Do you ever catch yourself saying you’ll never follow certain patterns of a sibling/spouse/parent, and then one day realize you just did.
That was me yesterday when this happened.
Yep, I’m becoming my mother. I used to think she was crazy for talking to herself, but now I do it. haha. I know she would be so proud!i
Speaking of patterns. I noticed a pattern, food pattern, with this weeks WIAW. I wonder if you see what I see……
Thanks Jen for makin’ my Wednesdays so entertaining!
Best Granola on earth and Gluten Free- LOVE GROWN
Most Random Concoction ever-
Steamed Tilapia, kelp noodles in coconut oil/aminos, avocado, brussel sprouts, oh and let’s throw in a random corn tortilla.
Slaw and Salsa – perfecto duo
Getting my NUTTZO fix
Homemade GF pizza with zucchini, sausage, and almond cheese.
Nori Wraps (filled with sunflower seeds and spices)- Please tell me you’ve had these?! If not, you’re missing out.
Alright, I actually noticed 2 patterns, but one is more obvious. So besides being RANDOM food, what do you see?
Are you inheriting certain patterns (aka habits) from family members?
Cheers,
LC
LOVE your hair!! Did you get it cut? Also…I do find myself acting more and more like my mom as I get older. I swore it would never happen…. hahaha
i did get it cut. So much easier to style now, but now I kinda look like my mom. haha, we all are turning into our moms, eh?
i haven’t had nori wrappers, shame on me. 🙂
Love these posts because it gives me lots of ideas
well, you got a great opportunity this weekend to go find them! i bet you’ll loooove them!
I finally tried that chia seed kombucha in California and it tasted really good. At first I LOVED IT but then the texture started to get to me and I couldn’t drink it anymore. I don’t think I could finish 1/3 of it, boo!! That pizza looks amazing!
haha, i agree. i usually share it with the hubs. but i loved the stats!
Hm, I see some red-and-green pattern … And a lot of yummy and balanced food! 😀 How did you do the almond cheese? Did you make that yourself?
yep, you nailed it. red and greens. I think i have christmas on the brain.
I have been wanting to try one of those Perfect Foods bars for soo long but I never can find them. So I’m jealous. 🙂 Your homemade pizza looks SO good. Zucchini on a pizza, that’s genius!
I love nori so much! I haven’t had any in a while, I’d better restock soon. Your meals look delicious as always Lindsey!
I think you need to stock up ASAP! its such a good quick snack too. Hows the training going??
My nan used to say that talking to yourself is “addressing the most intelligent person present” – I like to think that’s a good definition… 🙂
I love the look of the GF pizza, and the different wraps… we definitely need more GF wraps in this country!
I find myself talking to the horses when they misbehave in exactly the tone of voice my mum used on us when we were little and being naughty…!
Well I think your nan is brilliant! love that concept. And if were me, I’d talk to horses too. I think they have the best listening ears.
I have NEVER heard or seen those wraps before!
I notice a Mexican pattern..? I could be totally off. I know a VERY obvious pattern is GF- lol! 😀
I LOVE love grown granola- it is my favorite, but they do not have it in my local grocery stores yet..but I know it HAS to be coming soon!
they don’t have it?! really? bugger. I know Kroger has it and some WF’s. Orlando needs some LOVE!
Becoming your mother already! Uh oh, better not tell the hubs! haha
oh he is the one that pointed it out, sad i know.
Everything in GF and delicious? =)
I not only talk to myself and laugh, I also tell myself how smart I am sometimes too… =)
as you should! daily affirmations are a must! hehe.
Just last week at the grocery store I discovered a pear apple hybrid and words I have heard my Mom say a million times came out of my mouth “oh how neat, I guess we HAVE to try one don’t we” 🙂 I immediately said to Brad, wow I am a lot like my Mom and he just smiled. It was scary but I know she would love it!
LOL!!!! i love that MEG. TOOO CUUUTTEEE! Your mom must be joyful in the kitchen, cause thats how you seem. Love it.
your hair looks AWESOME!
so funny about the mother comment because there are some days when I say out out “oh my gosh, I’m turning into my mother”! So funny.
All of that food looks delicious!!
maybe that a sign of a good relationship! we know our moms so well. THe good and the bad! haha.
Omg I want that pizza now! Good GF pizza is few and far between, but yours looks incredible! As do all of your eats 🙂
i feel like i can always redeem myself in the kitchen with a good GF pizza, right? And gotta burn the edges a bit. perrrrrfect!
I loovee your hair!! You are SO cute!! I most def am becoming more like my mom as I get older. She would lovee that I am saying this because I swear her quote of the century while I grew up was, “you will be doing this too someday!” Ohh mother, how wise you are.
i think that was my mom’s quote too! they are tricky like that, or maybe they are just wise. Lets hope we inherit that too!
