G’day and welcome to the Cotter Feeding Zone. I’m trying this out today. The Feeding Zone that is, kind of like a regular posting with our Fueling/training eats, new foods, reviews, etc. Maybe this will stick around, maybe not. Nothing fancy. In fact, pretty sure they are all pictures from my phone, but hey, it works! And one thing is for sure, you won’t see repetitive eats. I rarely cook the same thing 2x in a week and our meals are always changing due to my husband’s training schedule.
This week at the Cotter FEEDING ZONE we’re focusing on a little more carbs throughout the week, but not too heavy. The kiwi Cotter has a higher volume week, with medium intensity. He has less time to eat between workouts, but needs the right fuel to get through each one. I try to include more snacks and smoothies along with mini meals.
For breakfast I cooked a big batch of TEFF in the rice cooker. This is a delicious and nutrient dense gluten free grain that looks like smaller version quinoa. It’s got a nutty flavor and is great with coconut butter, yogurt, fruit, and/or egg on top.
Lunches have been leftovers in an udis tortilla . also rolled out the Pillsbury GF pizza dough, baked it in the toaster oven, then topped it with feta, chicken, basil, tomato, and spinach. Super quick! You just have to flip the dough over half way. About 3-4 minutes each side at 425F.
Snacks and mini meals (which are really just bigger snacks) have consisted of 3 three things. Smoothies, more smoothies, LARABARS, Mix my Own GF cereal with Corepower. Oh and did I mention Smoothies? haha.
I got to try out MIX my OWN cereal this past week and I am so glad I did. It’s the perfect lower sugar, gluten free, cereal to snack on. I mixed freeze dried fruit, mac nuts, GF oats, hemp seed, and more. Highly recommend ordering some if you want a custom cereal made.
Our cereal and smoothie fix is not complete without our favorite Lactose free High Protein Recovery Drink.
Yes, that would be the NEW BANANA flavor Corepower. It’s only in certain stores right now but they are working on getting in online and into more stores soon.
Let me just tell you, it’s delicious. At first I thought it might taste like a fake banana flavor, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip. Not too sweet. And I love that they use banana puree, natural vanilla, and honey. Makes it perfectly creamy.
Corepower just went national so watch out for some BIG things coming their way soon. Like more LIGHT flavors and possibly a comeback flavor. Shhh.. but you didn’t hear that from me.
We’ve been loving the banana Corepower mixed with PB2, Vanilla Almond Milk, Ice, frozen banana, and a little coconut kefir. It makes for one PERFECT smoothie.
Dinners have been a leftovers at it’s finest. I dig leftovers. Also, Randall’s just started carrying a GF pesto ravioli so that has been my go to on nights when the Kiwi needs a little extra carbs. I paired it with leftover BBQ chicken sausage, corn, fresh herbs and tomatoes (stolen from my parents garden), carrots, peppers, BBQ sauce, and avocado.
Disclaimer: Corepower and MixMyOwn cereal were sent to me free of charge, my thoughts and opinions shared here are (and will always be) MY OWN.
Whelp, there you have it. The Cotter Feeding Zone this week. Good Carbs and all!
What’s on tab in your feeding zone this week?
Are you a banana Flavor fan?
Cheers,
LC
My feeding zone is totally screwed up this week because of my gut issues. A repeat breakfast has been So Delicious vanilla greek yogurt mixed with vanilla Plant Fusion (it tastes like pudding!) and topped with some peeled peach and baked plantain. Lunches have been smoothies, and I’ve had 2 dinners of mashed avocado on GF toast topped with a fried egg. And lots of kombucha, aloe vera juice, and coconut water!
I’m still loving cheeseburgers over here. #blamethebaby And will always love nanners! If they don’t get eaten right away, they’ll make perfect froyo.
banana froyo?! do you have a recipe?
p.s.
Your baby has great cravings. YUM!
Of course I have a recipe 😉

((IMMEDIATELY REGRETS NOT TRYING THE MY OWN CEREAL MIX))
What a lucky guy kiwi cotter is to have such amazing food prepared for him!!! Yum!
well i am lucky he will eat anything too. haha
I want to come eat at The Cotter Feeding Zone! Are you looking to adopt a snack-loving girl into your family? ;). Hahaha, I kid, I kid. I’ll have to keep my eye out for that banana protein shake! My mom loooves banana-flavored everything, and she’s always trying to eat more protein so I think it’d be perfect for her.
yes you can! come on over with your snacky self!
I’ve seen the mix-your-own cereals a lot recently…I’m going to have to try that! As for everything else, I snorted when I saw the first comment – “Can I be your husband, too?” Love it. Haha.
Flavors. I’m a no on that. Banana flavored anything, BLECH. Blueberry flavored anything, BLECH. Same with cantaloupe, too. I LOVE almost ripe bananas…the ones that are still a little green. Blueberries were a big thing I craved when I was pregnant recently, too. I’m just not big on how “flavors” taste.
do you like the banana chobani? Kinda tastes like that. But i can understand your flavoring choices. hehe xxoo
Make your own cereal!? How much fun is that!? Wonder if they ship here- definitely going to check that out. Love the Feedzone post idea— I don’t love banana flavoured drinks etc but I do love bananas. My feedzone has been a lot of salads, almond butter, toast, chickpeas/hummus and granola/fruit/protein powder combos- nothing exciting there!
sounds good to me woman!
YUM!!! Your smoothie with pb2, core power and almond milk looks amazing!!!
i definitely thinks it’s a Tara approved shake!
oh yes we love our bananas!!
