Spring in Texas, it’s pretty much the best time ever! The wild flowers and bluebonnets are blooming, the sun is shining, and the temperature is a pleasant 70F. Can it just stay that way forever? That would definitely help keep me outside and enjoying the trails EVERY day.
Do I have a set goal, plan, or routine when it comes to Spring Fitness? I’m not gonna lie… I don’t have one in particular. But after Suzanne wrote about “Breaking Middle Ground and Strength Training Goals” yesterday, I felt inspired. Actually, I felt determined.
Well, here’s the thing. I don’t like using the word “goal.” To me, that means there is an ultimate end or achievement in mind. Great for REAL GOALS but not the “goal” I am thinking about.
I like to think I have a specific “vision” I am working towards. One that helps keep me motivated, yet realistic.
My vision is to be the best side kick I can be for others. Whether it be teaching my indoor/outdoor boot camp classes, enjoying recovery runs/walks with the kiwi (aka husband), or helping my dad (soon to be 70 years old) get back into running. Did I tell you he wants to run a half marathon? Now that’s a great goal!
To me, being the support/sidekick/Sherpa keeps me trying new routines while enjoying good company! It’s about being PURPOSEFUL in actions (life and fitness related). It also makes me thankful for the ability to run and for my current health.
Okay, so I’ve got the motivation, the vision, and the Spring time weather. What’s missing here? Oh ya… THE GEAR!
More specifically, WARM WEATHER gear! Please tell me you love Spring fitness apparel as much as I do, yes?!
Here are a few of my Spring time FITGEAR favorites from Adidas Women Spring line.
Above is the Climalite ultimate twist tights and ultimate sleeveless tee. I really love purple and gray together, hence the outfit choice. The climalite® fabric helps keep sweat away from your skin, another bonus for when the weather gets warmer, which it will.
For shorts, I chose a pink climachill run short and the black climachill tank to go with it. I figured this outfit would be great for the trails when it gets warmer because the CLIMACHILL™ material keeps you cool with it’s meshlike fabric. Plus both tank and top have aluminum-silver dots that help drive heat away from the body.
The shoes! They weren’t kidding when they named these the ENERGY boost running shoes. I’ve worn these for a quick 4 mile loop around the block and while teaching outdoor boot camp (lots of sprint work there). Very nice fit and lots of “pop” to it. It feels as if the shoes return as much energy as you give. I went with half a size smaller than I normally do and I’m glad I did because they fit perfect. They weigh around 7.9ounces and have a special techfit™ material for more flexible support and a seamless fit. Very easy to slide on and off, like a sock! I’ll keep you posted on how the longer runs go.
Well, I think I’m all set now thanks to Adidas. I’ll be an EXTRA motivated Sherpa this Spring! Ohh my boot camp ladies will love more of these workouts! Haha.

I love the idea of a vision vs a goal – how fantastic! I am going to have to re-work my summer to fit a vision. Thank you!
I don’t have a real specific fitness goal or vision this year, unless you count making my jiggly bits less jiggly. That’s a constant theme for me. Last year, I was training for a Tough Mudder so I definitely had a goal then, but this year, I’m enjoying the laid back approach to fitness.
haha i love your goal! sounds like it’s a good go with the flow!
cute gear on a cute girl 🙂
WOW-Your dad is such an inspiration! 70 and training for a half! When I grow Up, I wanna be like that!
And You are such an inspiration – supporting and encouraging others, “being purposeful” is such a wonderful goal!
btw, those shoes sound pretty fab – I haven’t run in Adidas before – now my curiosity is piqued!
i want to be like him too! haha
Love those clothes! And spring there sounds so, so inviting. Gray and snowy/rainy here today (again!). Hate to complain about the weather, I think we’re all just ready to feel a “real” spring. Ahh well. Makes me love the moments of heat we get briefly later in the summer. 😉 Especially b/c I know how much your summer heat is so intense! Opposite worlds. haha
I’m more of a vision maker than a goal setter too, which is funny, because as a PT you’re taught to help people set goals, right? But they just don’t work for me. 😉 Miss you, Sherpa!
