Okay, so I may be posting this late on Tuesday but I can’t pass up a good alliteration for a post, am I right?
And after posting this picture on instagram this morning, I thought I might have some explaining to do anyway, hence the TUMMY TALK.
So pull up a chair and a cup of coffee or tea and let’s get GUTSY, right Sarah?
Here’s my daily line up. Yep, all these play a HUGE part of my gut health.
In the vlog below (yes I realize it’s long), I talk about WHY I started taking these supplements and how they work. I’ll also do a mini recap below.
The ReNew Life Kids Probiotic Chewables were sent to me by Renew Life Inc. I actually requested the kids chewables. Haha, yes, I like candy tasting supplements. But these are 100% natural with nothing artificial.
I mentioned in the vlog how I use them, but just wanted to repeat it here. They are great a daily probiotic, taken with meals. I always feel BETTER when I load up on probiotics, especially during times of stress or traveling. These have been great for both! Kids will love them, Mom approved too! You can always buy the ReNEW FLORA (regular or kids). This is basically a mega dose of probiotics. I highly recommend it! 3 billion HEALTHY BACTERIA in one chewable. And again, nothing artificial. No dyes, fake sugars, etc. You can see more information about their FLORA line here.
For the rest of the supplements, check out Premier Research Labs and Symbiotics.
Here’s why (as mentioned in the vlog).
- Glutamine– Glutamine is a key amino acid that supports muscle and gastrointestinal tract health while promoting intestinal mucosa health. Glutamine is necessary in the production of glutathione, a key liver nutrient.
- HCl-created to assist the body’s natural stomach acids in the digestion and absorption of nutrients, especially protein, vitamin B12, calcium, iron and other minerals.
- Colostrum-
- Boosts strength, stamina and lean muscle mass production
- Promotes healthy intestinal flora and supports the entire GI tract
- Encourages cellular re-growth for healthy skin, bones, muscles, nerves and cartilage
- Probiotics- see above
- Digestase (enzymes)-plant-based enzyme formula supports the digestion of carbohydrates and protein. The one I use is actually used for those who are gluten-intolerant and who eat out at restaurants, Digestase-SP™ is an excellent formula to take after each restaurant meal (which may have hidden gluten in certain foods).

I prefer chewables or tablets, not powders. Just my preference. Powders are too much work for me. But I do have other health professionals who prefer it. You can easily add powders to shakes, yogurt, etc.
So there’s my tummy talk Tuesday. It’s short and to the point. If you have time, watch the vlog and here my story why. But bottom line, we all need gut health help, especially those who are active and under stress. Start taking care of that gut before it’s too late!
Anyone else have some KEY gut health supplements? Any other tummy talk questions?
Cheers,
LC
Finally watched this video!! 🙂 Yipppie thanks for the help. My insides are still paying for what labor did haha 😉 P.s. you are so cute.
I’m doing something new now that involves taking oregano pills and basically garlic pills, to help really knock down inflammtion in combo with the probiotics and digestive enzymes…. I really had no idea how much my gut was effecting things until this last year. whew!
Aww, after about 5 minute in, I lost the audio on your video…bummer! Thanks for doing a little recap after the video though…I’ve been thinking a LOT about trying a probiotic supplement for the last several weeks now as my usually sporadic tummy trouble seems to be happening more often now…although I have no idea why. I LOVE that these come in chewables! I have no problem swallowing pills, but I am so much better at remembering to take them when it feels like I’m having candy! 😉 I swear by my chewy calcium supplement from GNC…but that’s only until I’m done with it, because I’m totally splurging on some Adora disks once I finish these off…those things are soooooo good! Anyhoodles, thanks for the info girlie! Definitely going to be checking these out!
the video crapped out (pun intended), ahh bugger! email me if you try any of these!!!
Any reason you take the kids version of the probiotic? I’m looking for something like this and just want to hear your thought process!
Well, i like chewables. Maybe it’s because they taste good so i remember to take them. haha. But also, sometimes the adult ones are too potent for me. Just my thoughts.
I need to try some of these. I’m on these antibiotics now and they make me so nauseous… it’s awful but to kill the infection I have too… boo. Do you think taking these probiotics will help? I was taking probiotics before but have fallen off. Gotta get back on that. Thanks for this!
Lots to “digest” here Lindsay!!! I am going to read more carefull when I have more time BUT thank you for putting all the time into this post! My tummy fights a lot of healthy foods but my whole life – I am just used to tooting! 😉 The bloating though, do not like! :O
haha, nice pun! Healthy food can be hard to digest if our guts are always stressed. I agree. Thats why i take an enzyme for sure!
