NOTE: just wanted to THANK YOU all for your kind words and encouragement from this weekend. The hubs race didn’t go as planned, and that’s okay. I’ve got pictures to show and words to share. But for now, I will switch focus and stay positive. Here’s a little“afternoon tea” that hopefully leaves you feeling refreshed or at least interested. haha.
I’m a Texas girl at heart. Born and raised. The one thing I remember vividly about my childhood is summer time and sweet tea. My mom always had to have (and still does) a large dixie cup full of sweet tea and lemon by her side each afternoon under that blistering Texas sun. No matter where we were, we had to find a Dickie’s BBQ that served good ‘ol fashion sweet tea. Not in a bottle…..no way….no how. It had to be fresh from the pitcher. I never really got it. I just knew that was “her” thing. And come to find out, that was A LOT of southern women’s “thang.” The southern sweet tea fixation.
To this day, my tea of choice is of course Kombucha, but I am learning to embrace my southern roots and thanks to the NEW Lipton iced tea campaign, I am able to do just that. In my own kind of “southern” way.
What flavor would you try?
Cheers,
LC
p.s.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Gen-Yknot on behalf of Lipton and received Lipton product samples and a subscription to Pandora One to facilitate my candid review. Gen-Yknot also sent me a promotional item to thank me for my time. And if you’ve made it this far through the post, let me know. I’ve got an extra coupon to send to someone. You just have to leave a clever comment first. haha! I’ll choose someone this week.
🙂
Gosh, I am so glad I found your site – you are a blessing. I was scared half to death because I drank the pomagrante blueberry and then later read that it was not gluten free : http://www.chacha.com/askChaCha/is+lipton+iced+tea+pomegranate+blueberry+gluten+freeSo I was scared half to death as I had just drank one 2 hours ago. Does anyone have anymore info on this?thank you
well at least we know it will pass, right? Hope the week is getting better friend. Lindsay ________________________________
Can I say that I would try them all?? 🙂 I LOVE tea. Sorry about his race…I'm feeling that this week too.

Yum, sounds good! I made it to the end…and would love some free goodies:). I am just catching up on my blog reading now, so will have to go read your next post, but I'm very sorry to hear that your hubs' race did not go as planned:(. It happens to all of us, unfortunately, but it's never fun when it does:(
thanks Raina, we all have those days. Not really a reason for them, right? glad your race went well! Lindsay ________________________________
Free goodies?? 🙂 I like my tea with just a little lemon and something sweet.Sorry about how the weekend went…Hoping that it will be a quick rebuild into a stronger next race!
thanks for your kind words jessie. bad days/weeks/months happen, right? And yes, we are fellow kombucha lovers. That makes me happy! Lindsay ________________________________

