Welcome to a little Food for thought Wednesday. I could sit here and tell you about all the new food finds and summer meals we’ve been eating lately.
I could tell you about my new favorite NEW ZEALAND Sauvignon Blanc.
I could tell you about my recent Purely Twins Recipe I made and am obsessed with. Plantain bread with butter on top is awesome by the way!
I could tell about my strange but good Cotter Creations. There’s a salad underneath there somewhere.
But I think there is something else to be said here on this Food for Thought Wednesday. Something BIGGER. Something BETTER.
Seasons. But more importantly, YOUR SEASON and MY SEASON.
No, I’m not necessarily talking about summer, although that is the current weather season we are in. I’m talking about your season of LIVING.
I believe we all go through similar seasonal patterns. There is a season of DOING, a season of WAITING, and a season of UNDOING.
The Doing Season is one where we are actively making changes, putting our DREAM BIG plans into action, working hard, and maybe even creating new relationships on the way. I know several men/women who are in that stage now. Embracing it!
See the kiwi in chobani shirt? Top 10 men at Rev3! He’s DOING good!

Then there is the WAITING season. The season where we make plans but have to wait to put them into action. The season where we need to practice our patience with others (in relationships), with ourselves, with our lives. It’s a season of thanksgiving. Are you there? Waiting for plans but knowing that your patience will PAY OFF. Being thankful for opportunities TO COME. Trusting God’s plan, keeping HOPE, FAITH, etc. I think this is an important character building season, one that cannot be rushed. Obviously.
And last but not least there is the UNDOING season. This is where I see many of us are today or NEED to be get there sooner versus later. We’ve worked hard, we’ve gone through many changes after patiently waiting for these changes, we’re physically, mentally, and emotionally DONE. NOT burnt out, just done. Therefore we need to UNDO that build up and REST!
We undo by working less, resting more, and spending time in solitude as well as with friends/family. We laugh, we play, we forget about the TO DO LIST. WE NEED THIS SEASON in order to get through the rest. We need to UNDO our mental tangles and focus on the day to day moments.
I’ve just come off a DOING season and I know I have another one coming in a few weeks or maybe even as soon as next month. Therefore I embracing a season of UNDOING NOW! I’m putting Healthy Bites on hold for a month or so.
I’m trying to sneak away for a little relaxation time (hopefully that will pan out). And I’m undoing the fast pace life we’ve been charging at the past few months. Still blogging, yes. I don’t blog but 3x a week, so it’s not a big deal. Still teaching classes, yes, but not subbing or do any EXTRA. Like I said, it’s needed in order to keep up with the other seasons. I’m not burnout, but I don’t want to get there. I don’t want to neglect what’s needed. Balance, right?
So here’s to FOOD for Thought Wednesday! A little WIAW with Mental Nourishment.
That’s my SEASON.
Do you know yours? Are you embracing it?
Cheers,
LC
Love this approach of looking at life’s season’s. I just started a new job in May and have been going on a lot of first dates. I’m also in the early, slow steps of setting up a private nutrition practice so I have something to grow and nurture and keep me motivated in those moments where the daily clinical grind gets overwhelming. Thank you for this post 🙂
I’m in a waiting season. I’m trying to be PATIENT. rest up my dear friend xoxo
I am in an undoing phase, so much so that I have even put running, the one activity that has always been my escape, on a very light schedule. I am enjoying more time with my family and creating a summer vacation to remember, spending less time on the computer and having full conversations with my husband (you get the idea) Complete down time is tough with little kids, but I have re-defined what relaxation is. xoxo
that sounds wonderful! you need that time friend. Hugs!
Plantain bread 😯 😀
We’re still stuck in the drowned-in-work season. Not really enjoying it … 😕
Great post! I think I am in a do season, but I should probably be in a chill out and give up season. Luckily a short vaca isn’t too far away and I can reset.
In the season of patience! I need to wait, slow down and trust things will come together!
they will! Just gotta let go, yes?
The Purely Twins are recipe Magicians!!!!!! Seriously! lol. OOOO LA LA – Paleo Wraps! WHAT THE BEEEPPPPP – I gotta look for these 😉
And you totally deserve a little break, so GO FOR IT! 🙂
well they are made from coconut meat, boo! not good for gigi, right? You need a wrap made from pumpkin! hehe
Good for you for recogonizing it before you get to burnout season, thereby skipping it altogether. I’m still working on that. I’m in the middle of my recharge season and it has been LOVELY. The transition to DOING season is going to be brutal though.
I want to try those wraps!
i love your undoing season.. can i come UNDO with you? please. I’ll bring the wraps!
