Flavor up your salmon with this Rosemary Salmon fillet, lightly sweetened with Orange Zest! It’s the perfect meal for Spring or even a Thanksgiving/Fall dish!. Great flavor combo, healthy, and paleo friendly. Ready in 10 minutes!

I know what you’re thinking.. A Salmon recipe? The Day before Thanksgiving? Shouldn’t it be turkey?

Let me explain.

If you are reading this, then you probably have all your Turkey day dishes plan. If you are reading this then you are probably Type A and have everything prepped and ready to go.

Flavor up your salmon with this Rosemary Salmon fillet, lightly sweetened with Orange Zest! It's the perfect meal for Spring or Fall. Great flavor combo, healthy, and paleo friendly. Ready in 10 minutes!

But what if you got a last minute addition to your Thanksgiving table? And what if this “addition” did not like meat. Oh I know, that would throw our Type A personalties into a bucket full of Chaos Gravy!

This is why I make a salmon along with a Turkey. Maybe just a few small pieces of salmon filets or maybe a whole fish filet. Either way, cooking a festive Thanksgiving Salmon takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. It pairs well with all the veggie sides, and it tastes great in leftover salad or a post Thanksgiving Day breakfast omelet.

So let’s be overachievers and make sure Salmon is on the menu, shall we? Oh and while we’re at it, pair it with a chopped Kale, Apple, and raisin Salad. Yep, do it!

Description

Rosemary Salmon with Orange Zest {Paleo}

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 garlic cloves
  • 1 or 2 small rosemary sprigs chopped or 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 or 2 6oz salmon filets -I’m using wild caught Coho Sizzlefish Salmon.
  • Dash of sea salt and black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Orange peel or grated Orange zest
  • Optional –> balsamic glaze
  • Olive Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°. Next chop garlic and rosemary and mix together with orange zest.
  2. Place salmon in foil or oiled baking dish. Drizzle each filet with olive oil and sprinkle with the rest of your herbs/seasoning. Including the salt and pepper. You can also drizzle a little balsamic glaze over each filet if you’d like.
  3. Place baking dish in oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the salmon flesh is flaky.
  4. You can also grill this in foil for about 10 minutes Both work!

Hi there! I really want to try this recipe for Thanksgiving – I think the orange zest give it some holiday cheer! But some of my guests don’t like rosemary. Do you think if I substitute the rosemary with basil it would still be good? Or would it lose it’s idea? Do you have any other recs on what I can use instead of the rosemary? Thanks!

Hi Maggie! Any of these herbs will work instead of the rosemary: thyme, tarragon, or oregano. Enjoy!

Question about the optional balsamic glaze – anyone tried it? I’m trying to decide if it would overpower the lovely sounding flavors of this dish or if it would add to it. My husband doesn’t eat land animals so we always have something not-so-traditional at Thanksgiving and we both thought this sounded fantastic. Love to know thoughts on the balsamic glaze – should I make some or skip it?