<3 the alliteration!!! and tummy talk of course. I'm at work so I can't watch your vlog but I have been trying to be good about taking preemptive steps to help my digestive health BEFORE problems happen. Alas during my vaca I fell off the wagon. But I must get back on it so thanks for inspiring me!
oh yes, do it! Post vacay tummy fix is always needed. haha, yes? But glad you had a good time!
I am ALWAYS up for tummy talk, and I love hearing about new supplements for me (and my kids) to try! I’m about to rotate up my probiotics again, so I think I may switch up to the Ultimate Flora and try the Colostrum as well. I really think that stress has played the biggest part in my tummy troubles lately :(. And my kids keep getting sick despite their current vitamins, and they both love pineapple, so they’ll be starting the colostrum as well! Plus, my daughter doesn’t like the gummy probiotics that my son takes (by Rainbow Life), so we’ll have to try these with her. You’re a great saleswoman! Thanks friend xoxo
I love this post. Truth be told when I saw that picture first posted on insta I was stoked and hoping to see a post about it. I’m a huge fan of digestive supplementation along with the occasional kombucha 😉 I am going to give some of these a shot [HCL and colostrum]. I currently use VSL#3, a powder, which as you say not the biggest fan but it does the trick. Also Jarrow allergy friendly probiotics are good. Digestive enzymes work magic too for helping with fruit, grain, lactose, ect! Thanks for your video!
Love jallow, good brand! let me know how the Hcl works sarah!
I love my probiotics. Sometimes I wonder if it’s in my head since there isn’t a huge amount of medical support on taking them, but honestly it’s been years since I got really sick and I think it fights all those bug germs the kids bring home (knocking on wood).
my thoughts exactly melanie! we think alike!
So I don’t take anything and I’ve been thinking for a while that I probably should. I’ve been thinking that a probiotic and/or digestive enzyme might be of help. Now you’ve got my wheels spinning again! Have to investigate further.
oh yes, get it on it!! Especially now that you are running. Let me know when you do, k?
Love love love! I love when you do vlogs b/c I feel like we are chatting in person. 🙂 (one more month!!) You know I take tummy supplements. Right now, I do a probiotic, marshmallow extract, and chamomile supplements. My doctor switches them up every now and then!
i can’t wait till we actually DO!
I love probiotics! And kiddies ones always feel like a sweet treat don’t they!?! Thanks for this post, very helpful!
hehe, yes. Do your kids take probiotics too? I still order my colostrum from NZ and AUS. Great products there!
Questions! So you mentioned that you take your probiotic with each meal? I started taking an ultimate flora probiotic a few weeks ago, but it says on the box to take one per day. Does it help to take 3 per day? Same question with the Colostrum, which I actually just ordered because 1) my GI system is off and on very UNHAPPY and 2) I have a few very stressful months coming up…
Hey friend! What brand are you taking? Certain ones are stronger than others. Tell me the amount per capsule.
I’m using this one right now, but need to get a new box soon: http://www.renewlife.com/ultimate-flora-rts-daily-probiotic-15-billion.html
that one is pretty potent. Which is good! have you tried an enzyme too? Or actually, you might like the Max B stress for gut, liver, and mood. I swear by it!! http://www.prlabs.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_25&products_id=218 oh and colostrum is what i triple up on.
I’ve never done anything other than the probiotic, and I’ve never stuck with one consistently because they usually make things worse. This is the first I’ve found that works! I’ll try out the Max B stress as well
I can’t wait to watch the video once I’m back home on my own computer! I’ve had my recent concerning tummy troubles, and it seems like they keep getting worse and then slightly better and repeat cycle. It’s weird because I’m developing all these reactions to foods…like hives, itchiness. Bizarre. Hopefully these will go away, or it’s a sign my bodies telling me something. At least I see my Doctor soon.
I’m so happy your digestion and issues have cleared up a lot! You’re so strong! xo
let me know whatcha think! And I am wondering if you have another food allergy. Hmmm or fructose.
Oh interesting! I never thought about fructose…I was wondering if it could be a mold allergy. Guess I’ll have to start testing things out again!
Such an important post, I know many people who could benefit from your words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing!
thank YOU for sharing to others. As athletes, it’s crucial for our gut to work properly and retain nutrients, yes!?
I’m sharing my review of ReNew Life tomorrow 🙂 I actually ended up lovinggg their probiotic and was so happy to have the opportunity to try it after the first one I tried didn’t help…
oh yay! I bet this has done wonders for you! yes? p.s I need a tummy update from ya!
i have always heard great things about probiotics but have never tried them. i definitely need to consider taking supplements to help with my colitis and other GI issues. i have an appointment with my GI dr next week so i will ask him if these are good options for me!
KIM!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can’t believe you aren’t on all these! Oh woman, get thee to a vitacost ASAP! hehe. Order, really. it will help!
