Happy “MON” day all! I totally forgot about my little anecdote there until Ms. Missy reminded me on FB. Thanks Missy, I needed that kick in the butt reminder.
Speaking of kicks in the butt, I am kicking myself for not updating earlier. At least I have a giveaway to make up for it. You’ll see, hang with me here.
So the past several weeks, the Cotter’s have been focusing on two things: Health and Healing. You’d think we’d fully embrace this mode but to be honest, it’s been harder than I thought. Rest more, stress less, communicate to each other, etc. A LOT of time has been invested in our “health” that ultimately is suppose to “heal.” Right? Well, yes, but SOMETIMES that healing only comes when we give up control and learn to let others help us where we cannot help ourselves. The hubs is great at this. He knows what what things he cannot fix or heal himself, then seeks the attention needed.
And that he did! The hubs has been working with a sports specific trainer for the past month, 3x a week. Here’s a peak at what he’s been doing to strengthen that knee! You might want to try these yourself.
As for me, I am learning to do the same, seek help in my own healing (physically and emotionally). Let me just tell you, it’s been a humbling experience. I’d like to write more on my current “health and healing,” but I know there will be a time and place for that.
OK, let’s get back to the point here. Health and healing. Stress free and strength! They go hand in hand. A few weeks ago Natural Vitality sent me a few sample products. The one that sparked my interest the most was the CALM. I knew that this product would be a great addition to our diet and since we were in the middle of our “move,” it could not have come at a more perfect time. We used the CALM at night and during the afternoon when we felt a little more run down (more mentally than anything).
I really enjoyed the Raspberry Lemonade CALM. I felt as if my body was getting those additional nutrients needed when in a stressed environment. Now, this did not cure my stress but it did help my body feel less stressed and relieve it some what. Does that make sense? Hope so.
I want you to be able to try this for yourself. You may feel run down or stressed due to work, training, life in general and what better way to CALM the body than to strengthen it with extra nutrients. Let’s give some away.

LC
I would like to try Natural Vitality’s calcium supplement
I like Natural Vitality sports on facebook

That raspberry lemonade calm drink sounds perfect right about now!!
You have the cutest family. Hubs is so adorbs, i mean strong! in that video:)
I’ll be thinking about you… I am sure you have so much going on.
xx
oh thank you Nichole. I know you know that chaos in this transition. All good though, right?
🙂
I could totally use some of that CALM myself, especially today!
Great vid of you and your husband. He did a GREAT job explaining those strengthening exercises, very valuable information! Gee… is K Swiss his sponsor? 😉
how could you tell Kswiss is a sponsor? haha. I hope you get to try the CALM. I think we could all use it right about NOW!
great quote! man, I wish I could be a bit calmer sometimes, I’m like a mini-tornado most of the time 🙂
well maybe that mini tornado will become a wind gust after some CALM. hehe. Hope so!
Mental healing can definitely be much more challenging than physically healing. I’ll be thinking about you! Hope all is going well 🙂
I agree. Its that emotion that take a toll on us. All part of that healing process though, right?!
xxoo
I’m really working on strengthening myself physically. I’m incorporating more weight training into my plan to gain muscle and overall strength.
Mentally, I’m taking time for myself. I’m trying to have at least 30 minutes everyday where I just relax. Whether that’s reading, drinking a cup of tea, or catching up on a tv show. It’s like taking an off day for your muscles, it’s necessary to get stronger.
yes, so important. Gain muscle and strength to keep those running legs strong!
I liked Natural Vitality Sports on FB!
I’m following on twitter!
What an awesome giveaway!!
I would love to try the Natural Calm PLUS Calcium! It heals cramped muscles?! Yes, please!!
Wait, James does 150 “lunges from hell?” (that was what an old trainer friend of mine called those: LFH…I spent a whole day trying to figure out what she meant by LFH when she emailed me haha). So anyway 150? EACH LEG? and how many reps at a time, just curious. Those other single leg squats look great too- I’m going to incorporate them b/c my hip has trouble occasionally from weak glutes (and I’ve had knee issues too).
Thanks Cotters!
I struggle so much with patience and that’s oh so important with stress relief and mental health!
oh i know. If were all patient then we might be happier, but a little less productive. FIne line we walk, eh?
good quote. really good one. I might have to use it myself it’s so good. 🙂 i wish calcium and magnesium could heal my hip so I could be a triathlete again. 🙂
Love the video, Linds! Those do look like some really great exercises to try. Thanks James for sharing. Great quote at the end too 🙂 sending a hug right back at ya!
they really make your quads burn too! and thanks for the hugs sabrina. I can feel it all the way from CANADA!
i love how you are focusing on health and wellness right now lindsay. so happy for james too 🙂
I think it is our best medicine right now. I miss running and training but spending more time with the hubs and resting has been a blessing.
I liked them on fb!
Something I have been focusing on in the last few weeks is not working as much on the weekends. Just enjoying time with family and good conversations is incredibly mentally and emotionally healing.
Oh I am so glad you are the hubs are working on healing. I am glad I’m not the only one working on this right now. It is such a busy time of year and so important to remember about ourselves in the process of helping everyone else. I’d love to try the natural calm.
yes, we all need that focus right. Its been a hard summer, good, but hard on the body. Lets embrace that extra rest! wish we could all be together too! xxoo
I’d love to try the natural calm
Tell your husband “thank you” for the exercise video and we would like more!

