I think I have a new name for Thursdays. Quick Fix Thursday. Not sure how all my time was filled between 5am and 6pm, but it was definitely back to back. I am surprised I am even posting. How do the 2x a day bloggers do it? Heck, I am proud that I am posting 2 days in a row! The Cotter’s are not the best at time management, can’t you tell? haha.
Back to quick fix Thursday. Between doctors appointments and other work, I got in 3 quick fixes (not to be misinterpreted for a “quickie”).
-
I made a quick fix version of Sarena’s gluten free biscuits
-
I baked a quick batch of GF cookie muffins to thank a co-worker
-
I got in a quick 30 minute Thursday workout.
The recipes will have to come later, that I promise. But for now I’ll leave you with the Thirty Minute Thursday.
A Pyramid of Time Circuit
-
Warm up 5 minutes (run, bike, elliptical, etc.)
-
Side lunge (alternating) with upper body twist – use weights on shoulders
-
Froggy plank jump to burpee with pushup
-
Single leg squat with bicep curl (do each leg)
-
dive-bomber pushups
-
high knees
-
wall squat with front raise
-
Do each exercise for 30 seconds. Once you finish the first round, repeat for 45 seconds each, then 60 seconds, then 75 seconds.
-
Cool down 5 minutes easy cardio.
You may only get through the 60 second round. It’s totally up to you. If you want more, add in 2 minutes of bike, stairmill, etc. after each round.
I was quite intrigued by this workout. Can’t you tell by my face?
What was your “quick-fix” today?
Cheers,
LC
The biscuit and cookies look delicious. Looking forward to the recipe!
I posted the recipe monday for the cookies. Super easy. You gotta try them! 🙂
Ah, I lack time for baking! 🙁
Looks like some yummy stuff 🙂
I don’t know how people post everyday…I barely make it at once a week sometimes!
The workout looks like fun!
I can barely post 2 X a week. I think that if I didn’t have such an addiction to reading and commenting on other blogs I could probably get more done on my own but alas….I am addicted to reading other blogs!
same here. Maybe we should do a gogle reader detox. haha, nah! that would not be any fun!
you can’t even tease me with these gluten free cookie muffins!!! i’m dying over here 😛 lol
xoxo <3
its probably the most simple recipe you will ever make too! its the way you bake them that make them more “moist.” yes, i hate that word but best way to describe it.
I don’t know how they do it either, but I realized sometimes when they do that, there is not a lot of information being shared either. Just sayin’. Your eats sounds delicious! I hope you have a relaxing weekend!
yes I realize that too. So lets agree that QUALITY over QUANTITY rules, right?
Ooh, the biscuits look great! And those muffins are kind of heart-shaped 🙂
I’ve just had a quick fix Friday dinner, if that counts – veggie burger made weeks ago and frozen, defrosted with steamed veg = perfect!
oh gotta love the frozen foods that save the day! i bet it tasted just as good as the first time you made it. Happy Friday friend!
So proud of you for posting two days in a row, I also have no clue how they do it! I can barely do twice a week lol 🙂 Thursday’s are always crazzzzy! Pretty sure that workout deserves that face! Great quick fix you’ve got for yourself there though! Mine yesterday was definitly oatmeal/cinnamon whey/pb/dark chocolate….
well at least when you post, its good stuff! i love it Sarah!
Nice oatmeal, like the chocolate/cinnamon touch.
I do well to post once a week!! 🙂
Those cookies and muffins look amazing…I’m starving!
i’ll send you some cookies, you deserve them. No matter how many times you post.
😉
yes. I live to make you jealous. b/c i’m envious of your mad baking skills and overall awesomeness =) How bout you come visit and i’ll give/make you whatever you want for your company =) hehe! love you almond joy!!!!
you organize and color my life, and I”ll cook and give you kombucha. Now thats a deal!!
Shoot…I guess I better get on my workout! I have a doctor’s appt in an hour and haven’t even gotten out of my comfy pants yet for the day! EEKKK!!
thanks for the motivation….even 30 mins will make me feel better doing something!
xxoo
yes, do this workout. THen doctors, then go for a walk/hike later. You’ll love it!
Those cookie muffins look heavenly! How dear you not post the recipe too! I am attempting GF Chocolate PB Rice Crispy Treats tonight. Fingers crossed! And I totally thing the word “quicky” invokes a smile on anyone……even a giggle.
haha, quicky it is! make us giggle. Let me know how the rice crispy treats go. I love those things!
