So today I subbed a few classes. I think every instructor at our gym is out of town right now, which leaves just me. That’s okay, I owe them big time for the 8 months I was absent. But the difference between the way I teach now verses 8 months ago is huge! I don’t over exert myself and workout with every class, instead I focus on instructing and motivating. And you know what? I enjoy it even more. Well, except my voice is a little tired.
Silent Thumbs up!
Here’s a little Thirty Minute Thursday Routine that I used in one of my classes today. It’s hard. I did half of it while teaching. The class did the full set plus stretching in an hour. They did not like me while doing it, but oh did they LOVE me when it was over. haha! I incorporated a few CrossFit moves (because CF is awesome!) and I also used a few moves from this past weeks Tuesday Trainer (Reaction Exercises). Let me know whatcha think if you do try it. And feel free to complete 2-3 rounds if you are limited on time. Trust me, it’s still a good 30 minute workout.
Complete for Time.
And just because it’s Thursday and I am totally random, look what I found at Whole Foods the other day.
That would be a mini pineapple! Too bad they were $4.00 a pop. Magic pineapple perhaps?
Tried any CrossFit moves yet?
This might have been the fastest I have ever typed up a post. Just sayin.
Cheers,
LC
p.s.
I have 2 giveaways coming up. Please remind me do them. Doh!
I’ve actually been doing a lot of Crossfit workouts with boot camps and clients, that don’t involve weights. It’s fun, challenging, and sometimes I even join in. But like you, I pick and choose my days depending on how tired I am. It’s important I’m there 100% for my peeps! xoxo
i know, i am loving the simplicity! wish i could come join you.
For some reason, I am only now getting this post! Anyway, you know I love this workout already don’t you?! Yes, and yes! CrossFit is its varied forms is such a fabulous way to get and stay fit!! I like that you are caring for you and your health while empowering others!
oh you inspire me with the WOD! love it!! Thank you for such motivation.
Oh Lindsay – I have missed your posts – for some reason you were no longer in my reader! My bad – I’m catching up now. LOVE this workout and love your tips – when I’m teaching a few sessions a day I find I cannot do them all completely either and I agree – you really have other roles to fulfil! So cool. Thanks for the workout too – someone’s going to be hating me tomorrow!
i have missed you! and as always, i love hearing about your PROGRESS in life. We are all here to support each other!
$4 a mini pineapple? Um, no thanks. And – please come teach a class in SA!! I’d love to have you kick my tail!
missed you too! how was dallas? Let’s catch up soon!
Hi Lindsay,
that is a great work out routine and I think it gives great results. I do hope that your classes really appreciate the effort you put in.
Love pineapple and it is really great for losing weight.
single serving pineapple FTW! I’ve bought baby eggplants at whole foods before, definitely fun if I’m just cooking for myself. This workout looks intense! There’s no Crossfit place near me but I really really want to try it – probably when I get out to CO Springs. I’ll try this in the meantime to get ready for that haha!
yes, do it! i think you will like it. You can always bring CF to your home! Keep me posted Kate!
That workout looks great! I’m dying to try crossfit. Hopefully one day, right? And $4 for a mini-pineapple??
you will, soon. And i have a feeling you’ll be hooked!
dudeeeeeee that workout looks insane! i did one not really like that but a little similar today – it involved jump squats, burpees, pushups, walking lunges & fast fast sprints! killer & i loved it. now i hope you get to rest soon! xo
oh yes, you will LOVE this workout then. Let me know if you try it. and uh, i want to try yours!!!
must be a magic mini pineapple!
i think so. 😉
I seriously don’t know how some instructors do it – teaching (and DOING) hard core classes back to back- and STILL having the energy to yell, jump around, smile + motivate!!!! Arrrrrrgh!
I think it’s awesome you’re taking a little step back from participating in your classes – I bet your students would benefit a lot more for having you there to motivate/correct/instruct rather than just watch you.
Ha, mini pineapple. Did you try those tiny kiwis in NZ? The ones that are the size of a grape? They make me laugh!
and it’s so much more rewarding, ya know? How’s viper? How are you!!?
Yeah we are REALLY good…. only a month till we get married eeeeeeeep!
Love that silent thumbs up!! When I first started teaching spin I was exhausted because of the added exercise and I have learned no to kill myself haha! Now I don’t even break a sweat 🙂
Thank you for the comment about the bacterial infection…. I’m probably going to email you soon!
Oh good, and i bet you are trying to ease back since your health problems. But at least you can still motivate!
This workout will be pinned for later! Love it!
I have gotten better about picking and choosing my workouts. I will do a burpee or two and walk around and check on everyone, repeat, repeat, repeat!
I often say to my classes (when they question me not doing the workout with them – if I am not), I am getting paid to teach you, not paying for my workout. That is why I can just choose to motivate (YELL) at you. 🙂
That’s such a good saying! I love that, and i often try to remind myself and my class that. Love the YELL part too Andrea. haha.
