Our life. It’s a bit of a SLOPE, yes SLOPE, not SLUMP.
SLOPE: to cause to incline or slant
— slop·er noun
But I think the questions remains..
Is it an upward slope or a downward?
I (we) want to think it’s upward. Working on our relationship(s), working towards a goal, working in those “hard yards,” working towards a dream. Together!
Is it hard? Yes! Is it exhausting, yes?! Is it frustrating (at times)? Yes! Is it worth the UPHILL BATTLE?
I want to believe so, I do believe so! But I also thinks it takes courage to DO SO!!
So I may behind in all the other areas of life (laundry, chores, emails, etc.) but I’m okay with it. What I’m focusing on is going forward now, slowly but surely.
I am working hard on being a SHERPA wife. BEING PRESENT.
I am working hard on Healthy Bites. SLOWLY getting things moving forward and I hope to post more on that soon. HOPE HOPE HOPE! And trusting that my passion and my hard work with FLOURISH.. some day..
I am working hard on being HERE, NOW, MOVING.. ONWARD.. and UPWARD. Not a slump, but a slope.
What’s your slope of life?
I hope it’s UPWARD.
Cheers,
LC
I like to think that even though it is difficult, with lots of ‘stuff’ going on, I am sloping upward, and forward. The opposite of that seems to be spiraling downward and out of control…something I often feel is close to happening. With a focus on what’s ahead, hopefully that can be avoided. 🙂
100% upward slope and yes it’s sometimes hard, tiring, and draining. But also worth it!
Always upward! Because, really, what’s the point in the alternative?
You’re always busy, always going, always doing more for yourself and your family. Truly admirable. You never take no and always have faith. Beautiful!
oh i need to learn to take no. learning..sloping. hehe
I prefer the up hill slope. If you aren’t growing as a person or a couple, then you are dying. Ups and downs come with the territory.
Love that it’s an upward slope, especially with racing/sherpa-ng and Healthy Bites!
I’d like to think my life has been on a low-grade upward slope for years now. I’m/we’re pretty blessed!
Happy Friday!
blessed indeed friend!
Absolutely love the slope (not slump) comparison. I think it’s great that you’re focusing on staying in and being in the present. I’m looking forward to more great things with these healthy bites! 🙂
thank you cori! you are such an encouragement to me (us)!! xxoo
What’s in your mind is important so just keep working on believing it!
yes, i knew you could relate and encourage Deanna. thank YOU! how are you feeling these days?
What a great post! I have a hard time enjoying the journey, but you have inspired me to step back and view life as a slope 🙂 Love this!
i am so glad Jess. Step back and enjoy! xxoo
Beautiful words, friend–and SO inspiring! Right now my slope is UP! After cruising on flat (and taking a few dips) over the past year, I’m beginning to climb the mountain. There are goals and dreams I’m pursuing, but I’m also working on enjoying the *journey*. It’s okay to slide down the slope once in awhile, as long as I get back up, and keep climbing. Thank you for the inspiration! <3
i so agree! the journey is hilly. Ride the down slopes and climb the upslopes!
You know I totally understand you xo
and i do you! xxoo
Yes, definitely upward. There are phases where it feels so steep, and then phases where it levels out a bit. And thankfully, every once in awhile there is a chance to rest and enjoy the view. 🙂
I trust your hard work will pay off, my friend, and that God will continue to surprise you!
I love what you said here. I am praying for that surprise.. yes!
Welp, I am 45, so some may say I am on the downward slope.:) Really though, I feel like you have to except the downward slopes as part of the process of getting to the upward and vise versa. Work hard, expect less, accept more, and enjoy the ride one day at a time.
AMEN! you are so wise friend. what would i do without you?
Love the positive spin you have on everything! It does feel like an uphill battle at times, but that is ok. Makes the achievements so much sweeter.
so true!! sweet victory!
Mathematically, slope is just a number. That’s it. It defines the line…the rise over the run. What’s funny is that multiplying it by a negative force can change the slope of a line. Slope is a perfect example when two negatives do make a positive. Thanks for the positive note you always put on your blog. I enjoy reading it!
thank you for always reading and supporting. xxoo
Oh yes yes yes! I SO relate to this. Sometimes I feel life is a slump, but I never thought of it in relationship to a slope, which I like a lot more! It takes A LOT of effort to get out of those downwards slopes, but you’re right if we just focus and do nothing to get out of it, obviously it will stay the same no matter what we are thinking.
We need to apply the work to get ourselves out of there, and yes, sometimes it will be hard work. Right now, my slope is heading upwards after so much time in the downward slump, I realized to get out of it I need to apply hard work. And what do you know, changes and progressions are happening!
Okay, I just blabbed too much;)
Always beautifully said!
i love your comment, so in depth, in tune! It’s a great perspective lisa! you always know what to say to encourage.
Oh my friend. My slope is most definitely upwards. Slowly but surely right?
slow and steady is key!
The math teacher in me so wants to post a dorky comment about the derivative of my life’s function being positive, and therefore confirming an increasing function . . . increasing in love, laughter and happiness. 🙂
oh i like the math teach in you! Dorks unite!
