Happy Easter! Grab some Cadbury cream eggs and pull up a chair as I walk you through a few weekend truths.
Weekend truths are a semi vague way of letting you into our little life together. Truth can be funny, Truth can be hard, Truth can be joyous, Truth IS PURPOSEFUL!
So here goes.
Truth is… we are stocked! Special delivery from Udis Gluten Free and from Bestowed Box. Truth is I am BEYOND THANKFUL! Being an Udis Gluten Free Community Leader has it’s perks, yes, but TRUTHFULLY it’s the people I engage with everyday that make it amazing and worth making the time for!
I’ll be sharing more information on these goodies soon!
Truth is… the husband arrived home Friday after being gone for 3 weeks. He had been in Hawaii working a few training camps and racing. Truth is there was a little surprise from Quintanaroo when he walked in the door. FYI, QR is his bike sponsor.
Truth is… I took a week off working and working out. Yes, I needed it. When I left for Hawaii (to go Sherpa the race), I left all my work here. My classes were covered and Healthy Bites were put on hold. I squeezed in one run while in Hawaii but then opted to just walk half way through it. Coming back to reality was HARD—>TRUTH —> but I felt so refreshed and that time away was MORE than NEEDED.
Truth is … we went to Easter service last night so that we could have a more quiet Sunday morning. I got all fancy and put on my Easter pearls. Truth is I haven’t worn a skirt or pearls in probably over a year. ha! Our afternoon on Easter will be more relaxed. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs at my parents wit the whole family. Flip Flops and shorts attire.
Truth is … we can quickly lose focus on what’s important. Guilty! My husband has been back for less than 48 hours we already let the stresses of life build up on us. Post Easter service arguments are always the best way to celebrate, yes? Ugh, wrong! But the truth is …. WE NEEDED IT! We needed to communicate things in order to change things. Oh it’s so easy to get back to the grind of life and forget that we are made to carry each other burdens, not add to them. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the TO-DO’s of life and forget that sometimes it’s better to… TO-DON’T! Don’t worry about a plan, don’t worry that you (we) are still unsure of our future, don’t worry about a clean house, or trying to catch up on work. I’m talking about myself here as you can see. Instead, we’re trying to rest in God’s truth, His Plan, His Purpose. Easier said than done at times, but worth every bit of effort.
So cheers to not being perfect! No perfect plan. No perfect marriage. No perfect way of life.
Cheers to embracing simplicity and accepting the day for what it is…..in God’s hands.
Now… go grab some Marshmallow Peeps and enjoy the day!
Happy Easter!
LC
i know people have asked this before, but what devotional do you read? I would love to start on a new one and i love all of the quotes you post from yours!
thx!
I love your wisdom! Can you just come and impart your wisdom to me all the time?? I’m with Paige… I think sometimes those little arguments help to bring us closer. Although, they are never fun in the moment!
I actually woke J up from his couch snooze-fest to read him the quote about genuine love! So beautiful and important to realize that love is in the day-to-day moments – a cup of coffee in bed or a kiss on the forehead. 🙂
well said friend! p.s. how’s married life?!
Sometimes I think of needed arguments like hitting the “reset button.” It can be very therapeutic to hash things out…even if they way in doing so isn’t so eloquent 😉
that’s exactly what we did! hallelujah!
p.s.
NO BLEND?!! so sad!! everything ok?
I can ALWAYS count on your for TRUTH! and HONESTY! I love this post for all of that and more. Sounds like a much needed weekend, together, reuniting, and enjoying, and trying not to let life stress creep in TOO much. It happens though, you are human, right? TRUTH 🙂 XO!
thank you for loving me through it. Real and raw.. we need to be that way, yes?
I flippin hate peeps.
WTF? just kidding.. I don’t like them either.
now reese’s eegs are a whole other story!
LOVE your truths. Especially the one about the argument — sometimes its THOSE words that need to be spoken the most that often go unsaid. I am a big fan of productive arguments, that get the words out there, that leave no feelings harbored inside, and everything on the table. SO important. I also love, love, LOVE how unscheduled your Easter turned out to be — I LOVE the idea of hot dogs and burgers on the grill, complete with flip flops!! Perfection, focusing on the RIGHT things on a holiday like we just had. Focusing on HIS GLORY instead.
amen to that! i know you can relate, which is why i love you more!
That devotional was PERFECT for me this past week… I think I need to read it daily right now!
me too!!! such good soul growing reading!
I (we) have been working through all of those same things in he past few days!! And you’re right, difficult sometimes, but necessary!
love that we can relate… and ENCOURAGE!
I say this too much but it’s in my heart.
I ADORE YOU—YOU ARE SOSO flipping WISE.
no I ADORE my MIZ!!!
Happy Easter Lindsay!! I love your weekend truths. I really do. So many great insights here. I think that I need “Cotter Truths” to pop up in my inbox or phone every day to help remind me of the important things. PS Love your pearls!
haha, me too! i am constantly reminding myself!
Happy Easter to you and James. Thank you for sharing and being REAL. 🙂
thank you for accepting the REAL me!
Love it Linds. That is all. LOVE it. Need your wisdom every single day. 😉
it’s not my wisdom, just God’s truth. I just share it in a completely ungraceful way. LOL!
