I’ve got a cup of tea in my hand and lots on my mind. Usually when this happens I just shut down. But today I am writing it out.
You see, I’ve been meaning to write this post for a good while now. But things came up and my priorities changed and, well, I delayed it. The funny thing is this post was suppose to be about my wellness TEA challenge. I signed up for the Celestial Seasonings wellness TEA challenge back in December and started incorporating more daily tea ASAP.
Now, the goal was to incorporate one or more of these teas into your daily routine and then report back and the end of the month. For me, it was breeze! I love tea. Hot, cold, fermented (kombucha), haha you get the picture. But tea allows me to sit and slow down. You just can guzzle tea like coffee. It’s meant to be steeped and enjoyed slowly.
Anyway, I got hooked on the detox tea pictured below and have had it every afternoon or evening. I even got the hubs hooked on the sleepytime tea at night. It seemed be a great detox for our busy “schedule” as well. And we went through our samples pretty fast!
That’s when it hit me. I needed to keep the WELLNESS WALK going. Not just the tea, but the overall lifestyle! But not just any wellness walk, MY OWN!
It’s taken me a good 5 years to figure out which way to go on my own wellness walk, which path to follow, which path to trust. Don’t get me wrong, each path has been rocky, narrow, and scary at times, but they’ve all lead me to a better place NOW!
My wellness walk started off by following other’s foot steps but now I am standing FIRM in my own. My wellness walk used to be a sprint. Sprinting after things that didn’t matter, but that just left me tired and weary. I prefer to stroll or walk briskly now on my walk. You get to see more that way!
Here’s what you’ll find on my walk….
Quiet mornings and God’s word. And Quality time meeting a BLEND
Trying new VEGAN snacks but still enjoying organic MEAT and cultured Dairy.
Taking a day or two to relax more but also get some fresh air.
Making random snack plates some days and just juicing in the morning and/or between meals on other days.
Teaching spin on some days while enjoying some WOD (workouts of the day) on others. Not every day, not all day, just some days.
And last but not least.. taking time for time. Time to sip on a glass of wine with my husband, to cook a good meal, to watch the sunset or sunrise, etc. etc. etc.
I’m not saying that this will be where my walk leads me forever. Who knows! But that’s the point. The point is to take time to make it your own. Find out what makes you feel WELL and go from there. Am I right?
So cheers to Walking in Wellness and cheers to detoxing the mind! Celestial Seasonings is letting me giveaway 4 boxes (2 winners, 2 boxes each) to any of you US readers. I actually asked if I could do this because I liked the tea so much. No joke!
To Win:
- Tell me how you see your wellness walk today. Is it changing? Is it just right?
- Check out the Celestial Seasonings Tea Challenge on Facebook
- Tweet about it with @CelestialTea and @LCCotter
That’s it. I’ll pick a random winner Friday, sound good? I know i just did a giveaway, but I really want to share this one too!
Cheers!
LC
p.s.
So many different great wellness walks out there right now. I’d check out purelytwins and lindsayslist to name a few!
Update: The winner of the Love Grown Hot Oats and granola is Bre from Canada!!! YEA BRE!
my wellness walk is to actually slow down and enjoy the scenery. I am always so go go go, that sometimes I forget to slow down and enjoy what really is going on. there is so much beauty in the world and if we don’t slow down to appreciate it, we miss it. so i think my runs are slowly turning INTO walks.
slow is good. so so good!
I have wondered about the detox teas. Do you think they really work?
I love your wellness walk, friend. It’s balanced and full of love and connection, with yourself, your husband, with the Earth, with God. It’s perfect. <3
I'm still trying to find my walk…it sort of slipped away for a while.
i have no clue if it really works, but I do LOOOVE the taste and it’s so light. And friend, I love YOUR BOLD walk!
My wellness walk has become more challenging as of late. I vowed to not get lazy with my health and fitness during the colder months, as I do every winter, so I signed up for the June 1 Tough Mudder. I have gradually increased the intensity of my workouts since the summer, but the training kicked into high gear three weeks ago. This includes upping my calories to 2500-3000 so I have enough fuel. It’s been tough but so rewarding, as I’ve seen my body transform into this sleek and powerful and beautiful being. Gotta love it!
that is a great INNER challenge too. WELL for the SOUL
I want to jump right into your last picture- heavenly!
My wellness walk is ever evolving. My daughter is 16 months and as we go through her different stages, my workouts do, too. I try to keep clean eating consistent and try to just stay active. I want to be a good role model and be around to enjoy Hailey for many (many many many) years to come!
you already are a wonderful role model britt!
My wellness walk right now is a mission to de-clutter my life. I feel that much of our happiness can be achieved by living with less. With kids, we’ve seemed to have more stuff than ever before. My desire to teach them, that we don’t need an abundance of things to be happy is fierce. Life must be balanced, it difficult to find the time and motivation to space clear, but it is so freeing and worth it in the end.
that is why i love you and admire you. Amazing mother!