If only Spring could last forever! I am totally enjoying as much outside time as possible before the temperature reaches triple digits! While preggers my Spring Fitness vision consists of walking as much as my hips will allow and continuing with my classes. Once the little bambino arrives and I’ve recovered a bit, I look forward to making more concrete goals! 🙂
don’t remind me.. ugh summer
why did it take me so long to figure out you are in Texas..dont tell me DallaS?
i’m originally from dallas actually! but we’ve so much since i left college over 10 years ago! haha. Now i’m in austin.
Don’t give me a reason to go look at even more workout clothes! At least I can’t really fit into them now!
haha, maybe more stretchy pants, right?
I love this – you’re the best sidekick. friendship, fellowship, prayer, support <3
you’re my sidekick, always
LOVE all the purple in their line! So cute for spring!! And I like to make a few monthly goals, goals a few months out and then sent little weekly mini goals. I’m a true planner. 😀
ahhh i wish i was like you!
I simply love your vision(s)…
And new gear too!
I love the idea of a vision, especially when I don’t have a goal. Ha! I went through a period when I wasn’t training for an event, so I called it un-training. Kind of like a vision, it just meant I wanted to stay healthy, fit and happy (but didn’t have to run any 20 milers like I do when I’m training for my GOAL marathon!).
i like untraining! haha it sometimes needed
Those pretty bluebonnets sure make me miss home! I’m from College Station! Nice to see another Texan in the blogging world! 🙂
it’s the best time of year, isn’t it!?
I like to have long term goals (like running a 10k) and then leave the nuts and bolts more relaxed. Having a goal gives me motivation while keeping my day to day actions stress free. I’m loving all the cute spring clothes, and your dads marathon goal!
yes, agreed! long term goals work best for me too!
I love my Adidas gear! My spring vision is to restore my health. Now Plantar Fasciitis 🙁
praying it does friend! spring renewal and healing
Love your outfit it is so pretty. It makes me want to buy new fitness gear, which isn’t really hard to make me want to do. It is Autumn here but you wear similar gear to when it is spring 🙂
true! and if you wear it in the gym, then it really doesn’t matter the season, right? time to shop!
Love the outfit and having a vision! Your dad is my hero! I hope when I’m pushing 70 I am still out on the roads and trails. I just updated my spring wardrobe, pretty pumped!
me too! i swear he looks 50, or younger
so happy you’re loving your new gear 😀 you look absolutely amazing in it 😀 xoxoxo so that is always a plus 😉 i am just working on getting stronger and better at my lifts! i look forward at becoming better and better after each workout 🙂
work it girl!! 😉
I have visions of enjoying a lovely run outside in the sunny, warm weather.. Now if only the [new] snow would melt so that my vision can become a reality 😆
maybe you need to make a big bonfire tonight so that it will melt? At least you could roast marshmallows??! hehe
Your dad rocks! And so does that workout. And of course, the cute clothes!
he amazes me every day! so thankful
Another fantastic workout for me to try! I miss those boot camp days. And a huge congrats to your dad for training for a half! How amazing!
let me know whatcha think of it Amy!
I’m like you Crazy Cotter…I don’t like to set goals, but I am thinking maybe a half marathon somewhere so that it can give me an excuse to travel, but we’ll see No really sure what I’m craving these days. Kookie Katie is all over the place. XOXO
I think I’m like you… I have a vision more so than a goal. I hope to PR in a half I’m running later this month… I’m a little scared because I have only done two speed workouts lately… whoops.
that’s okay. Just focus on what you can do. Small victories, right?
This was an amazing post! I love your thoughts and motivation behind the “vision” you have for your life! SO inspiring! Also, you look absolutely adorable in that Addidas wear! So so so cute!!
you are inspiring woman! we need to meet
so it was about 70 degrees monday, and 60ish yesterday. and i woke up to snow covering my car and a 21 degree day. darn you new england!! also not a fan of my seasonal allergies giving me a hard time when im running 🙁 love love those sneaks. cute outfits make me excited to workout.
your winter is never ending.. boo!!!
I miss bluebonnets!
Love the new shoes – interesting that you went a half size smaller. Is that standard for Adidas? I’ve actually started having to go up a 1/2 size in all of my running shoes.
I know, i usually wear a 9.5 in others but these ran big for some reason. I think it is standard for them. great shoes though!