Your food always looks so pretty! How long have you been gf?
i had to go GF in 2009. Its been a blessing in disguise, thats for sure!
😉
I keep seeing that Love Grown Granola- I want to try it so bad.
That first picture/quote is freaking awesome! 🙂 I always laugh to myself on the computer too. If only other people thought I was as funny as I think I am. JK. 🙂
I can’t figure out a pattern- probably because it’s WAY too late.
But…is that broccoli slaw with salsa? I’m addicted to broccoli slaw, but haven’t tried it with just salsa before. Do tell.
i think we are funny, people just need to GET us. RIght? hehe. Are you laughing now too?
I hope not- My mom and her sisters and mom always stop mid sentence… You don’t know whether their done or just pausing! I give my mom a really hard time whenever she does it lol
haha, well you are probably needed for their sanity then. You can remind them not to pause!
Pizza = love 🙂
Did you make the GF crust? Recipe?
well, no i bought it. I’m a slacker when it come to pizza crust. But this one is made from rice and sorghum. Its PERFECT!!
I do everything in my power to NEVER do anything like my mother! I may work too hard at it sometimes too. Your eats look delicious to me. Looks like you got some incredible comfort from those eats too!
haha, i was working way to hard as well and i caved. bugger. and yes, comfort has been KEY these days. <3
Must. Find. Those. Nori wraps.
Dude.
And that Kombucha flavor? What? We finally got grape down here. I am holding out for a mocktail date with my friend this weekend.
It’s funny how the older I get I begin to cringe less at the I am my mother moments, right?
i am trying to lure you to austin with kombucha flavors. I will also feed you nori wraps. How’s that for a deal? oh and WINE!
Red & green – Christmas colors! 🙂 I had my 1st realization this morning that the holidays really are rapidly approaching. It was chiillllly this morning, and I had a delicious chai tea and I felt quite festive for the upcoming holidays. I definitely do things that remind me of my mom…any my dad, too!
yes!! cool and crisp. I had chicken chili and it just felt so cozy. Green and red is the pattern. But I knew you’d get that. Is northpark looking festive yet?
The first time I said to my kids “when I was your age” I knew I had turned into my mom! Or “you can’t fool me, I was your age once”! But it is such an honor to be my mother so I now embrace it.
Your food is super colorful (which equals super healthy)!
oh I have a feeling I will be saying that when I am a mom. Please remind me to at least rephrase it. haha.
Your eats have a very red & green theme! 😀
YUM! the nori wraps sounds good! would love to try them if I ever find some!!!
yes, christmas theme! woo! Nori is a favorite of mine. Try the asian stores or WF. I am sure you will LOOOOVE them
Ha your WIAW are definitely the most entertaining and colorful that I’ve seen yet 😉
I’m not much of a talk-to-myself person, but I do talk to *other* drivers while I’m in the car..who obviously cannot hear me…heh heh. Only on occasion; only when city driving (gah!).
of course, you live in one of the most high traffic cities around, you must car talk! haha.
p.s.
I know my WIAW is good when you are surprised. Love it!
guilty as charged for talking to myself. SOMEONE has to listen to all the thoughts going on in my head, ha!
How is that cherry kombucha? I have not spotted that flavor before.
I hear ya. We need someone to listen. WHo better than ourselves. haha.
The cherry chia is good! kinda sour. You’d like it!
I have never had those nori wraps, but I love seaweed! Where you you buy those?
Oh, and I talk to myself all the time. And sometimes I am the only one who laughs at my jokes. Whatevs.
you must try nori wraps. I got them at the local health store. They have local brands here, but you can totally make your own with nori paper.
I’m not at the point of inheriting patterns from my parents… yet ;p
oh just wait, they will come. Most of mine came after I was married, haha.
Oh…I DEFINITELY talk to myself. 🙂
My mom always used to say “Oh for the love of Henry!” To which we would always shriek, “MOM—who the heck is Henry?!”
Every once in a great while I find myself uttering that phrase and it makes me want to kick myself in my face. Hah!
LOL! now i will be saying that! my mom says “holy toledo!” and I would say, where’s that? Then I went to Toledo and it totally made sense!
I am inheriting my mother’s mannerisms and her talent (or lack there of) of singing. I find myself humming to songs in my head which used to drive me crazy!!!! I’ve been wanting to try Love Grown Granola. So many good reviews 🙂
yes, mannerisms. I do that same! eek! i even clean like she does. Who am I? where do you live? You need to get this Love grown asap! i can send you a coupon!
