Reset, Re-power, and a Fit-Kit Giveaway!

by Lindsay Cotter · 12/23/2013

Happy Monday and Christmas week! I’m ready for it. And I’m also ready for the reset to re-power. Hang on here, you’ll get what I mean in a minute.

You see, I have a week off from teaching at the gym. Yep. Now instead of cracking the whip and tackling my own runs/workouts more, I like to RESET. It’s needed (for me) in this fitness industry. If I am able to RESET my body and mind, then I am able to RE-POWER my mojo come January. January is when it get’s crazy at the gym! PACKED!

core (2)

Resetting means slowing down. It means less intense workouts, more yoga. More rest. More time outside, more time sitting down and eating meals instead of on the go. More time SHERPA-ing the KIWI, good thing I like that job. Winking smile

sweet potato

I know, I should be telling you to “squeeze in more workouts” during the Holidays or “count calories to keep ON TRACK,” but that’s not how I think you gain health. Resetting means listening to what your body needs, like my husband did a few weeks ago—> EMBRACED the off season. By resetting his mind/body he now has more power to train and prepare for the 2014 season.

HY

I’m pretty sure most people can relate to this right about now, yes? A simple Focus on the needs, not wants of your health.

Then come January, we’ll feel a little rebooted and recharged instead of like this.

gym

And speaking of Recovery and POWER, Let’ talk COREPOWER and GIVEAWAYS. You all know we love our Corepower. In fact, I hang out on the Corepower Blog quite often talking all things nutrition, recipes, etc.

corepower

Well, they have some good new to share and fun things to giveaway for the new year. First, the good news.

THEY ARE THE OFFICAL Protein Drink for the 2014 Winter Olympics! Pretty AWESOME since this company started from scratch. And yes, I knew them with they started!

5_Olympic_Bottles

A little about Core Power —> it’s is a natural milk-based high protein shake that provides strength and post-workout muscle recovery, and also makes for a healthy and great-tasting between meals snack.

  • All natural: made from real milk
  • Protein: for muscle growth
  • Carbohydrates: to provide energy
  • Electrolytes: to rehydrate
  • Fatty Acids: to improve recovery

Core Power contains the natural whey and casein proteins from milk – never removed from their original liquid state. The result is an effective and better-tasting protein drink made with simple ingredients, with more protein, calcium and vitamins – but no lactose.

And second, COREPOWER want to giveaway a FIT KIT and COREPOWER samples the NEW YEAR. You know, so you can use it after you reset and re-power.

The Fit-Kit includes an exercise ball, a gym towel, a water bottle and a gym bag (all Core Power branded).

Get Fit

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Open to US residents.

And in CASE you want A CASE yourself—> Core Power is also available online at Amazon.com (http://bit.ly/CorePowerAmazon) and will be offering a $5 off per case “New Year, New You” promotion on their Amazon store that will last the entire month of January. Sale starts January 1st, so be on the look out!

Giveaway winner will be announced in week. So in the meantime, enter in and then have a MARVELOUS week RESETTING and CELEBRATING your Holiday Break!

Cheers!

LC

p.s.

Come back later this week or next and I promise to give you a KILLER workout, but after I rest. k? Winking smile

I reset by taking time off from the gym – my husband and daughter both have birthdays in the two weeks leading up to Christmas, so between celebrating, working, school, and preparing for Christmas festivities with family, the stress of trying to carve out even more time just doesn’t seem to be worth it. Then, once our festivities have slowed down and I reclaim a bit of organization in the house, it’s back to the gym with goals 🙂 it seems to work well and I don’t lose the motivation or priority battle by trying to keep it all at full steam through one of the busiest times of the year for our family!

Hmm, just thinking about this very topic. After my horrible cold 3 weeks ago, last week I returned to my workouts. Plus moving. Christmas shopping. And, oh yeah, being a mom and a wife. Aaand…the cold made a comeback, and turned into a sinus infection. Which I canNOT get rid of! I think my body is trying to tell me something and it’s time that I listen! So this week, I’m resting, playing games with the kids and Ian, watching Christmas movies with my mom (who is also sick), baking/cooking, and re-focusing. All that to say, I love you for this post!!!! (Well, I love you anyway

This year, I am definitely reseting my resting my body as well. “Resting” for someone who is used to running all the time has been a huge mental struggle, but very much needed for my mind, as well as a fatigued body that I have been fighting for too long. Learning to rest, relax, and enjoy the holidays with people I love, running less and shorter in prep to get back after it in the new year.

And I am definitely interested in the Strawberry-Banana or the Vanilla! Never tried Core Power, so I would LOVE to win and get to test it out! Plus, I’ve been needing to get a physio ball 🙂

    Merry Christmas!

Hoping you have a wonderful time of resting and resetting this holiday season! In the New Year, I’m going to limit my added sugars for a few weeks to reset- I never like to say eliminate, but I’ll be a bit more careful then than I will be in the next week or two!

To reset, we have 2 weeks off school and PE classes. Some extra sleep and then time to be ready to come back in full-swing for 2014.

Since it is winter break it’s much easier to reset, with being home away from school, I do a lot of baking which helps me relax and take classes at the gym with my mom which i don’t do at school

I did a mini reset yesterday. No guilt, unplanned rest day. I started to really think why I was going to go for that run. In the end, it wasn’t because I was looking forward to it even. So I backed off and did absolutely nothing. It was kind of glorious 😉

I re-set by really being mindful when I’m around so much family. It doesn’t happen often so I really want to remember the stories and the laughs all year long!

Resetting for me has been pulling back and recovering from my last great adventure. I’ve been able to handle all the shopping, and really be present for the kiddos without arranging things around my own agenda. Mission accomplished.

I reset by taking a few extra minutes everyday for calming things for me (reading, painting my nails, extra long shower, etc) Just a few minutes does wonders!