Way to recognize your season…so wise. Yes, I think I know my seasons, just need to adhere to it! 🙂
and your summer break is definitely UNDOING.. i hope!
YES YES YES! We maybe going through opposite seasons, but they are both seasons that we need to DREAM BIG, inspire, heal, and continue to be fearless. Can’t wait to see you in Texas! XOXO Please have that bottle of wine chilled. LOL!
of course! get here! Been thinking about you all day. Hugs!
In all things give thanks! …In times of rest, savour the stillness and in times of action, be grateful for the ability to act.
Love love love,
the cc
amen to that meg! well said!
so happy you liked our plantain bread 🙂 thanks for the link love too!!
and yes we are still working hard over here but also not over doing things either, as we are still healing and don’t want to overdo it either. we want to relax more and do things with family and friends.
cheers to this season of having more me time 🙂
HUGS
you two have come so far in your seasons! such inspiration!
Oh my friend. Yes. Absolutely. I feel like this year so far has been very much a season of doing and I’m getting ready to embrace of season of undoing…i hope! I know that I need it. While I’m a little (selfishly) sad about the HB break, I hope that you enjoy it! xox
i’ll make you a deal, take me to hawaii and i’ll roll balls. I know i keep inviting myself. LOL!
I feel like I’m going through all three seasons at once! Gosh, I really need to simplify more and get more rest… soon! Praying for complete rest, rejuvination and peace for you my friend. Enjoy your well-deserved break! xoxo
i have a feeling that undoing season is actually DOING more for YOU righ t now. Hugs!
Glad you’re preventing burnout before it happens- so wise!
Let me know when you’re back- I want to try some of these HBs out finally!
I’m definitely in the undoing phase right now getting ready to jump back into doing!
Hope you enjoy your down time!
doing IM training, yes? 😉
Glad you are going to give yourself a break and time to recharge before you enter your “doing” season again!!!
recharging… YES YES YES
Love that book and all the daily devotional reads you post. It’s always so applicable and comes at the perfect timing.
So glad the hubs is doing better!
Enjoy your relaxation! You DESERVE it!
i know, i love them! so good for the soul!
You had me at New Zealand sauv blanc 🙂
The “Waiting” season will always be a challenge for me! Once I have accomplished the Doing, I’m real good at resting (undoing) =) No problem there, I’ve always known when rest is needed, and do my best to do it! But the waiting is sooo hard! I know God’s timing is perfect, but it’s that dang anticipation that gets me! Patience, Molly 😉
Liked this post a lot, enjoy your “undoing” cotter crunch!
but the waiting season is probably the best “GROWING” season for you too, right? God’s plan.
Wow, I love this. You put into words exactly what I’ve been struggling with recently. I actually wrote about it yesterday. I have a hard time “undoing” and resting. I feel the need to constantly go, go, go. But you’re right, my season of “doing” is going to be coming soon when school starts back and I’m back at teaching. Right now, I need to focus on enjoying “undoing,” resting, and rejuvenating so I’ll be ready to “do” again. Thank you for the reminder!
i think that is our society. We feel guilty resting, when actually it’s God’s way for us, ya know?
You deserve some time off my friend. And maybe my seasons go faster than the real seasons LOL. Right now I’m definitely in the doing season, but really want a rest season. But I have the momentum going for new things and am excited to keep the ball rolling. Hugs!
oh they sure do, it’s like lighting bolt seasons! haha. I need a longer undoing.
GO KIWI GO!! That’s amaze.
New Zealand wines, I mean so good. I’m on a Pinot Grig kick lately though.
Your daily scripture shares are my faves, thank you for always posting these moving passages.
have a great 4th!
mmm, we need to WINE together.. in NZ? yes?
I’m glad you’re taking some time off for yourself. Everyone needs a break after hectically working, training, or whatever is going on during your DOING season. I seem to be stuck in the WAITING season a lot because I feel like my life isn’t panning out the way I want it to…. If, at all. But I guess that’s what the waiting season is all about.
true, and it’s not knowing that it is the hardest. BUT.. it will come together! Promise!
Undoing very soon…12 days of complete disconnection. I think summer will be my season to step back and reconnect with myself more so than ever before. I can feel it coming 🙂
Can I be in multiple seasons at once? Because I feel like I’m DOING but also WAITING. Doing is fun but exhausting. Waiting is hard. Undoing sounds pretty nice right now, though. Maybe I’ll try to incorporate some undoing in my weekend : ).
you should! i think undoing needs to happen more often, yes? 😉
Most aspects of my life are in the doing, a few are in the waiting but I could DEFINITELY work on some undoing… love this post!
i think your undoing is coming soon friend. post move!