I’d love a coupon! I live in PA, not sure if they sell it around here, I’ll have to take a closer look.
do you have your own personal mini fridge for your Kombucha?! I’m jealous.
i do make my own. I have tons of scobies too. Wish I should ship some over! You should brew!
Oh my gosh, I am more and more like my mother every day. When listening to music in the car (my mom has her master’s and i think doctorate in music) we both tap on the steering wheel with the tempo of the music. Oh and for sure think out loud and dance in the kitchen at random times. I just go along with it because my mom is pretty great!
haha, thats awesome meg! dance all you want in that kichen. Its JOYFUL!
I talk like my mom sometimes… never thought I would! I am seeing a lot of red and green… getting excited for xmas already?! Ha 🙂
oh i do too! haha, never thought i would either. But I don’t think we can escape it now. Lets embrace the mom traits! oh and yes, its a christmas pattern! haha.
what is Tilapia? and kelp noodles… they sound great, I’ve never heard of/seen them. salsa+ slaw, total winning combo. almond cheese?!? good? never seen that either. I get so jealous of all the fun products you guys have over there. It will be a big change heading to NZ – organics/health food products are SO expensive over there, I couldn’t believe it. I’ll have to give you a list of good eating places to check out when you go 🙂
i can’t wait to get back to NZ food. Did you ever go to Burger Fuel? Well, for you it would be vegetarian fuel, but they have amazing organic food! Maybe I can bring some US staple over to NZ and ship it to you. THoughts??
I have never had nori wraps, do they hold up well if you were to use them like you would a normal tortilla? I’ll be on the lookout. I haven’t noticed myself becoming my mother just yet… but I’m not saying it will never happen!
yes, we usually get nori paper and stuff eggs and salsa in them too! I’ve even done banana and tahini. I know, weird. But good!
LOL I do this. Ahhh. I normally don’t say it out loud but to make up for that, I’ll start giggling at whatever brilliantly hilarious thought I had.
oh i do that too. See, I am even crazier!
I have those exact two bags of Love left from my Ohio haul! I’m so addicted that I’m rationing it out so it will last longer. 🙂 Kelp noodles….I tried those this summer for the first time and love love love them! Broccoli slaw and kelp noodles with grape tomatoes and an almond butter and braggs sauce 🙂 I’m going to put avocado in there next time too!
Every WIAW makes me want to fly to austin and eat all day long with you!
i will send you some before I leave for NZ. you can keep it company for me while I am gone, k?
Did you do the red and green theme on purpose? Its not christmas yet!!
I am like target, i decorate 2 months early because I’m spastic!
Yay for Love Grown granola!! I spot a lot of red and green in your food :). I find myself doing things my mom does, and that I never thought I would do, all the time! It can be annoying, but oh well!
oh you are good. Green and red for sure! And i’m sure your mom’s traits aren’t annoying when you do it, right? hehe.
Mmm…all your eats look wonderful! I spy a lot of tomato? There’s SO MUCH RED!!! It’s very bright and cheery and beautiful. <3
And a lot of green VEGGIES! 😀 Which in my book is a very very good thing…love me some veggie action 😉 You look cute in the top photo – perplexed, lol! 😛
Oh, Kombucha, I tried it when I was in the USA – so tasty! And would love to try those Perfect Food bars…they sounds yummy! Big smiles to you, my friend! <3 xyx
yea for red and green! christmas colors make for a good pattern, right? Oh i wish I could send you more kombucha. Better yet, wish I could bring you here!
Lol! So sweet! You’ve made my day, missy, thank you! <3 I say hear hear to the latter – that would be awesome! 😀 xyx
OMG I do stuff like that all the time. I’ll say something to the dogs even and my first though, “Oh crap, that sounded exactly like my mother!” And there is nothing wrong with talking to yourself. It’s the only way I get through long runs LOL
LOL! woo, not alone here. Love that! i talk to myself during long runs too. Quite entertaining, if only we had a recorder. haha.
yes it is very scary when you realize you have become your mom 🙂 i look down at my arms or say something and i think, oh jeez it is my mom! love your pizza with the almond cheese!
haha, that is true. although I don’t have my moms bust. Kinda wish i did!
Ahhhh!!!! The salsa action, the random concoctions, and the pizza in this post have made my tastebuds wild. I’m really wanting some salsa now!! 😀
Happy WIAW my friend!
salsa never goes out of season here. Thank goodness! What would we do without our texmex fix?!
that picture makes me laugh so much LC – it’s almost like “do i need to poop or not?!” hahah!!!
there are definitely a lot of things i want to do on my own (just because my mom taught me to load a dishwasher one way is not a better way than what your boyfriend’s mom taught him). so while i find myself starting to do things the way my mom has done them, i step back and try to do things the way i want to too! 🙂
oh good point, so you are a “special” version of your mother. The upgraded kind? haha. Oh and that picture, no need to wonder about the poop, maybe more gas.