Haha you are so funny!! Those cookies and muffins look GOOD!
What exactly is “froggy plank jump to burpee with pushup”? I’m assuming once in plank form jump and land with feet in frog pose? lol This sounds like a really great workout!!
you nailed it! that is froggy/burpee combo. I know you’ll like this one.
mm I can’t wait for the cookie muffin recipe! Also, that workout sounds intense and intriguing!! Might have to add to my gym sessions!
add in for sure. You’ll like the variety. That i promise Danielle!
This workout is perfect for mornings like this one, when I sleep through my alarm and don’t have time to make it to the gym! Thank you! Today is definitely “quick fix Friday…I made “quick fix” eggs by microwaving them instead of cooking them in a pan (not nearly as yummy, but it got the job done), and packed a “quick fix” lunch by grapping a bag of spinach from the fridge, a package of tuna, a bottle of dressing and an apple. Hopefully I can find a plate in the office to put it on for lunch!
Happy Friday! Can’t wait for those recipes! Both look delicious!
yes, perfect hit snooze too many times workout. hehe. I love the eggs in the microwave, as long as they don’t explode!
I am with you on that! I am amazed I just posted two days in a row as well…must be something in the universe!
you posted again too? HIGH FIVE! We deserve a week off now, right? haha.
I honestly don’t know how people post 2-3 times per day… I struggle with one and now I am having difficulties with a few days in a row!
I always enjoy your workouts, fast is the way to go, and you obviously get a great burn during it!
maybe we should do a Q&A session about how to post more thank 1x a day, haha. Jk.
This workout… oh ya this one BURNS!
My quick fix today was a quick fix workout – 30 minutes of upper and lower body lifting 🙂 Sometimes it’s so good to squeeze in a short and effective serssion – really satisfying! Love your quick-fix workouts – they give me so many ideas! Thank you! <3 xyx
yes, short but effective. Sometmes those are better than the longer ones, ya know?
😉
i didnt have any milk, so i put honey nut cheerios in a bowl with ice cream 😉 quick fix thursday!
haha, i love that kim. And it melts so nicely with cheerios! Have fun in MAINE!
p.s.
can i be invited to read you blog? plleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasssssseee!
Can I get you up to DC to start making me do these workouts?! I miss strength training oh-so-much, and without the Ryders’ classes (ahem, the coach who yelled at us *during* said classes), I have no motivation to do it on my own. Gah!
Quickie/quick-fix/whatever gets you through a busy thursday – enjoy it 😉
fly me out and I am yours for sure. I would love it. And then I can see some real FALL weather too!
My quick fix was bringing my own dressing to Panera so I would not have to use their yuck dressing! Quick fix!
Happy Weekend! I hope all is well!
xoxo
thats definitely a quick fix diva style. Love it Katie! Love you!
My quick fix: when I reeeeeaaaally wanted hot cocoa, but didn’t have any milk, I heated water and cocoa powder in the saucepan. Sounds bad, but it really did taste good! Hit the spot 😀
thats genius alex! its saucy and smooth! i love the way you think woman.
I got to the hotel in Chicago and at first was going to bail on my workout… then decided I’d do 20 minutes… and 1:15 later I was drenched! Great quick fix+ lol
Have an amazing weekend Lindsay!
haha, i do that! i say 10 minutes and it ends up being 45ming. Mind over matter, right?!
Quick fix = multi tasking and getting in a yoga session while child watches an annoying nursery rhyme DVD. He then decides it’s more fun to climb on Mum. Not sure if it was quick fix, as don’t know how effective a workout it ended up being. Very amusing though. mmmm gluten free goodies look very very tempting.
so i am thinking you got in strength trainng while doing yoga then?! haha, thats a great quick fix. Good mum you are!
i had a quick j fix today. i’m super busy with school, work, and staying with my g’parents while my parents are out of town so i haven’t been able to see him very much. so tonight, he came to my place and cooked me dinner! (i did have to rush out right after to go watch my g’parents but it was nice to see him for a little bit!)
its good to be taken care when you are busy taking care of others and yourself! a little time to put your feet up an relax with good food and company! so happy for you!