Oh how I wish I could take your bootcamp class! Maybe I would get some arms like you then 😉 I like your “vision” idea… I’m going to continue TRX, strength training & my friday group fitness class. Other then that no big races coming up & I’m just going to run whenever I feel like instead of stressing over it!
those are perfect friend! beautiful vision of health and happiness
Wow those shoes look amazing! I love how you color-coordinated too 🙂
that’s the only fashion sense i have. ha
I SO love the way you think. I love the idea of having a vision vs a goal! Boy, my fitness routine is about to change this Spring. I’m going to be having some crazy work hours, so I’m just going to have to squeeze in fitness whenever possible. We’ll see how well that works out;)
it is do-able! i know you can SQUEEZE that in friend. xxoo
my spring fitness routine will be to take baby william out for lots of walks in his stroller! once the weather gets nice, of course! we had flurries the other day – FLURRIES IN APRIL!
I have goals for the year but right now I’m more focused on a vision of finding out what being the best I can be looks like. You’re the best sidekick/support/Sherpa I know! Love you!
you are so good at that!! i love how things have changed (for the good for you). Love YOU
I love how you think sister! And cuuuute! Love your new Adidas-wear!
and i love how you think!! Big visions! how’s the house hunting/selling?
well… it’s coming along. hoping the FIFTH offer is a charm. 😉 xoxo
I have never thought about thinking of it as a vision instead of a goal, but I love that outlook! I loved the guest post you had yesterday, and I actually used the information I learned to change up my workout I had planned for yesterday afternoon. I would say my vision is to become stronger, and to improve myself as a runner.
that’s awesome!! how id it go?
I love that your Dad is getting back into running at 70!! That makes my heart happy! Like REALLY happy!
i thought of you. I knew you would be proud of him
I have a big goal/vision, but I have been a bit of track lately. I am hoping I find my motivation soon. I have faith I will.
i have faith you will too!
We are on the same page today! I just posted about how I’m going to stray from my running plan (I’ve held myself to training plans for going on 4 years straight now, even when I wasn’t training with races), and incorporate some new stuff aside from just running, since I’ve been falling off the cross-training bandwagon. Your dad is AWESOME – what an inspiration! And you look adorable in all the gear!
you totally need a break. You need it more mentally. Maybe you can be type A- now. haha
I love your outlook on everything! always so positive and motivated! Seriously can you rub some of that off on me!? Love the gear looks great!
i try. I think it’s engraved in me. Haha.
CUTE clothes!!!!! The shoes look a bit narrow in the toe box where I need tons of room but they are cute!
I love your visions! Such beauty too this time of year where you are!
My only goal/vision right now is to keep on moving & trucking along so I age healthy… 🙂
well you do it well! my inspiration!
You are a lady with vision! I love what this brings to mind – if you have the vision and believe it’s possible, it IS!
word to your mother! i mean yes brother.. from another mother. I don’t know where i am going with this. Is it Friday yet?
I think I just found my workout for today. Thanks for being my side kick! 😉
let me know how it goes!
I absolutely LOVE your approach to goals – I am the same. It’s more like a vision, or an attitude I want to reach. I may have smaller goals like being able to do handstands, but that is just something I don’t stress over. I don’t have a timeframe for that, just one day.
I will be in Prague over Easter and they have an outlet there with tons of adidas – from last year though. Still, I can not wait to shop!!!
you make me want to do handstands now! and can i come to your easter?!
Yay to spring! Whether it’s a goal or a vision, I just think it’s important to always be willing to evaluate oneself and looking for ways to grow and improve. As long as I’m doing that, I feel good. 🙂
exactly!! evaluating is key. Just did that
YES – a vision! I like that so much better than declaring a goal. And Suzanne’s post yesterday definitely made me get my rear in gear with my weights. I’ve been stuck in a rut/habit and totally switched it up yesterday. Hello DOMS!
me too! lifting can be so much effective if we have a plan, right? haha
So nice you are having gorgeous spring weather to enjoy on the trails! And how amazing is your dad?!
I am probably the least goal-oriented person I know! I like the thought of visions instead.
we can hang together! vision girls!
I’m SO glad that spring is finally here! I definitely want to take my workout routine outside as much as possible – lots of walking, hiking and biking. And I also love spring fitness apparel! I already wore my capris and tank to Zumba the other day. It felt so refreshing!
I want to come hike!!