oooh yummo! I love iced tea with lemon!
I've been drinking Lipton's flavored teas for a while now! But haven't yet seen the watermelon one…. my mouth is watering now 🙂 Thanks for posting the links, I'm definitely going to try them out.
I LOVE tea, but I'm square and like unsweetened…I know, I know, but heaps of people in Indiana dig it sweetsy as well. I also dig Kombucha, as do you my friend.PS. So sorry that the weekend wasn't as hoped, thinking of you and your hubby and sending waves of good thoughts.
I am surrounded by sweet tea lovers out here in East TX! I never really got into it, but that Green tea sounds good in a spritzer like you said! I love carbonation;)! I love making wine spritzers in the summer!
as a texan girl with british parents, you better believe i love my sweet iced tea and hot tea in the afternoons 🙂
Im working in the office today and its soooooo hott in here….some ice cold green tea sounds awesome! haha I'm not a sweet tea fan but some iced regular tea is something I do enjoy 🙂
oh meg! maybe now is the time to explore, eh? hehe. Lindsay ________________________________
Sweet tea used to be one of my favorite things ever. When I went to college in GA my friend, who was from NC introduced it to me and I couldnt stop. I became a sweet tea addict. My gram used to make it for us when we were little, but it was a little different. Ive since kicked my sweet tea habit due to the sugar content but honestly it holds a special place in my heart=) I tried making some with black tea and some stevia and its not too bad! Curbs my cravings anyways!I think the watermelon tea would be my choice. I agree, you cant go wrong with watermelon. Esp. in the summer time!(Countdown to Austin! Im getting so excited…I need to get out of LA asap!)
I'm such a tea virgin so to speak. Growing up in MD all we had was Lipton bagged shenanigans at the grocery shop!
oh yes, you know Dickies. thats awesome!! I like unsweetened tea with lemon in the summer, but I never go out of my way to get it. I love how your family thinks!p.s.Any trips to austin soon? Lindsay ________________________________
i can relate to that. I feel like I am not a true southerner. haha. 🙂 Lindsay ________________________________
gotta love catching the skimmers. haha. And I will forsure give up a recap of the race. Hopefully the hubs will post his recap on it. More recovery needed and less stress in life. Such a hard balance, but we'll get there. Thanks for always checking in Katie.:) LC
it is very important! haha., I will email you. ________________________________
oh my gosh audrey this is too funny! you have to share some recipes that she made. I love it! Lindsay ________________________________
is your friend racing pro? maybe we know him. Hope all is well. Thanks for your encouraging words chuck! Lindsay CotterNutrition Manager & Fitness [email protected] www.cottercrunch.com ________________________________
I know that the race didn't go as planned, but what was it that happened? Glad you've made it home safely though, or are at least en route home! Wish James good luck next week at Eagle Man and hopefully he'll beat one of my good friends who is racing there ; )
hey… funny you write about sweet tea today . we just had dinner with frineds (they live part time here in victoria). she is a southern gal through and through and always cooks from her southern living recipes!! tonight we had sweet tea, chicken marinated in a sweet tea concoction and a yummy rice dish cooked with…you guessed it…sweet tea., pecans and peaches. and carrots with an orange marmalade glaze.she drinks coke all the time, even in the morning! she insists it's a southern thing! her and her hubs are good people.
Lindsay! I JUST had my FIRST KOMBUCHA! It was a GT's Cosmic Cranberry… and the taste is fine, though the smell was objectionable. 🙂 Question, however—should I be nauseated afterward? Not terribly, but just a touch like I had something that had gone off…?Hooray for Lipton and all that, but this was just *way* too important not to discuss. 😀
Sorry about the race. I'd love to hear about it when you get the chance and some distance.I got to the end of the post – I do that kind of thing in my blogs sometimes too. Stick in random lines to "catch" the skimmers. Its a little private game I like to play. 😉
I used to love all of the Snapple flavored teas in college! It was before I drank "hot" tea, so it was a good transition. But it was also before I realized what a winter/spring in Pennsylvania felt like…haha, my aversion to hot tea didn't last long. 😉 Apparently NM isn't very "southern", because Sweet tea is one thing I've never gotten used to. Just not my style!
I like my tea unsweet – but Dickies makes some good unsweet too, especially tasty in those yellow cups!At all of our family gatherings we have a pitcher of both sweet and unsweet and our family is very split on their preferences. It's like the coke pepsi debate….
Lindsay, somehow I missed your update about James' race…Now I'm worried! Is everything okay? I'll keep you both in my prayers. <3I would love to try the watermelon green tea! What a unique combination!
ya, kombucha is my first love. Hope you are all moved in!:) Lindsay ________________________________

Oh Lindsay, I'm so sorry to hear that your husbands race didn't go as wished! Just don't give up, okay? All our ways are a little stony sometimes, but also smooth at other times! The smooth times will definitely come! :)I love tea, but I'm not used to readily made bottle tea drinks, and I tend to have problems with the sugar. (This is also what makes kombucha difficult for me – I've tried it several times and liked it, but I tend to get irritable and hungry from the sugar it contains. Sniff.) Anyway anyway anyway, the watermelon green tea would be totally mine! I must try to find that one over here, but I'm afraid I can only get the regular lemon or peach flavors. *sigh*
Diet green tea with watermelon sounds really interesting!!
Hope you had a stellar trip!! enven the hubs had a less tahn desirable race…he had YOU! Much love to you Lindsay!!!
I would try MANGO!!I am so sorry about the race:( There is always another one though! xoxox
Sorry the race didn't go as planned 🙁 I definitely wanna try the Passionfruit Mango!! It looks delicious 😀
pom-bluholy yum.
ya, i know. but its only temporary. Mushy will be back next week!I wish they were sweetened with stevia, but I think its sucrolose. hmmm.. How are you friend???? Lindsay ________________________________
So sorry to hear the race didn't go as you both had hoped. I am sure there will be better days and races ahead :)I would love to try the Green Passionfruit Mango! 🙂
So you have exchanged your mushy posts for sweet ones? Hahaha. I was just trying to be clever. What is the diet flavored sweetened with if it is "all natural" I wonder…hmmm.
i wish you'd come visit TX!! that would be fun. Lindsay ________________________________