Happy Easter, Lindsay! <3 WOW. This post really touched my heart…in a raw but very good way. I frequently find myself wrapped up in the "to-do's" of life–believing that where I am right now isn't satisfactory enough; that I need to be *doing* more. Curve balls are thrown from the right and from the left, and sometimes doing those things that I had planned becomes really difficult. The reminder that God places barriers in our path in order to craft our lives in meaningful and interesting ways–and to force us to TRUST in him— is so reassuring! One of Easter's greatest messages is that we have NOTHING to fear. In exchange for faith, we're promised peace and everlasting life! Thanks for this post, and for reminding me of all of these things! xoxoxo <3
oh friend, i know! we can all relate in some way about those barriers, yes? But i am glad it did. I felt i needed to be raw and real so that we can all share in those burdens, then encourage!
Truth is so great and so hard.
I already sent James a Cadbury Cream Egg picture this morning!
And good for you for taking that week off!!
haha awesome! hope you had a great easter chuck!
You seem to always post these insightful things when I need to hear them. I don’t know how you do it.
I needed wine and perspective today. I got both, with a side of yoga. (Instead of work….oops.)
told ya, we have similar brains and bodies. 😉
happy easter my friend!
happy easter!! Hope it’s a NEW beginning for you!
Happy Easter, Lindsay! Mmmm I spy with my little eye some coconut butter. Noms. Taking a week off is always a good thing and allows some major re-focusing, but I hear you it can be a total hard truth to come back to reality and get back into gear! Life stressors do build up so quick, too quick – I find myself always letting the little things pile up and then I’m just one big disaster. Loving your words at the end “no perfect plan”. So true, so under spoken.
agreed! i feel stronger after that rest too! Good to hear from you friend. xxoo
yes yes, and thank goodness we don’t need a perfect plan, just one day at a time, yes?
Back to reality is never fun and sometimes a slap in the face…Here’s to a new week, a new month, and moving through the imperfections. Now whether or not I should devour that Easter cake. Decisions decisions…
dig into it girl~
I’m definitely jealous that you can wear flip flops and short for Easter. I need to move to TX! I’m glad that the hubs is home now. Enjoy!
yes you do!! come visit at least!
So good to hear your words of wisdom this afternoon, how do you always have such perfect timing. LOVE you so much! Happy Easter!
well your wisdom is rubbing off. Happy Easter!
No Peeps for me, but I lucked out on some cream eggs and kisses (sans mac nuts though 🙁 ). Happy Easter, lady!
Well said, friend! So many great truths here. Love that glimpse of your Easter outfit too! You are so beautiful, inside and out; Happy Easter to you and James and thanks for your honest, raw and real blogging – so relatable and so true! Vulnerability is a beautiful thing. Enjoy your fam time!
Happy Easter!
I’m glad you guys will have a relaxing Sunday. Your truths are a great reminder for all of us!
Ahh, yes… we are not perfect. Thanks for the reminder. I hope that discussion cleared things up and you can have a nice, stress-free Easter. Enjoy the flip flops and burgers!
it sure did! and now we are even better. Just takes effort to vulnerability. Happy Easter to you and your sweet family!
I am loving the warmer, flip-flops wearing weather! Now it had just better stick around!
truth is… your hubs is hot! 😉 hehe happy easter girly!
NO PEEPS for me!!! LOL! Just artichokes and some crazy snacks that will showcased on an episode of GEC 😉
As hard as it was to come back, I took three weeks off workouts to get through work stress. Best decision I made! Sometimes you just have to give yourself room to breathe.
There are so many things I would like resolved in my life, it’s in the letting go and trusting God that it either works out or your mind quiets and doesn’t make such a big deal of it until its time. Love your truths and you Lindsay! Happy Easter <3
Love the truths in here Lindsay! Life is not perfect! I have been married 29 years & it just is not! Always learning as I say! 🙂 Also, many talk about planning life & 5 & 10 years plans… yes, there is time for that BUT hey, if your time right now is not for that, more power to you & realizing that & accepting that & telling people, hey this is me & my life! – enjoy the ride! 🙂
HUGS!
you are always so great with words. Yes, yes to it all! it’s your journey, your ride. xxoo
Happy Easter, Cotters!
What type of devotional book do you read? I always see your posts and always NEED what is written.
*submitted to quickly* I’d love to have one of my own!

I hear ya on taking a week off and getting back to the workouts..it’s tough!! Thankfully it’s fairly easy to get back into the swing! AMAZING goodies from Udis and Bestowed box! Great idea to go to church the night before, enjoy the entire day with your family!
yes it is. Happy Easter! Is my room ready? I want to come explore!
I love how honest you were! We’ve been the exact same since coming back & I’m hoping to refocus and find balance!
it’s always tricky, but we can do it! focus focus then let go and live!
Happy Easter! I’m glad I took the time to read your blog today!
me too friend! Happy Easter!
Yes, perfection is just not reality. And that’s okay. That’s what keeps us going and growing. Happy Easter, Lindsay!
amen to that! i never want to stop growing in that area either. xxoo Happy Easter!