I think a wellness walk should always be changing, yes? If you aren’t growing, you’re backsliding. That being said, sometimes growth hurts! I haven’t got it all figured out just yet, but each day brings new insights and new Words (if I’m willing to listen!).
And I have been looking for that Detox tea but haven’t found it yet! Loving the “get clean” tea from Republic of Tea though 🙂
I know! I couldn’t find it anywhere either! So i begged them to send me more and do a giveaway! haha.
My current wellness walk includes being kind to myself. No need to be so hard on myself. I am enough the way I am 🙂
My wellness walk is a continuous struggle.. yet, I have been in a good routine lately with crossfit in the mornings and immediately coming home and eating breakfast as I read the newspaper. I have been enjoying it and find it calming.
oh i hear ya. But i like where you are now!
My wellness walk is just trying to be less stressed and focus on the now. I think it’s been working for me pretty well 🙂 I just recently started drinking tea… I love the stuff!
I love this wellness walk theme! you are one of a rare few that I see truly walking their walk and talking their talk all the time. And being honest, transparent, and open. And I love that about you friend!
i love this! and love that you are taking care of yourself and the hubs is too 🙂 my wellness path has been to not expect so much of myself daily. i wish i could run more, work out more but i know that this time in my life is time for me to manage my work committments and not be too hard on myself 🙂
I’d say your wellness walk is being kind to yourself. xxoo
Hey – that’s me! 🙂 My wellness walk includes lots of food, lots of triathlon training, and lots of work — all while trying to have a social life at times. 🙂 It’s why my focus is on balance this year, and why I HAVE to start my day in God’s Word.
so so true friend! And i need to remind myself of that!
Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and see Kala’s position on her bed I seriously laugh out loud! Dogs are the best and they are such simple creatures. Play, smile, eat, and make their owners happy. 🙂 Cannot wait to sip on some wine and just be with you in Austin. XO
yes, can’t wait. Just got get all this work done first. ARGH!. Or you can help me. haha
Love it. My wellness walk right now includes finding my balance to live a fulfilling life, as well as figuring out some digestive issues I’m having!
you will friend. It always seems to get worse before it gets better, ya know? Keep me posted!
I am a huge tea fanatic, I drink it all day long and love how there are so many variations and flavors out there!
I love your wellness walk and that it encompasses all areas of life. I am enjoying developing mine as well. it includes coffee and Bible readings in the morning, followed by a walk with the dog. It includes naps after work or some time reading a book. It includes watching a funny tv show and ice cream in the evening. It includes being open to changes in life and not having to “figure out how it’ll all turn out” .
I would love to win Celestial Seasonings tea! I toured their plant in Boulder a few years ago. I tweeted this also.
As far as my wellness walk goes, I always work out to the max. The last two weeks I’ve had influenza, and that has forced me to take a week off and come back slowly and realize that I don’t always have to work out to the max. I can have some lower intensity days.
hey lady! you won! email me your address. cottercrunch at hotmail
Good question… I feel like I’m a little discombobulated, both in my fitness and my eating, which isn’t reflecting well on my energy levels. But, my awareness of it is part of the battle, I think — that and working towards better health with a positive attitude! 🙂 Awesome giveaway. I drink a ton of apple cinnamon tea in the afternoons.
Lindsay, I have to say this is the exact reason that I love your blog so much. You take time to talk about the “for reals”–like some days, I’m just too tired to think about working out. Some times I like to eat really different combos of food. Some days I wake up and my hair is NOT perfectly coiffed (gasp!). I feel like I actually get you because you DO walk the walk, in all its sweaty, stressed, sometimes-un-glamorous, super-amazing glory. Keep it up!
You are right!
I’m with you. Totally with you.
Right now my walk is just about staying positive! The winter here is rough, I’m in shape but need to keep a good outlook.
I love Celestial Seasonings Tea! My wellness walk is taking the time every morning to pray in my car on the way to work…and also along my runs I take time to talk to God…helps me get through my day 🙂
I spy PBJ Loving up there!
That is FOR SURE going to be a part of my wellness walk for life.
a necessity too!
p.s.
How are you?
I… am.
(0:
I am blessed. That is all I ever need to be (and remember).
Just reading your post puts my mind at ease, how do you always have that way with words my friend? I love the idea of a wellness walk. slowing down and going with it (or ‘rolling with it’ as Jo and I have been saying a lot lately). Life doesn’t always need to be a mad dash to the finish, huh?
totally! and i say this because i have to remind myself DAILY too. CONSTANTLY! You know how our minds work. sheesh!
Mine is going well. Movement t is a breeze, though the food is a bit more challenging.
it will come.. slowly but surely, yes?
You are a breath of fresh air!
tweeted! 🙂
My wellness walk today included just a cardio day at the gym – not the + core as I had planned. Ehhh, I got my sweat on, I feel good about myself, and that’s it!
you should feel good! you are fabulous!
