July has been a good month. Lot’s of things went well, worked well, and turned out well. Let me go into detail a little more here.
First up. What’s working well in the FOOD/FUEL department.
What’s clean series? It means is free of additives, artificial sugars, it’s non-GMO tested, gluten free and safe for athletes to use in professional or elite competition (NSF approved).
So why is this “working” for me (us)? Many reasons really, as listed above. But the 2 most important are gluten free and NSF approved. Many people don’t realize that not only does my husband have to fuel properly for training, but he has to be careful of what’s in that fuel or supplement. NSF approved means it’s not on the banned substance list. It’s safe for athletes to use and take. So I feel much better making a recovery shake that’s a not going to get him banned from triathlon (ahem.. Lance). I also ship Healthy Bites to a few pro athletes. They can feel safe with my products when I use Twin Labs Clean Series protein. Also available is vegan and soy.
You know what’s crazy? Coffee used to be on the banned substance list way back when. Sheesh, glad they changed that.
What else is working in the food department? Udis at Costco! Yes, a HUGE bag of Udis Glutenfree Mutli-Grain bread (larger pieces) for $5. I’ve died and gone to gluten free on a budget heaven. We celebrated with this strange but good combo. Toast, organic cream cheese, creamy nuttzo, fig jam, banana, and molasses. Yup.. totally working.
Now let’s talk gear. What’s working #fitgear.
Well first of all, the Accel Livewell360 bag. I’ve gushed about this bag before as a carry on bag, but now I’m gushing about it as a gym bag. It’s the lulu of gym bags. Stylish, great quality, durable, roomie, and worth every penny!
Then there are the life “trackers.” My new Polar RC3 GPS and my Jawbone UP. I’ve been double fisting them lately. Haha! The polar (which I plan to do a full review on soon) is used to make sure I am training smart. Smart, not hard. The Jawbone UP is tracking my steps and my sleep. Focusing on quality sleep (which I NEED) and moving throughout the day. Nothing extreme. Just balance. Eat, Sleep, Move, Relax, Repeat.
I tell you what, making sure I sleep well is harder than it seems. It means disconnecting earlier and getting in a good pre bed routine. I didn’t realize how little I was actually sleeping till now. But now that I am WORKING on it, I am feeling 10x better during the day. Whoa!
And last but not least.. What’s working mentally, spiritually, emotionally.
Pausing more. Smiling more. Enjoying more. Worrying less.
Yep, I’d say it’s working. Now, let’s keep it working!
What’s working well with you today, this month, etc. ?