I love your food for thought posts. You just get it and I love it!
I just came off my undoing season and it felt freakin’ good to do nothing. And it looks like you are doing it right! Now, I’m back into the doing and I love it even more.
so glad you are rested and back at it! well done friend!
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a great post Lindsay! I love this: We undo by working less, resting more, and spending time in solitude as well as with friends/family. We laugh, we play, we forget about the TO DO LIST. WE NEED THIS SEASON in order to get through the rest. We need to UNDO our mental tangles and focus on the day to day moments.
I am there.. working my way back to have the energy to get to the DOING again….
ENJOY YOUR UNDOING! You deserve it!
thank you friend! i sure will! wish i could come undo with you on your 10 minute walks!
I love your thought process! I am definitely in the doing season, and so over the waiting season. Gotta make some life changes stat and I am the only one who can make them happen!
yes, well said Kaitlin!
And here I was just calling them phases… but seasons sounds much more pleasant 😀 I’m currently in waiting… and it’s driving me crazy. I made quite a few decisions in June that are going to go on and introduce some major changes to my life, buuuuut it’s going to take some time. Sigh. At least I’ve got both feet on the path, though 🙂
i need to know about these plans! update me!
Love this! You are so smart to take some “undoing” time. I need to be better about that instead of leaping from one stressful undertaking to another!
Glad your hubby is having such great results!
oh yes, leaping stresses is never good. Maybe it’s time to undo , right?! xxoo
I’d definitely say I’ve been in the waiting season and I think I’m gearing up for the DOING. It’s crazy and I’m trying to get myself together for what’s to come. But really, I’m just trying to keep my confidence up and remember that I can do ANYTHING I set my mind to!
oh friend, i know you have been, but i feel like the waiting will be over soon. <3 ya!
This is so awesome! I’ve never thought of “seasons” in this way before, but I love it! I think I know my seasons, and some of them I definitely have to try to embrace more and just let things be! Wow…this is just brilliant!
yes, it’s hard at times, i agree. But worth it! fully embrace it!
you already know my answer…loving it!
i sure do! and i love that you are honoring that! <3 you!
I truly enjoyed your food for thought 🙂 thanks for sharing. Truth be told – I could really use an Undoing season right now, but it seems so far far away with exams and master thesis piling up. Guess I just have to make some me time soon and take a few days off. Thanks for the reminder!
yes, even a few hours of undoing.. GO FOR IT! <3
Whoa! I need those Paleo wraps in my life! I love wine here and there but it makes me really sreepy…zzzZZ lol
LOL! well we can cheers each others wine/beer choices, k?
Yes – I always love your food for thought posts! So right.
This is such a great way to reflect on the seasons, and to focus on the undoing.
PS This makes me really want to try that plantain socca – looks so darn good.
you need to get that plantain bread ASAP! then go UNDO, hehe.
a season of undoing – i like it! summer is definitely my time!
you are soooo undoing and undoing it well linz!
Im so so so UNDOING right now.
and watching others do.
and cheering others on…
i love that you are cheering! that’s is needed too!
This is such a beautiful reflection, thanks for sharing.
I would say that I am happily in the “undo” season right now and am loving it.
feels good, right?!
AGREE! April – June were months of UNDOING of sorts – relaxing, vacations, and less blogging and training. And then there was a little WAITING, but as summer/fall approaches, it’s back to DOING – time to get my job training going, marathon training, blog more, et all.
Life is full of seasons and ironically they seem to go hand in hand with the actual seasons (for me) 🙂
and you’re ready! go for it!
You are so right about the seasons… I think I’m in between waiting and doing. I just need a lttle more clarity on the path to be full on DOING. and I am ready! 🙂
Good for you taking abreak! (Selfishly, I’m glad I got my HB order in under the wire.)
for you, anything!
Wow girl! Your perspective on the way seasons need to look like just BLEW me out of the water right now!!! I know for me I am in a waiting season—waiting for a teaching job(still) waiting for a man waiting for a family, but I also can’t burn myself out or else I am going to crash. Which I honestly feel like could happen soon. I am soo busy these next few weeks(next week is VBS at church, following week I am housesitting for the music pastor, and then the 23rd-31st Ill be in Belize on a mission trip). I need to refuel, recharge and relax before I go.
yes friend, do it. Just a day or two. I know it will be amazing UNDOING time too! <3
I never thought to look at seasons this way.. but I love the way you think my dearest! Right now I’m in a mix between the undoing & doing season. Does that make sense? I’m undoing the harm that I caused my body, yet i’m doing all I can do to make our baby dreams come true 🙂
makes total sense! and you are an inspiration, keep honoring that season!
