Today is TELL ALL TUESDAY. You see, my husband started this series WAY BACK WHEN he was blogging on a regular basis. It was a post about his daily eats, training, etc. Yup, the daily recap of a professional triathlete. He wouldn’t even let me take pretty pictures of his food for him. It was just a snap shot mess of goodness. Not fancy, just real. Love that guy!
Anyway, last week I noticed something. A post. THAT POST. It was UP again! Which means he’s feeling more confident in his training. Which means he’s feeling STRONGER! Which means he’s happy. Which means, I’m a happy Sherpa wife!
Today I am playing what if.. what if I TOLD YOU my TUESDAY? Sherpa style.
If I were doing a TELL ALL TUESDAY, I’d tell you I was up with the husband at 5am. I’d tell you I didn’t not go to masters swimming with him. Instead, I made coffee, had some much needed reading/devotional time, then prepared breakfast for when he returned home. I also made a quick smoothie for myself.
Kiwi (for my kiwi Cotter), cinnamon, GF Hot rice cereal and oats, hemp seed, and yogurt.
Pineapple, Blackberry, Cocoa Protein shake with Barleans Greens and Vega.
I’d tell you that my training was not nearly as intense as my husbands, but as just beneficial. An hour hike with my dad and the dogs followed by Foundation training with my husband. Yes, I count that as a workout, not an active recovery day. I spent my workout times with two of my favorite men and best friends; my husband and my dad. This made me realize how incredibility blessed I am to have them in my life.
If I were to TELL ALL TUESDAY, I’d tell you that I spent the rest of the afternoon doing SHERPA duties as well as my real work. I stocked up on Cotter staples, packed and shipped of a few early delivery Healthy Bites, wrote workouts for my bootcamp class, etc. I’d also tell you that I was in the kitchen most of the day, cause, well.. it’s basically where I do most of my work anyway. haha.
Cotter Staples
Vegan Cookie Dough Healthy Bites.
Gluten Free Sandwich Lunch and snack plate.
If I were to TELL ALL TUESDAY, I’d tell you our eats change with the season. I’d tell you that fuel, nourishment, and recovery is our main GOAL. I’d tell you that this is what WORKS for us at the moment. I’d also tell you not to overthink food. I am gluten free for a reason. My husband doesn’t have to be, but he enjoys the way it makes him feel. There was a time when not knowing what to eat caused anxiety and stress. Fearing i would get sick again, this only made my stomach worse. Resting our minds and bodies has truly brought healing and nourishment.
If I were to TELL ALL TUESDAY, I’d tell you that my second favorite part of the day (besides my morning coffee) is making dinner. I love the process. I love UNDOING and UNWINDING the day. Chopping up ingredients, sipping on wine, and filling our bellies.
Tuna cakes made with 2 cans wild caught Tuna, coconut flour, 2 eggs, fresh herbs, lemon pepper, fried in coconut butter. Topped with homemade garlic yogurt sauce (combined laughing cow cheese with chobani and garlic) and Peri-Peri sauce.
If I were to TELL ALL TUESDAY. I’d tell you that my sherpa job outweighs my real job right now. I have taken on only one nutrition client in 2 years and to be honest, I’m fine with that. My view of nutrition has changed so much over the years due to my own health. I also think we live in a confused society. Too much stress, too many extremes, and not enough balance. But needless to say, I’m still passionate about nutrition. Here’ are a few great articles that are worth a read.
-
Cooking with Essential Oils
-
Sugar : the American Diet
Yes, that is what I would tell you on this Tuesday.
What would you tell me? What’s your Tell All Tuesday?
Cheers,
LC
This was a fun read! Thanks for sharing 🙂 can’t wait to read the hubs post… So glad he’s feeling strong and you’re a happy Sherpa wife. What a blessing to spend time with the hubs AND your dad! That’s the best 🙂
i know you can relate. <3
Your posts about your ‘duties’ as a sherpa wife hit such a sweet spot for me. I am blessed to have a partner who works hard, challenges himself and has big goals. He understands my goals and the work it takes to reach them.
I am his sherpa and he is mine (although he literally is my sherpa for triathlons, I am his for auto races and other events).
No matter what your goals are, the support of your spouse is critical to success. I love reading about your support for James that seems so genuinely rooted in love.
Happy Friday lady!
sounds like a perfect match! and support is key. Means you respect each other, yes!
My morning coffee is my favorite part of the day, too. Something about that calm moment to sit and gather your thoughts for the day. Love this sneak peek into your life 🙂
i don’t understand life without coffee
JC is so lucky to have you!!! youre the #1 sherpa of all time! it bums me out that kiwicotters website is blocked at my work. silly work.
I LOVE that your husband is feeling stronger in his training, so great!! and speaks to YOUR wonderful sherpa duties, my friend!! I love how at peace you are with your work, your training, your eats, everything. Channel that the next time you start to feel unsteady, and your faith, of course. Love you!
If it were a Tell All… I would tell you you’re right. Who cares how many clients you’ve taken on in the past few years? You’re doing what you love and that’s what matters.
Love this format! Thanks!