It’s always changing – learning, exploring new philosophies/thoughts, trying new routines – and I like it that way! Literally, we are doing a “Wellness Walk” challenge at work – starts on Friday 🙂 Very timely! It’s a pedometer challenge with our Fitbits, and I’m pretty pumped to tackle it.
you have the Healthiest work environment! I love it!
Wellness Walk.. love it! My wellness walk right now is just to enjoy my life with all it has to offer, and continuing on working towards regaining my period. Also, I’m finding it’s important to just SLOW down & take in days instead of always feeling the need to go go go.
And i think God is right there with you on that walk. <3
Lately I feel like mine needs to slow down! Time seems like it’s flying by and this tea would be perfect to help me slow down and enjoy some “me” time during the day
i say go for it friend! When you think you need it, you really do!
Totally obsessed with Celestial Seasonings! I used to live in Boulder… and I went on a Celestial Seasonings PLANT TOUR! It was AMAZING!!! I got sooo excited and so into it, I dressed up like the plant workers with booties, hair net and ALL! AHH HA HA HA! 😉
no way! you are too awesome! I want to go!
I love the way your walks are sounding and looking! And how cute its your pup’s sleep position!?
My wellness walk is…a work in progress! I’ve been laying low for the past few months trying to rejuvenate.
By the way- count me out of the giveaway as I’m Canadian and (shock) don’t like tea! My husband, however, drinks sleepytime quite often before bed!
i swear we live parallel lives at times! haha
Agreed! If only I could live in a parallel location for some winter warmth!
for real!!
Went on a wellness walk after work today 🙂 It was so very much needed.
And the best part was at the end when I played on the swings!
Love the idea of a wellness walk Lindsay. It is ever changing and yours is full of so many nourishing elements. And you’re right – you can’t chug tea! Clearly, my wellness walk isn’t working for me right now as I’m sick as a dog (haha). So I’m focusing on healing and getting better!
sending you healing hugs!! Yes? that works!
Love this post! You’ve inspired me to think about my own wellness walk…mine is definitely going to have to include letting more things go and being grateful for all the things that are good in my life, and not dwell on the things that have gone wrong.
oh good! Grateful is a great way to walk
amen! Going forward, not back.
Oh, I love the idea of a ‘wellness walk,’ especially because it IS such a journey. As soon as you said “taking time for time” you KNOW that resonated with me. I need to take time for time. I need to stress less about numbers and minutes and focus on feelings.
i know how you feel. ANd it is sooo important to take time for time! YOU deserve it!
Love me some tea too! I have been trying to get more green tea back into my routine in the afternoon and I love Celestial Seasonings Jammin’ Lemon Ginger and Sleepytime for the evenings.
Really insightful post!!!! I can feel what you feel in my own way. As old as I am, I am still trying to find me… having tried to be everything to what others want a lot of my life. Not many 44 right now to do this but we shall see… I need to find work whether it is right for me or not.
I am trying to write the blog more to me vs. what I think others want to read.. maybe a bit of both! 🙂
I an on the search for me.. great post Lindsay!
Your walk has been so inspiring for us ALL!!
Oh I made a mess of that comment! 😉 55 year old – not 44! 😉 Thx for your comment!
My wellness walk has been a bit of a journey. One that I’m still on and trying to figure out. Right now it is just keeping stress low, enjoying life, and spending lots of time in prayer!
prayer is key! I agree! <3
I love tea, almost as much as I love my coffee!! Actually drinking a cup of tea while reading this 🙂
I think my wellness walk took a bit of a detour the last couple of months, need to start getting back on track. Wellness seems to have taken a backseat in the last bit…oops, but it happens so time to just keep moving forward!
you will. Slowly but surely. Just like us, right? Sending you hugs from TX
I’m still jealous of Heather getting to hang with you. Blend-vy? 😉 Pleaaaaaase come to Blend!!
My Wellness Walk is about figuring out my career and what I want to do after I graduate (in 3 months!!!). It’s a quiet walk at 7am with me carrying my heavy backpack to the bus stop for 30 minutes.
My Wellness Walk could use a little slow down. I feel like I’ve been go, go, go since November. I need to chill out, let go, and let God!
My Wellness Walk right now is about trying to find balance…and in that balance, contentment.
LOVE this! My wellness walk is definitely changing and ever-evolving. Right now it’s become more of a mental and emotional walk while keeping my feet planted in my 1/2 training. It’s been amazing and allowed me to really find some clarity. I’m excited for where the path is leading me.
I love that… wellness walk 🙂 I think I’m on a great path right now. Keeping things balanced. And now I’m going to make a cup of tea, because you made it sound so wonderful.
Have you tried puerh tea? I have a dear friend who sells it and it is amazing! http://desta.com/shop/ Her teas are so fragrant you could scent a room with them! and they’re so delicious 🙂 She’s also just an amazing woman, mother, humanitarian… so I love to help support her business!