That is quite the line up! But you know I understand. I have about the same line up for my adrenals/hormones/liver. And I use that premier labs brand, too – good stuff!
Thanks for sharing. My sister takes probiotics now and she might be interested in this brand. I recently started to take glutamine mostly after workouts. I might be taking it all wrong. I’ve not tried any of the others.
This is an awesome post! I take a pre and probiotic blend and I can tell a HUGE difference when I let them run out and don’t take them for a few days (I’m so bad about this!). I don’t take glutamine, but I question now if I should? I try to get as much as I can from natural sources, but I am serious when it comes to my gut health. I will take pills all day long if they make my stomach feel better!
mmmm, i would take glutamine if you are running more. Just my thoughts.
What a very informative and eye-opening post. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this post with all of us!
oh good! glad it helped!
I have sworn by probiotics since I started taking them about two years ago, and have been looking into possibly starting a few other supplements so this post was super informative, thank you!
oh girl, you would love all these, especially if you have poor digestion. Just a thought!
My line up is pretty close to that – chewable multi vitamins, digestive enzymes (pills), pro-biotics, and I used to take HCl. I also take Biotin because I’m vain and it makes my hair and nails grow fast. 🙂
Oh, and I take Rhodiola for stress management. It RULES.
haha, i do too! It’s called Max B and it’s a adrenal fatigue support but also has biotin and b12 and folate. LOVE IT!
If you watched my latest video – YOU KNOW I have digestion issues – If only you saw my mini Vitamin Shop in my kitchen, all digestive enzymes, probiotics, HCL, liver pills, etc!! Ha, maybe I will take a picture actually, Ah ha ha ha ah!!
As of the moment, there is a HAPPY BACTERIA dance party going on in my stomach! 😉
ohhhh I need to go watch!! thank YOU!
ahhh I so need to start adding some of this in to my vitamins. I think I’ve got some of the stuff in my vega shakes?? but I really should make sure and starting adding in some stuff.
Very interesting information. I always learn so much about vitamins, etc. from your blogs!
There is so much I have to learn about it all to figure out what I should be taking regularly.
Thanks for this insight! And how can you go wrong with chewables?!
you can never go wrong with chewables.. well there are some that are not good, but these are not them. hehe
ahhhhhh alliteration is the best and totally not worth passing up 😀 thanks for doing this girl! probably one of the most informative posts ever
oh and love YOU for supporting my geek side. hehe
I am under some serious stress this week and will be traveling to Boston this weekend for the marathon, so thank you for the reminder that I should pay extra attention to my gut health. Heading to the frig for my probiotics right now…
yes yes, stock up before boston! And rest up! yay, cheering for YOU!
Thank you!! I watched the video but the sound cut out around 4:30… You are darling… Anyways, working on my gut right now to try to get rid of an auto-immune disease. Actually about to try gluten free even tho I don’t have celiac to see if it helps. Did you notice a differnce very soon after trying supplements? Or did it take awhile? Thank for info… 🙂
going Gluten free is going to be a HUGE help! it will start the healing process, less inflammation too!. then i would expect change in about 3 weeks or so. Give it time to adjust. oh and sorry about the video. I will redo it , eek!
Great post! I can always use some tummy talk over here. I take probiotics and I was taking digestive enzymes for a while. I take glutamine for after workouts, but I guess it’s a bonus it’s good for the gut, too!
totally a bonus!! way to go woman!
I love glutamine, but I take mine for muscle recovery/development. It’s good stuff!
P.S. I love children’s chewy vitamins. 😉
we need more chewables in our life, always.
This is certainly eye-opening. Amazing recap. I had no idea about the breakdown of nutrients in the body to this extent.
I love chewable vitamins:)
oh glad it helped! cheers to chewables!
I’m just now learning more about gut health …. and so far I’m realizing I need to pay more attention to this. I’ve started taking a probiotic and immediately noticed a difference in how my body is processing foods. After this post, I’m realizing there is more for me to learn. And I tend to be a stress ball, so I’m guessing this would be awesome for me to research. 🙂
i bet you would love enzymes too! let me know if you try any
right there with ya – we take a lot of the same ones! I had taking pills, so I try to do powders or liquids, not always easy to get down lol
all your healing posts with the supplements made me think of my own journey, so thank you for sharing!
I didn’t get the chance to watch the video, so thank you for the short and sweet rundown 🙂 there are certainly a few things I still need to add to my routine, I really like these suggestions and will check them out! I love probiotics when travelling too, especially kombucha 😉 I eat a TON of ginger root, that definitely helps my digestion… the more the better!
amen to that! my homebrew kombucha goes so fast because i inhale it! LOL!
