Let’s Pause here for a moment. Sit back, relax, maybe even grab a cuppa tea. That’s sounds right.
You see, I’ve only been home for about 30 minutes today. For someone who does 85% of her work from home, that’s not a lot time obviously. But I’ve had more important things to attend to today so I’m not gonna stress about the work that needs to be caught up. Nope, not worth it. Instead, I’m gonna pause and think about the good in the day. In fact, I’ve set my emails to update every 15-20 minutes (both on phone and computer) so that I won’t get distracted. It’s a great feeling I tell you! No dinging or bell sounds of messages. Just silence…..it’s golden isn’t it? (I’m assuming all the mom’s out there will agree!)I think pausing at some point in our day is a necessity. Even if it’s for 2 minutes. Let the mind just chill, it’s always in overdrive.
Yesterday I decided to pause from my normal Healthy Bite making routine to take pictures outside. My hands needed that break and my body needed that Vitamin D.
Sadie kept eyeing to see if I’d drop any.
This morning I switched up my normal Thirty Minute Thursday and again got outside. I think you’ll like the “pauses” in this little sweat fest. A good PAUSE from the gym.
Pause and Go Cardio
Find a good trail or Park with benches/curbs/etc.
-
Run easy 5 minutes (can also power walk, ride bike, etc.)
-
Do 15 jump lunges, 15 jump squats, 15 curb or bench push ups
-
Run again 5 minutes
-
Find another spot to stop and repeat the jump lunges/squats/push up
-
Run 5 minutes
-
do the above set one more time
-
Run 5 minutes
-
stop at bench or curb, etc. 10 knee to elbow plank tucks, 10 tricep dips or triceo push ups, 10 v-ups off curb/bench
-
Run 5 minutes
-
repeat the above set (plank, tricep, v-ups)
-
Run 5 minutes
-
repeat plank,tricep, v-ups
-
Run faster 3-5 minutes back to start
-
100 jumping jacks or high knees
-
1 minute plank or plank walk (elbows to hands)
DONE!
Have you paused today? If not, stop reading and go do it now!
Cheers,
LC
p.s.
For those of you who guessed the pattern yesterday, it was green and red! I think I had christmas on the brain.
wow, i feel like i haven’t paused in a week. i’m going to turn off my computer right now and relax with a book! thanks for reminding me to breathe!
i hope you did just that! now if only you could send me some of that cheesy sauce when you pause.
😉
I LOVE IT when you post workouts!! 30 MINUTES…you are crazy busy girl! I love the idea of setting your emails to only update every so often…I will be copying your idea!
its the best idea! no distracting dings for a good 15 minutes. Try it!
p.s.
Hope the long run went well!!
I feel like I haven’t paused in ages! I need to, but it’s so darn hard!
its gets harder if you don’t do it soon! well deserved my friend. You are one busy woman! any decision on GRE?
great workout! i like the idea of setting the email notifications to only come every 20 minutes. i find i’m constantly distracted with tasks by emails and then starting something new without ever fully finishing things!
have a great and pause filled weekend 🙂
oh it is such a good setting too! I will never go back. Happy thankful Friday sam!
you’re so right… i’m going to take time, pause and to just let my mind chill – or at least try to. that seems difficult right now haha.
Those healthy bites look sooo good! Have a great weekend, friend!
it is difficult, i agree. But i think thats why its important too. We need to focus on just being still sometimes, right?
haha i’m tempted to get up and start doing elbow to knee planks in my cubicle, i’ll refrain because i want to keep my job and i’m wearing a skirt haha
what happend to casual friday? you should have worn pants so you could do this!
There are just too many distractions… I gotta figure out how to schedule my emails!! Each time I see a new one I’m so tempted to look at it…!!
=)
the email trick is a lifesaver, i promise! Its so nice to have those moments of silence on our phones/computers too!
This is so perfect for me right now, Lindsay – I feel very rushed trying to get everything done before the weekend, and on such a tight schedule, but it feels SO lovely to just stop and pause…you’ve reminded me, when I needed to hear it most.
I think I might go and practice savasana for 10 minutes to RELAX like you said. And I will also breathe properly, rather than take in short, shallow breathes like I do when I’m rushing <3 Thank you, lovely!
PS: Love that you can do that workout without equipment – great for travelling! Your 30 minute workouts are awesome 😀 xyx
i definitely understand that feeling Yollie. I am sure that savasana is KEY! you need to do a VLOG yoga session for us someday.
pleasssssseeeee.
That’s a great idea! 😀 I totally will – thanks for the idea, love! <3 xyx
Ohhhh those healthy bites look SOOOOO good!
they taste as good as they look too!
I need to borrow that email trick of yours – I do NOT take enough time to pause during my day. I pride myself on being so efficient with my time that sometimes I forget that it’s totally ok to stop and think and take it all in versus go, go, GOING all the time!
i thought you’d like that email trick! hope you get to pause a lot this weekend before your race!
I took a pause yesterday. I paused to play with my kitties, and it was wonderful. 🙂
i bet they loved that. good mama! 🙂
Weee I guessed correctly! 🙂 Great workout as usual m’dear! I love that so many of these can be performed anywhere
me too. A must when you travel a lot too! happy friday friend.