Thanks for the instant smile while reading this! Lately I have also been throwing random stuff together and it makes me laugh, because I seriously wonder about those meals. They taste good to me, but not sure who else would think that! HA! Seems like your random cravings are Asian related…Hmmm…Happy Hump Day!
oh no, your random dishes are right up my alley! girl we go with what we crave, right?!
Nori wraps…what are those? sound familiar for some reason? Is that a Japanese thing? (i know, I am being lazy ,could look it up!) I love your eats and the variety. I REALLY need to expand my horizons 🙂
its a japanese thing. Love them! we have odd tastes in the cotter house, i know. We buy random foods, but at least it keeps us entertained! haha
Ok, first I thought you said “I’m becoming a mother” — I read that waaay to fast.
Your pizza put’s my little fancy custom shop one I had last night to shame.
I see red:)
haha, i am thinking a lot of people read that too fast. I just hope my mother doesn’t read it that way. LOL!
That’s what I read at first too!!
My eyes went straight for that kombucha — I haven’t been able to find the chia flavored kinds yet, and am so looking forward to whenever they make their way up to Maine…
That pizza literally made my belly grumble…and I just had lunch an hour ago! It looks delicious….and you can’t go wrong with a little love grown granola, too!
I find that I make this “ey!” noise to my cats when they’re being naughty that my mom would make to animals in our yard when she wanted them to leave…the first time I did it I was like “woah…did I just make that noise!?” but I still do it…strange!
its funny when we catch ourselves, isn’t it? I kinda smirk and say, oh well! The chia kombucha is at Whole Foods and Natural Grocer here. I hope you find it! its good to try out. Totally different though.
hmmmm….GF is an obvious pattern for you…
Red and orange show up a lot today too!
i was thinking red and ……. ? starts with a G
i am so my mothers daughter. i now do alot of things that used to drive me crazy, but I’ve come to realize that if I’m half the woman she is-quirks and all-then I will be very lucky because she’s such an amazing woman of God
i spy the pattern of GF…wait…you always eat that way 😉 i dont know, what patterns do you see?
I bet you are! Thank goodness for those women in our lives too. Godly, beautiful, and bold! My eats are always GF, that is true. So there is another pattern. maybe one with color???
lol..I read this post way too fast and thought you said, “I’m becoming A mother.” Got a little excited. Becoming your mother is still exciting, but not as much. 😉
if I were pregnant, we’d be moving to Asheville and shackin up with you guys. haha. On second thought, that could be quite fun!
I TALK TO MYSELF TOO!!! So glad I’m not the only one who picked that up from a parent! Except mine came from my dad. He says it’s a sign of genius. I obviously agree!
Happy Wednesday, friend!!
my dad is super corny, I get that from him. He laughs at his own jokes first. And I would agree with you dad, sign of genius!
Everything looks delicious!!!
Hope you’re doing well! 😀
Haha that first part was hilarious! YES I totally notice that I’m turning into my mother. I’m never sure whether to like this or not 🙂 As always, the food looks delicious!!!
i say we embrace it! our mothers raised us, and we turned out pretty cool, eh?
haha.
p.s.
THE COUNTDOWN HAS COME! you ready for AZ?
I’m having a little bit of a meltdown but at least it’s coming on a rest week. 1 more big week next week – which I WILL be fueled and rested for – and then taper! I’m ready to get it on!
I was thinking ‘ethnic’ foods. Or seemingly ethnic…pizza, nori wraps, salsa…
oh thats good, i didn’t even think of that. Ethnic is definitely in there, but there is something else. hmm….
I want to try slaw and salsa together!!!! love it! =) and love you!
I am totally turning into my mother. the talking to myself, screaming at other cars that can’t hear me b/c they’re doing idiotic things… oh yeah and just going nusto! thanks mom for passing on the crazy gene to me! haha
happy WIAW almond joy!
oh yes, the screaming at the cars. Thats a given. Crazy genes are strong these days, eh?
hehe, love you friend.
😛
I see a lot of red in those pictures. Is that a pattern???
I AM my mother. And I kind of love it. Actually, I’m a more mellow version of my mother. But we’re both ridiculous so it works.
Love you friend!!!
yes, thats one color. I spy another. hmmm….
Glad you are mothers daughter, she created a pretty cool one if I say so myself.
Happy Day!
I talk to myself a lot so I have been crazy for a long time, lol!
Love lovegrown granola it is the BEST!
Hope all is well love! xoxo <3
well us crazys gotsa stick together. haha. XXOO