Yip, I clicked on the wine article first 😉
of course. It’s the best one. Love ya! How are you feeling these days?
Can I tell you that I love this post? Love that James is back to training and love your Tell All Tuesday. I love how you’ve created your life that allows you to do so many of the things that you love and spend good time with the people who you love. For me, I would tell you that I’m super frustrated with my body lately (sick and then stomach issues) and think that I need to get a bit more serious about figuring out the stomach issues. They haven’t been that bad but man, in the last week they have been horrendous!
oh no! is it stress? You can email me anytime. You know i know all about stomach issues.
HA! It’s Wednesday, I don’t have to tell ANYTHING 😉
However, I will say that I am going to New Mexico tomorrow – SO LONG LA for the weekend (THANK GOD! lol)
hehe, youre clever! have fun in NM!
Was that Vegemite I spied?
sure did, and marmite. My husband can’t live without it!
thank you for telling all! i needed that little paragraph about worry. I need to pick your brain soon about your balls. Working on finding a snack that isn’t raw fruit/veggies (too many allergic reactions), needs to be gluten-free, dairy free, and nut free (including sunflower seeds b/c those have always made me sick!). Could be interesting … or impossible!
Oh baby, those vegan bites are calling out to me.
I always just love your posts, they are full of positive wisdom, self awareness, and are just overall wonderful!
We always need to learn how to better balance our lives with such an overload stress and extremeness.
yes, always learning to better balance. gosh, i so agree. <3
From just switching gears, being more aware, and eating a little bit better this week, my tummy is slowly, but surely starting to feel better. Little changes can make a big overall change. Now I just need to up the workouts and hopefully I will be where I want to be. Patience, practice, listening, but also enjoying the process!
enjoy the process, it’s always a process! but a good one!
we learned that we need to be more diligent parents to our pup…. he has been insanely hyper, so we got him out to the big dog park to play. We also learned that there is absolutely no keeping him out of mud puddles!
oh gosh, those mud puddles. my pup does the same. oye!
Beautiful post, as always Lindsay!
I couldn’t agree more with this statement: There was a time when not knowing what to eat caused anxiety and stress. Fearing i would get sick again, this only made my stomach worse. Resting our minds and bodies has truly brought healing and nourishment.
You know what? I used to go over restaurant menus before going out to dinner- NOT anymore! Not that we go out to dinner anymore (haha!) but I just don’t stress it! I WILL find something, and that’s all that matters. No need to put undue stress on our bodies.
gosh i knew you could relate, and you are part of the reason why i am not stressing. So thank YOU! healing encouragement
I love the positive approach you bring to all the different parts of your day/life!!!
I would say that I’m happy I tried something new a week ago (Zumba) and I actually went back to try again (and laugh at myself).
oh zumba, it’s harder than it looks, yes!
lovely! and it makes me happy to know that hubs’ is feeling better 🙂 and i finally bought my first nutzo!!
yay for nuttzo! are you addicted now?
My favorite part of the day is listening to my husband make up songs and then my son singing them back to me. My parents were pretty vacant the first 10 years of my life and it makes my heart full to have these relationships that are so fulfilling.
Sending you an email about HB now 🙂
oh i just love that kelly. Warms my heart. And sending you an email back tonight!
Lindsay, I swear my blood pressure just greatly reduced by reading this post…it has such an air of contentment and peace that is often lacking in the everyday. Thanks for sharing this post (and adding that killer workout).
Best, best, best,
meg aka the compost cook
you are a breath of fresh air friend. <3 <3
On my TOT I would say that looking at that Master Swim workout makes me realize what a soft rookie I am … no wonder I am not seeing or feeling the fitness result.
you are comparing yourself to a professional who was competitive swimmer before too. Ya, youre still badass to me for swimming!!
I’d tell you that you are incredibly strong for doing what you do day in and day out. That you are a wonderfully loving and supporting wife, and an inspiration to those whom you share your life with.
So, I want to tell you Thanks!
oh friend, you are so kind. THank you for such encouraging words! xxoo
I want your dinner- looks fantastic! So glad to hear that hubs is feeling good about his training again. And I love the peek into your day!
you need to come really peek into my day before you leave TX!
You’re such a great wife to make your husband breakfast for when he comes home from a workout! I really am waiting for the Birthday Cake (aka sprinkle) Healthy Bites! I’m glad you enjoyed a nice hike with your two favorite men. It’s nice to just have quality time!
your bday cake is coming soon! what’s your address?
I would tell you that I’m more than happy to let you indulge in your love of cooking dinner with me 😀 I would also tell you that I’ve been a little too lazy in the kitchen lately and that most of my meals take 10 minutes or less to prep. Oops 😳
i bet your meals are still scrumptious, yes.. it needs to be said.
I love your tell all!! I know I’ve said it so many times, but I’d love to live near you so we could hike and share our similarities!! I love a “simple” life!
yes please, i would looooove that! cherish it!
The best is that you are wholly happy with your place in life right now. Your day sounded pretty darn perfectly matched to your priorities.