I ABHOR bananas, however, I used to LOVEEEE Banana Runts. Remember those little drops of heaven!?! The strawberry ones were pretty MOUTH PLEASING as well! 😉
bahahahaha, i remember those!
Banana Corepower sounds delicious. I’m going to have to hunt down where to find this! Thanks for sharing your “eats” it has given me a few ideas of things to try.
I love banana flavor for sure!
Ok so I have a giant bag of Teff. I originally bought it to make injera, but I couldn’t get it to ferment in my apartment (my fiance would call that a good thing…) so now the rest is just sitting there. How do you cook it?
i cooked it in the rice cooker then added butter and little coconut oil. SO perfect!
Love this!
I love bananas and banana flavours in baked goods. I find that some banana flavours are just so off so, I’m kinda picky when it comes to getting something banana-eee.
Love how you don’t cook the same thing twice in a week. I feel like I need to spice things up a little more now in my kitchen LOL 😉
Ahh TEFF!! Thanks I am going to try it!
let me know whatcha think chels!
My favorite new addition to my eating schedule is overnight TVP “oats” – so happy to have found a non-starch meal that doesn’t make me feel too heavy before my ,owning workouts! 🙂
i wish i could handle more soy. that dish always looks so good!
um yesterday i took the boy out for dinner – lamb belly and duck confit were in my feeding zone!! and eh, not a huge banana person. unless its with chocolate and peanut butter, then im sure i would eat it!
you can take me out to dinner anytime. 😉
I know about a million people have asked, but, can you please come feed me?!? Amazing eats above! Love the personalized cereal!
of course! the more the merrier!
love the “feeding zone” :):):)
We have LOTS of veggies in our zone right now- we have a CSA and the last 2 weeks we have gotten way more than normal so I am doing everything I can to not let anything go to waste!
Love banana flavored stuff, especially ice cream!
banana ice cream? where do i find this? YUM!
everything look delish as always!
I just ordered a GF mix from Mix My Own for Bob. I hope he likes it! 🙂
Key Lime Pie LARABARS are one of my top favorite flavors! As for banana flavored stuff… Eh, not so much a fan. I do love bananas, but not banana flavored stuff.
We’re all about leftovers too! I love banana, I put it in everything!
I usually do not like banana flavored things at all because I never liked the Banana Laffy Taffy as a kid. I am always extremely hesitant about trying anything with banana but I have been pleasantly surprised lately… Especially Cho’s Banana!
that’s what it tastes like! banana cho! so good!
Can you cook quinoa in the rice cooker?
sure can! Add a little coconut butter or oil once it’s done.
I need to try that Core Power! I would look forward to a lighter version for sure! 🙂 Banana – YES!
I won that Bob’s Red Mill gift cert so… 🙂 Maybe make my own cereal.. heck, easier to have someone else do it – that is a cool idea for a company!!!
OK, I just ate & still hungry after reading this post! 😉
I loooove Core Power! I wish it were a bit cheaper, but I like that the company cares about animal care & comfort. So cool, right?
yes! and i think i’ll get to share a discount soon. So that might help ya!
Mmmm….Banana core power over MixMyOwn would be A-MAY-ZING!
My only beef with The Cotter Feeding Zone is that it kind of rubs in the fact that I don’t have a sherpa wife of my own to cook amazing meals for me. Sad face. Seriously though? Yum. That is all <3
i’ll be your sherpa wife anyday! you just bring the coffee, k?
Oooohhhh I bet that banana with the PB2 was fantastic! I used to absolutely hate bananas. But I realized it was the really ripe (ok, just ripe in general) bananas. Now I crave them!
Cotter… outts my head! Adding carbs, granola mixes… LOL! We should make each other suprised granolas. And kombuchas. 😉
Although none of us are pro athletes, it sure would be amazing to have you as a Sherpa ensuring we’re eating right and always having prepared food ready!
I’m trying to eat less since I’m training less, but it isn’t going well for me!
that is the hardest part about training less. Eat more Volume and lots of good protein! for sure!
I love banana flavor anything! That drink sounds awesome and now I want to try it out asap!
So, I’ve never heard of TEFF before. I don’t think I’ve ever even see it at the store. It sounds delicious though.
I want to try that gluten free pizza dough! Just have to find where they’re hiding it at the grocery 🙂
I don’t have an usual day when I’m in the zone.. but I’ll come be your husband for zone week 🙂
haha deal! i promise to not feed you peaches.
oh goodness i love this idea and totally hope it stays around because i always love your IG pics and this sums up your entire week! i love it so much and it’s so interesting how you introduced your week and why your meals were what they were! i love leftovers, too, and i also love banana flavoured stuff 🙂
love banana! you guys definitely know what’s up when it comes to food 🙂
I just walked in post-run and my stomach is growling. Now even louder! The Cotters have a great week of eats there!!
Mix your own cereal, great idea . . . and they even put a nutrition label on it, cool!
Everything looks and sounds tasty!
I really like this post-series-idea! More, more 🙂 yum been wanting to try TEFF but have not found it yet.
I’m in this zone every Thursday and Friday before long runs 😉 That drinks looks amazing!
Can I be your husband too? 🙂
Seriously, he is a lucky man! I love all this food! And the Corepower drink sounds great and delicious, let’s hope it makes it through Switzerland.
My week consists of eggy oats, avocado with chicken, protein shakes and a tons of veggies – nothing new but still so good!
yes, can we come train in switzerland and then i feed us all!!?