haha, same here! scary thought. I do like the simple unsweetened tea with raspberries on a hot summer day. Now thats tasty! Lindsay ________________________________
yes, you and I share that same taste! I like the plain citrus with some Pierre! Lindsay ________________________________
thanks Jen! I will definitely be updating. Everyone learns from these types of races, right? Good to share! Lindsay ________________________________
oh rachelle, you really know how to make my day 100% better. Thank you! Lindsay ________________________________
Bummer about the race, those are never fun… The tea looks delish, and I unfortunately have no idea where to find sweet tea in Washington… YET.
I LOVE sweet tea. I had never heard of it until I lived in Georgia for two years – my mom always made unsweetened iced tea (ahh to be from the North). I have broke my sweet tea habit, but once in a while it is fantastic. I would probably gravitate towards the regular tea with lemon.
Sorry about the rough race for James. I LOVE Kombucha tea….it's my go-to on bad days, when I feel "off", or want to treat myself. It's amazing, but expensive. I know in theory you can make it yourself but I think I'll pass on that, thank you!!
mmm I love Lipton Iced Tea and the watermelon flavor sounds amazing. I am sorry about the bad race. Stay strong and know that you have so many people supporting you and the hubs! You are amazing and if anyone can stay positive and push through the bad times it is definitely you!
I'm sorry the race didn't go as planned. I hope you'll update us later. And we all need a little something in the summer to sip on. I'm loving my Nuun right now because it's not sweet. I'm glad you've found your "thang"!
I'm with you on the sweetness/sugar factor. You know I love my Kombucha, too. 🙂 But I think I'd try the citrus flavor. Sounds refreshing! Hope y'all had easy travel on the way back to Austin. Let's chat again soon. Love ya, Linds!
my husbands from texas and i didnt really get what the big deal with sweet tea was until i went there… it is SWEET! and mcdonalds sell it! i thought that was crazy.
Cool, I haven't checked out their products in ages to be honest. I really hated sweet tea actually. My aunt would literally put a cup of sugar into a pitcher. Yuck.

I've always been curious about what "sweet tea" is! You can get iced tea here which is super sweet tea, ususally from a powdered form. But I know in the states if you order ice tea, it comes unsweetened!! funny how crossing the border can change something like ice tea! hehe
I lived in Texas for about 6 years growing up, and those are considered the glory days. Playing outside all day with friends, and those friendly, friendly people! I'm not a tea drinker, but I sure did love this post!
Ohh my goodness I remember sweet tea from when I was living in San Antonio. SO GOOD. I'd never had it before and it completely changed my life haha. (I love lipton iced tea! Hope I win :D)
Sweet tea is a STAPLE down here! I totally crave it every once and awhile 😉
OMG girl! I have been living in the dirrrrrry south since I was 3 years old and I have forever rebelled against the sweet tea southern sterotype… but honestly — i hear my tea…. HOT, COLD, unsweet, kombucha, and OMG WATERMELON GREEN TEA!????!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? My mind has just been blown. love ya!xoXOxoJenn @ Peas & Crayons
Wow that looks GOOD! I think I'd be all over that blueberry/pom flavor. It's so hot here now some iced tea sounds divine!
I love coupons 😉 And tea! Great review of it too, I have tried it before and it is really good, very authentic. And Lipton, such an old school brand! As for your husband's race, I'm sorry it didn't go as planned, but everything happens for a reason and I'm sure whatever happened, his next race will be better for it. XO!
Watermelon tea sounds very interesting, I'd love to try it! I love tea but as a florida girl have weened myself off the super sweet variety and now I stick with half and half or just all unsweetened!
lindsay! so sorry you guys did not have the weekend you were supposed to have………..i am not too big of a fan of teas though if i were to choose one it would be the fruity variety. hope you have a good day and know i am thinking of you…..and the hubby
i have fond memories of the sun tea my mom used to make when i was a kid. tea-bags, water, & solar power = "green" beverage (before it was trendy!)and this tea-bag would love a coupon for some tea!
Yum! I wish I grew up in TX so I could have some REAL tea! The Lipton tea sounds great thought plus it's GF–bonus!! Have a great day 🙂