I have a hard enough time thinking of what to blog about once a month. Ha. But my life, seriously, is lame like that. I mean, who wants to hear about the boringness of waitressing, constantly being injured, and having no social life? Not me!
My quick fix today… honestly didn’t really have one, but I had a good quick fix dinner last night, though it was kind of weird. Spinach, pine nuts, mushrooms, feta cheese and tilapia and sauteed in coconut oil. It was surprisingly good!
thats not weird, that sounds wonderful! and you are never lame shannon! we know you and therefore care about every little detail of life!
<3
Everything about my life lately is a quick fix. Today’s lunch was thrown together in about 2 minutes this morning and was, dare I say it delicious.
Those cookie muffins. I kind of hate you for posting the picture and no recipe. GIMME. 🙂
has there been anything that you’ve thrown together that is not delicious? i think not!
Quickie! Hah – you’re fun. 🙂
My day was crazy busy also – hence no post today from this girl. Kudos to you for sneaking one in!
my google reader is funny. I got 2 posts from you today, haha. I think it can’t keep up. But busy is good when are enjoying life, which you are friend!
my quick-fix today was getting in a lunch with dear friends. okay…it wasn’t “quick” but it was definitely a positive “fix” to my busy day!
sometimes we just need that break to socialize and be ourselves, right?! perfect quick fix!
OK…what’s the “■Froggy plank jump to burpee with pushup” thingy? 🙂
jump back into tall plank with pushup then back into this position http://www.bodyrock.tv/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Squat.jpg. Then up into burpee jump, then repeat. Crazy I know. Let me know if this makes sense.
Thursday’s are my most dreaded day, as you know! I’m just glad it’s now over and I’m getting to eat my nightly ice cream!
hope that ice cream put you in a nice deep slumber friend. Happy Friday!
I was only able to run half a mile at the gym and do some pushups because I was so late! Haha quickies 😉 too funny. But that was my quick-fix of the day, hey anything counts right!
P.S. the addition of peanut flour to the noodles is a PERFECT idea. I wrote it down and it’s a go for the next time around.
thats better than nothing for sure! quick and to the point. Oh an keep me posted on how the PB flour turns out!
OMG that pic of you is freaking adorable. And I have no idea how many have that much content to write more than one post a day either 😉 I love them for it, but dude. Not me.
i think they were born writers. it takes me forever to post, let alone organize my thoughts. Love them for it too though!
Well even though you say you aren’t the best at time management, you had quite the productive day!! 🙂
and boy is it tiring! i need a day of from productivity now. haha.
I’m with you–I can’t imagine posting 2-3 times a day. Insanity!
I love your face in that picture. I can’t tell if you liked the workout or not.. 😉
it was a look of ….i think i might be sore tomorrow.
😉
Oh girl, I am with you – I am proud of myself when I post two days in a row. Last week I got all of one post up, haha! I am trying to be better this week! 🙂
you should be proud! thats tough! and you have great quality.
hehe I totally giggled at the “quickie” comment. I’m such a five year old, I swear. 😉 I have to say – for someone as busy as you, to have time to bake a treat to thank a co-worker? Just goes to show what a fabulous and wonderful person you are! oh how I miss you!!
haha, well I am a such a 5 year old too! I wish I could come out to boston and visit you before I leave. And bring heather! I miss you too!
I love time management! <—–true nerd statement
I had a quick fix bike ride this morning, it's so nice being at my parents' house and biking along the golf course. It makes me feel swanky for a minute.
oh ya, swanky and fun loving! enjoy that bike ride and breeze through your hair friend.
To echo the above I don’t know how people post twice a day. One no time and two what do you talk about : ). Anywho I always look forward to your posts so I’m glad it was 2 days in a row! I always love trying your workouts so thank you!
Hugs <3
oh I would be so boring if I posted 2x a day. I just can’t think that fast, haha! Love you friend. So glad you can relate.
<3
let me know if you try this workout!
Girl I have NO idea how people have time to post more than once either. I do really good to post once LOL. I saw those biscuits. MUST make those for my sis.
you amaze me with once a day! so efficient too! Make these for your sis and use it for chicken and dumblings. SO GOOD!
Dude I have NO CLUE how 2x a day posters do it either, it must be a divine gift haha
Lovin the workout and lookin forward to the recipe! 🙂
i think it is a gift! one I don’t have….yet!
