sooo jealous of your winery date! lollycake sounds delicious; me thinks you should try to recreate!
oh good idea! i will try that when we are in auckland maybe.
How fun. Kind of jealous I must say. I wish we had decent wineries around here. We have a few up in northern AR, but ick.
wish you were here with Jess and Jo. HOw fun would that be?! Oh and we went to this winery in Branson that cracked me up! We were the only ones under 70 too! haha
“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” Let me add “But I’m too broke to drink good wine”. 😉 Haha. This looks like such a fun day with the hubs, you two are so photogenic together! And that cake- omg whattt is in that?!
haha, well said! i now buy wine that is in the middle price. Even’s out, right?
Great photos! Looks like fun!

I love wine : ) I loved the title since it had wine in it : )
Happy Wednesday love! <3
i knew you’d appreciate this post! hope you are feeling well after the accident.
What did you think of Lollie Cake!?! Bet it’s the Husband’s favourite….. SUGAR!!!!! I used to love it when I was a kid, I made it for Viper’s birthday, and could barely handle a few bites…. it’s so INTENSE! Easiest thing in the world to make though 😉 Love Pegasus Bay, beautiful spot…. oh and yeah, anywhere with wine. Bummed we didn’t get to hang more…. hmmm I think a jump over the ditch would be a FAB idea – I can cook and provide as much Kombucha and vino as you can guzzle 😉 Safe travels!
haha, yes! SUGAR OVERLOAD> I am not a sweet tooth person so i couldn’t handle it. I can hardly handly the hokie pokie bites.
As for the wine and kombucha, i am so there! gosh i want to come back with you to Gold Coast. We’d have a blast! Please come visit us in Austin. Misty can play with my nieces and nephews too!
I completely second the come to Austin request! A Lindsey AND a Lou… THAT would be a WONDERFUL day! 😉