Hey girl! Email me ur address! I will have the DVDs next week for you! Can’t wait to hear what you think once you try them!
loving that workout! might have to do that this weekend!
oh do it! and let me know whatcha think!
mmmmm pineapple – but sheesh so expensive! i am a former crossfitter – geez, back in 2006. wasnt for me. i sadly find that i cant do many strength workouts during triathlon training because i am too sore to have a quality cardio workout. so alas, put the kettelbell and TRX classes on hold. but i do miss them!
ps cant wait for healthy bites!!!!
i agree. I wouldn’t do these kind of workouts if you are trianing for endurance. Your coach is smart! hehe, well… most of the time. 😉
Making more of your bites this weekend. No WHEY! get it?
p.s.
can’t access your blog with my new gmail account. 🙁
i havent posted for a few months now and just decided to shut it down – so no one has access, but you arent missing anything bc i am not posting 🙂
Magic pineapple indeed friend LOL at $4 a pop HAHA!! Wonder if it has special pineapple powers??!! Hmmm LOL We saw some mini pineapples at Dole Plantation in Hawaii… so cute :-). That workout looks tough. I’ll have to give it a GO for sure 😀
i think you’ll like it Kanoelani! do it this weekend and let me know how how it goes.
Love that workout! When I get back to my intense workouts, I’ll have to try that out. I’m giving my body a bit of a break:) I’m glad you are back to teaching and not pushing it like you used to! Got to have that happy medium!
i love that you are switching focus right now. less intense is the way to go. This workout will be here and ready for you later on.
Cheers!
I am starting Cross Fit on Monday and I am super excited and scared at the same time!
Maybe Spongebob lives in those pineapples?
I love thrusters! I was doing them with a gym member at my gym today and remember how TOUGH they are. Oy.
I’ve done THREE Crossfit workouts this week!! And I’m loving them – we don’t have a box nearby so I’ve made them work for my gym.
You are bad ass! I love you more for this. Thrifty and fit!
I’m glad you are taking care of you, and still kicking all your clients/fitness peeps bums! 🙂 It is so hard to do what you are doing while teaching- I was never able to instruct and motivate w/o going all out with the class, so I eventually gave up teaching fitness! So proud of you for knowing and being able to do this— maybe one day you can teach me to do this, and I’ll be able to go back to teaching fitness! 🙂
I think you need to come to Austin and teach with me.
I haven’t done crossfit – my coach actually recommend that I don’t, but I’m totally envious of the peps strong enough to do them! I’m lucky to do five push-ups!
If you are training for race, it’s best to ease up on these workouts. Coach knows. But I know you are strong!.you could do it… Post run training maybe??
LOVE that workout!!
A Lindsay workout!! Hehe
i pinned this workout for my saturday at home kettlebell lovin’ 🙂 thanks a zillion! hope you’re having a great day and that you treated yourself like royalty (with that pineapple!) 🙂
Oh yea!!! Wish I could cheer you on in person. Keep me posted
I’d love to take one of your classes! Too bad I live so far away.
Did you taste the pineapple, and was it good? It’s pretty cute!
oh i wish! then we could ride together too! come visit!
Ouch is right…good ouch though! I am with you. I work for a smaller gym with older members and a lot of them really prefer me to workout with them. While I do love it sometimes, there are some occasions where I would rather just motivate and teach. I guess you have to give them what they want…within reason. I’m so glad you’ve found your happy place with it though.
totally! it’s a constant balance. I wish i could come take your classes. I bet you are amazing Sarena.
That workout looks great! I am going to have to try it in the near future for sure!
Oh let me know if you do tara!
I have never done crossfit! Looks intense! So does this workout. You are a killer girl!
it is intense, but good stuff! i only did part of it. Someday we both can do this workout together, soon! k? xxoo
That would be awesome! xoxo
Girl I wish I lived in TX so I could work out with you because I NEED to get TONED!!! GRRRR
Also that mini pineapple better be WORTH of GOLD or a fruit of the spirit since it is 4 bucks!! EEK
i think Austin is calling your name!
I just pinned that workout….for later. 😉
I’ll get to it soon enough.
i’m thinking we can both do the full workout soon… say a month or so?
fingers crossed.
I really need to get kettlebells for the house – love swings and also love the bicycle crunches. Looks like a nice workout 😉
i’m waiting for you to open your own gym. and with a vegan bar? yes, in LR!
Ooh, I LOVE the look of that workout! I adore all the workouts you post actually:), I think ill do this at the gym tonight.
I like Manmakers right now, are they a crossfit move?
Nice to see you have found a way to balance the workout/teach aspect of your job that is suiting you well.
Xxx
never heard of manmankers. i need to look it up. sounds cool! let me know if try this out sarah!
Just finished the workout at the gym- loved.it!
It was perfectly challenging and I sweated up a storm:), I will definitely do again.
The push up to plank row was a new move for me, they did me in! Yes, they were the hardest part for me.
and I really liked the 3 min spin to break up the circuit.
Thanks for the workout Lindsay<3.
Xxx
awesome!!! way to go. It’s a keeper than for sure!
What’s not to love? hehe. I’m sure they loved-to-hate-to-love you before, during and AFTER that killer class. hehe. You rock! Wish I could take one of your classes!!
yes! it’s good fun too. hehe. I am dying to get to your barre9ne class, and jo’s!
It is tough to balance not ‘doing’ too much and instructing and motivating! Because part of you wants to DO it because it’s awesome and part of you wants to motivate and encourage! It’s a good balance of the two and I bet you strike it just so well 🙂
PS $4 for a mini pineapple? please. LOL
yes, spot on. And with the time crunch, ya gotta be on top of it, ya know? Oh i want to go your barre class SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!