Even if there is the downward slope, there’s also an upward one to look forward to. It’s that eb and flow of life. You have the good with the bad. Live, learn, and continue upward and onward.
more momentum to get back up, yes? xxoo
p.s. You home yet? if so, welcome home!
Oh Cotter another one of your posts that speaks to me on so many levels! Not sure which slope my life is going right now, but like you we keep trucking along, hoping, working, praying that it all comes together…Love that workout! Hugs! XOXO
yes, we’re in it together!!
Sorry but all I saw were those birthday cake bites!!!!!!! YUMYUMYUM
haha, love you for that!
Beautiful perspective! The upward slopes, the hardest obstacles in life are always worth it once you get to the top and get to look down on the beautiful view. 🙂
Keep climbing forward!
oh gosh, i love that. Yes, looking down from above!
Love this post and the scripture! I would definitely be interested in trying those healthy bites!
i knew you would love that verse! xxoo
Beautifully said Lindsay! I’m always praying you and James forward and onto live the Dream God planted in your hearts. Love you girl!
We are currently on an upward slope and while it’s exciting and things are changing in a positive direction, it’s still slightly scary as to what the future holds for us.
LOVE the idea of choosing your slope, and LOVE LOVE LOVE how you focus on the upwards in all areas of life, particularly in your life with Mr. Cotter — so so important to invest in your relationship, because relationships DO require effort and work — worth-it work I call it. And working together, PRESENTLY, even better.
He is my life. Like Scott is yours. TEAM WORK< UP SLOPE! yes!
I love this, as always. I am literally, almost, sloping towards homeownership 😉 it feels all too real and consuming at the moment, but I know the chaos will be worth it. I am always working on presence, and self image and confidence but I know those things are almost always a work in progress 🙂
i totally thought of you, where you are, what the next slope is… hold on tight and enjoy the ride UP!
Love this! Totally needed to read this today.
so glad! xxoo
Positivity definitely makes the slopes fly by! 😉
Working on gazing upward, letting go and letting God, but I also need to work on the looking inward too. So much of how my life goes seems based on my inward thoughts and emotions. I can always use work there! Praying to God for help in that area.
I’d like to say it’s upward- I married my best friend, moved to a new country, and added another pup to the family, and finished my masters gdegree. On the downside, moving has caused me to leave everyone I know and love, unable to work, and now that I have my visa to work, I can’t find a job. I blame cabin fever for my sometimes-negative outlook!
The upward is the now and it is great! I love your slope friend.
Up for sure — but to be honest? My gaze has been all wrong. SO wrong.
Thanks for writing this because I needed to read it.
#selfish
PS- Just had a CC marathon and — that race weekend!!!! Oh, the trials. But I must say…all things considered he still did awesome, right?
he did, i’m always amazed by him. are you tired from you CC marathon? need a healthy bite? hehe
LOL. The CC marathons are ALWAYS energizing and uplifting and inspiring. You know I have my HB order coming but dang I just keep coming up short each month, LOL you have no idea I already have my order.
ALWAYS upward, even if it takes a long road to get there, haha!
Love you and I know your healthy bites will just really TAKE OFF, like sold all over in stores take off! I need to order some! I love you friend!
Have a wonderful second day of May!
yes yes, and thank you for always supporting my slope of life friend! xxoo
I almost feel as though things are staying pretty even around these parts. I want to believe I’m on an upward slope but something usually happens to create large bumps in the road. Like you, I’m WORKING on trying to improve myself so I get as upward of a slope as possible. I’m just waiting for the results to make me feel like what I’m doing is right and worth it.
focus on that attitude, yes, healing. results not needed! saying a prayer for you.
<3 LOVE THIS!
Yes! YES. this is great! Thank you.
on a different note, how do you make those workout fonts and boxes where you put the workout in above? I don’t even know how to ask what they are ha! But I love them and think they would make writing my workouts easier!! 🙂 Thanks!
I use picmonkey. You must try it! you’ll love it!
I needed to read this today. Usually my slope is upward – today I’m really having to work on it to keep it from tilting.
Thanks for the encouragement to do just that!
so glad it helped friend. xxoo
i get your point, and i love this concept … but isn’t a downward slope better (you know, from a runner’s perspective? 😉
you caught me. Runners perspective is still right.
The biggest struggles are the ones that bring the biggest rewards… or at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself 😆
My slope is definitely upwards. Choices to make, uncertainties to face, risks to take… but you’ve got to follow your dreams and do what you love, right?
yes you do. it’s so worth it! every hike up!
I like this!! I am directing my slope upward, it has been stagnant the past few months and all I want to see is new and better changes for me in my job area so I am willing that slope up!
i feel ya, i have been there too. But then we get that push up and we climb high!!
This is 100% what I needed to see today. Cheers to the up-ward slopes!!!
so close!!! UPWARD it is friend!
upward! life is not easy by any means, but itz definitely all about your outlook and i think you’ve nailed this one! try to be the best version of yourself possible!
best version, yes, i like that!