My day yesterday was a whirlwind..kids finish school on Friday, so it was all about running errands so that I won’t have to do them once they’re home, plus all my workouts. It was a good, but tiring, day!
Keepin’ busy! Your workout(s) sound great. I could use a hike!
i need more healthy bites in my life, i think that would make me worry less, ha!
it’s fun to see how you manage to balance work, spirit and body!
i need to bring you more healthy bites. Let’s meet up. gah… i want to see ya!
cookie dough bites – those are my kind of bites!!! i think i did my tell all tuesday yesterday in the blog lol but i can’t wait for this weekend because my best friend is getting married!
oh that will be fun! enjoy friend!
Oh, I love this! This Sherpa wife is ready to take some time for herself too! The past 4 weeks have been devoted to my amazing husband and I am worn out! I feel like we’ve been on a marathon of life! Recovery time is here!
oh woman, i know you can relate. rest up this week and weekend. wish i could come spoil you!
MINE IS SO SO SO LONG AND CONVOLUTED it would be a tell ALL DAY TUESDAY 🙂
haha, i’d listen ALL DAY!
Love all the telling in here. Sounds like a great way to start the day- and a great way to end it!
Wow- James sure is lucky to have such a fabulous sherpa preparing him healthy, delicious meals!
Hmm- I’d tell you I wasn’t feeling well this weekend but feel loads better today and hope to keep going on the up and up!
so glad you are feeling better. being sick during summer is the worst!
This: “There was a time when not knowing what to eat caused anxiety and stress. Fearing i would get sick again, this only made my stomach worse.” If only I’d have heard that two years ago. So true!!! I still feel that anxiety and stress sometimes, but I am much better now at letting go of it. ABeing prepared always helps.
My favorite part of the day is coffee, follwoed by any time spent outside, followed by unwinding in the evening, with dinner. 😀
i know friend. if only we could have go back in time. But then again, it makes us stronger today!
I agree with you on the too much stress and too many extremes way of life that we all lead! Taking time to for balance and learning how to enjoy life, enjoy ourselves, and enjoy our loved ones is something that is always needed!
Yay for tell all Tuesday! I will tell you that I’m figuring out worrying about what might harm my body is adding more stress tan it’s supposed to. Funny how that works. I also want to come unwind and make dinner with you. And….. so glad James is feeling better and back into training. HUGS!
i think you should come spend the day with me. We can stress less and laugh more!
I love “Tell All Tuesday!” 🙂 I was soooo very excited when I saw James’ post, and now with you too!
Love the little “worry” pic at the top- definitely need that reminder. Tuesday’s are usually my day off so it’s full of errands and lots of training. Tuesdays are also SYTYCD night which means I make sure all training is done by 8pm so I can curl up with a ton of food and watch dance all night long! That’s my tell all!
that’s a good tuesday!
Love this post! Such a beautiful day…beginning to end. There really is no better time spent than with the most important people in your life.
couldn’t agree more!
We just made dinner together and it was much needed after a long day~
we would tell you that the past two days it has been nice to have our food made for us – thanks to Whole Foods. tell you that we got a little lazy with making food and just liked it being made already 😉
xoxo
I love this! 🙂
I’d tell you that my days go in three hour increments with my little man. I feed him for 30 min, we play together for about 30 min, then he naps for an hour or two, and I rush around getting as much done as I can while he snoozes. Then… we start all over. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I just love my little guy.
i love this, you are one happy blessed mama!
Love it all Lindsay!! Love the love of family & life & just being! 🙂 Love the worry quote – yup – it is tough not to worry but it does rob us of joy & I can imagine you in that kitchen cooking away & making my bites! 😉 Crap, I have to order June bites! 😉
I did my normal stuff BUT I did take my 10 minute walk again!!!! YES!
i wish i could join you for that walk, some day!
I would tell you that your pup looks like the cutest thing in the whole wide world.
I would also tell you that I want to have dinner (or any meal) with the Cotter crew.
I would then tell you that I would be sad because it probably means you would have to cook then I would be sitting there alone.
But I would then tell you that the pup kept me company and now we are best friends.
you wouldn’t be alone, you’d be having a beer with cotterjp, waiting to be fed!
Love this one (I say that all the time don’t I??). I think that it’s perfectly acceptable that your training is totally different than Jame’s and it doesn’t make it any “less.” My tell it all Tuesday is that I’m getting terribly frustrated with my body, something you know all about, but that having something to look forward to like lunch with my dad certainly made my day a whole lot better.
yes, i know all too well. ugh. but i love that you had your dad to cheer you up!
‘Resting our minds and bodies has truly brought healing and nourishment.’
That sentence was definitely for me. I need to post this up somewhere that I can see it all the time! Just when I feel completely drained and depleted, your post comes up. Thank you for such a valuable reminder! xoxo
And that was a perfect explanation of why I love making dinner. I just could never articulate it! Unwinding, undoing the day… oh yes.
yes, post it! it kinda sinks in and then i realize that rest (mind and body) is all for God by God, ya know? <3
Cooking while sipping on some vino…especially after a long day…is the best! It’s great therapy 🙂