I liked them on fb!
Cool product! I love their webpage! I really think that that raspberry lemonade CALM sounds delicious!
oh yes Gen, the raspberry lemonade does the trick. Hope you are doing well.
Oh, I would love to try anything. God knows I could use some “calm” in my life. and yes, I think healing comes when you give up control (even though it’s just so hard to do). 🙂 Virtual hugs right back at ya! 🙂
yes you do mama! CALM might help after a busy day running around with the kiddos and training. Hope you get to try it. Hugs!
I would love to try CALM. I could totally use it during a busy week. Sometimes I forget to just take a step back and just breathe.
i think we all do that! needing to breathe instead of holding our breath and go go go. Agreed!
Lindsay! We are SO on the same wavelength!! I tried CALM for the 1st time last week because a friend recommended it – and I LOVE IT! Fabulous giveaway…I’m going to check out their website to learn more. xo
we are always on the same wavelength! i know you’d love this stuff! I just might have to bring some up to Dallas. woo!
yes they do go hand in hand! it can be hard to seek help and advice, I struggle with it too, but glad you are finding relief 😉
sometimes we think we are invicible, but we are not. we need help from others. We learn from others too, right? <3
checked out their website and i love that they make everything with athletes in mind…plus just having something calm combined with nutrients (like calcium!) sounds soooo healthy and great for your body!
Love when you guys post videos! Hey, James!
My glutes were on FIRE during a few miles of the run on Saturday (just a few, which is odd, ha) and I remember thinking “does this mean I’m using them correctly, or incorrectly?” Hah, who ever really knows. What i DO know is that my hamstrings were still sore after doing squats on Thursday. Ugh, sad.
i think its a sign that they are being used but need to continue to get used (aka strength train). So jump on it girl, 2x a week at least! this is your trainer talking. haha.
I love Mon Day.
It’s weird, huh….there is (understatement in 5, 4, 3, 2…)
a lot going on in Cotterville at precisely the time you wanted to dedicate to this pursuit. Coinky dink? I think not *winkwink*.
It’s like patience. We always think we have so much patience, right? Things that bother others? No sweat. Until we become impatient. LOL. I think God uses incidents so that we can really “practice” what we pray for. We pray for the ability to maintain calm? We find out what that means in the hail-storm during rush hour. Not at the beach.
I have no idea what inspired that ramble, except your words and (maybe?) my Mon Day pinot.
oh wise one missy. Your ramble put a lot things in perspective for me. I love that. You know my heart so well. sheeesh!
Oh and the pinot must have been magical. Mine was a cab. I think it hit the spot for this “MON” day though.
🙂
Wow–I’ve never heard of this company…but I could totally use some Calm this week!
oh lisa, you would LOVE LOVE this product. Such a great compliment to your new diet/exercise approach.
I liked their news link on the side…..and the NutraRev looks like something I would try.
Love your quote at the bottom. I’m all about inspirational quotes lately. My little mantras to get me though the tough times.
Those mantras have been huge lately, i agree! words to live by for sure!
not entering since I was lucky enough to have you share already (when I needed it MOST, thank you SO much!). big hugs to you both <3
hugs to you! been meaning to email you. How are “things.” hows dad?!
I tweeted!
I like them on facebook!
Oooh I totally want to try their premium food-based multi-vitamin!
that one is good! i loved all their liquid vitamins!
I try to strengthen my body through my workouts and mentally, I try to stay positive and find inspiration from amazing friends like you.
I tweeted about the giveaway
The osteo calm – I often wonder if I’m not magnesium deficient. I’ve heard that being deficient can lead to headaches/migraines. And I’m starting to get them again since the mileage is increasing.
Now, back to the more important thing from the post – you and the hubs. Glad you guys are taking the time to heal. And I hope you are doing better my friend. Hugs!
i think you’ll really like this drink. It will help with headaches and post run dehydration/free radical stress. Maybe you’ll win and can use it post half marathon!!
p.s.
Thanks for your hug. I love it!
so so so glad you two are focused on healing, physically and emotionally! It’s been quite a rollercoaster for you both and I’m SURE this “calming” time is so so so needed. You two will be even stronger together – and as individuals because of these experiences. I’m sure of it. Hang in there my friend! xo
its like we don’t know what to do with this time. But a good thing to relearn. REST! <3
Aaaand I strengthen myself physically by hitting the weights, pavement, and frisbee; mentally by playing KenKen (and doing that college thing); and emotionally by just having finished reading ‘The Hours.’ haha.
oh Frisbee! what a great outlet. I miss that!
I like all the links to informational articles and news on the site. And I would also want to try the NutraRev.
I hope things are getting there for you! I’m thinking about you two! Mental healing is the worst and I swear it takes forever! Love ya sweetie!
its all good healing, just gotta be patient. I know you know that feeling. Love you! thanks for always being there.
I follow nvsports on twitter 🙂
I’d love to try the NutraRev!
you’d love it Natalie!
I just wanted to tell you that you make the best faces ever! 🙂
haha, so do you! oh and geeze, we totally forgot to get together. My bad (picture sad face!). This weekend??
We are ridiculous, aren’t we!? 😉 This weekend I have internship on both Saturday and Sunday so that’s probably not gonna work… maybe the one after that? Oy! 🙂
Haha I was going to say the same thing! I LOVE your faces!! And I love that you two are focusing on health and healing! Team Cotter are going to come back stronger than ever! 😀
i sure hope so. GOd is working in hard in us. I know he’s been working in you too! how are you feeling friend?