Ah, I still have a couple of work to do, but then it’s definitely pausing time! 🙂
i hope you get to pause this weekend friend. You deserve some fresh air and lovely thoughts.
you rock.
I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO would love a guest post some day 🙂
sure thing! But i think you rock more and would love a gues post from you. Not that you are busy or anything. haha. Happy Friday!
My in laws took my kids yesterday for a couple of hours. For the first 20 minutes I laid on the couch in total silence…and loved every second of it. And then I made dinner, cleaned the house and felt refreshed when they came barging through the door with all their hugs and kisses 🙂
oh what a blessing. time to yourself, alone! I hope you get more soon friend.
You and me both, my friend 🙂
Love the healthy bites and the workout!
I couldn’t agree more, sometimes a little down time is all we need to make it through a hard day. 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
looks like you will get that this weekend, yea!
That workout would be perfect to do on the trials near my house. There are lots of benches and parks along the way. Today I paused for some hot chocolate and it was heavenly:)
yes, do it linds! let me know how it goes. And pausing for chocolate is a daily necessity! good call.
I always always always pause before bed. For at least a half an hour, I read, think, pray… whatever I need to do to end the day on a positive note! It especially helps on those days where I feel super stressed, rushed, or busy. Like today. Thank goodness tomorrow is friday!!
have a great weekend!!
i think that helps us stay grounded. To calm our minds. Praying definitely does that for me too Tara. <3
So weird, but I’ve had such a similar day today! I’ve been running around and not really sure where the day went. I took a pause when I sat down to eat some leftovers. It was only a few minutes, but it was necessary. Gosh I have a lot of e-mails and work to do, but trying not to think about it until after the weekend. 🙂
we are always on the se wavelength friend. cheers to the weekend!
I DID pause today! I took a 15 minute walk around my complex and it was JUST what I needed. I LOVE the idea of settting your email to only ding 15 mins or so. I get SO distracted by that too!!! Good idea.
it seriously saves my day. just 15 minutes does wonders. right? xxoo
I just paused, in fact!! Tonight’s all about the relaxing:)
That cardio workout looks kickbutt!
good for you! enjoy a relaxing night with the husband. 🙂
I must have not been paying attention yesterday to notice the red and green thing. Sorry friend!
Hopefully you can have more down time tomorrow! It’s FRIDAY! weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
yes it is friday! hope you get some good time with hubs and for YOU! by the way, email me your address so i can send you bites! YEA!!!
I try to take a few minutes and get my head out of the usual have to zone. Today I did not do that, but hopefully tomorrow there will be an opportunity. I’m glad you took a second today! The bites look amazingly delicious!
i think you’re allowed 2x as long of a pause tomorrow. I say so! Hope Tony is home this weekend too friend. xxoo
Love the healthy bites!
they are quite delicious. THanks Bee!
Your little bites are so cute! One of these days I want to hear all about your business 🙂
I took a few pauses today – a big one in between two run dates I had this a.m., and it was the perfect amount of time to relax, fuel and get ready to go again.
hope you got a nap too? or at least feet up! One day I will bring you these bites, yes in person!
yay for pausing and taking it all in. today? not so much though i have tried to control the chaos around me which has led me to a baby step on taking back my life at work…….right now i will pause and let your post soak in 🙂
i hope that chaos dies down at bit. Or at least your weekend is restful friend. Happy almost Friday!
I definitely paused earlier today….I almost kinda of sort of thought about taking a nap…but I didn’t. I just turned off all social media and sat and relaxed with Joe for a while since he’ll be out of town all weekend. It was really nice not to be aware of emails and messages coming in!
and made a simple dish too? I love that! sometimes we need to pause and catch up with REAL LIFE friends
LOL I bet she was eyeing those! Smart call on re-setting the timing of email updates. It’s hard not to immediately look when you hear a msg come through.
at first i thought it was annoying not updating automatically, but now, its a blessing!
your healthy bites look like bites of heaven ; 0 )
I am reading your post and drinking hot cocoa, and relaxing , such a good night, and so ready for the weekend!
Happy night to you love!
sounds perfect and so DIVA! hehe. <3
I hope you accidently dropped one for Sadie!!! If I was there with you, I would probably have the same look as Sadie hoping one might get dropped 😉
P.S. I have a recipe to tweak for you! I know you don’t have all your kitchen things right now but you could “tweak the recipe from writing to GF/better sugars/no yogurt/make this baby healthy” and I will bake it- tag team mission like a relay. hahaha
The Healthy Bites look GOOD!!! I am pausing to thank the Lord for the 21 years I had with my dad. I am grateful I had him in my life and I am so blessed that I knew him!!! I am thankful for the man he was, and how he brought me up(If you cant tell, I just saw Courageous tonight and LOVED IT) I am pausing to remember the good times I had with him, not the ones I wont ever have with him.
P.s. you and Hub should see Courageous if you havent 🙂
I am pausing for the first time today and holy cow does it feel good.
oh Maryea, you need more than 1 pause with that little baby to be. Hope you get an extra long pause then!
I’m pausing right now to read your lovely blog 🙂
oh sweet friend, i love that. Hows school? HOw’s the injury? Praying for you!
Those healthy bites look yummy!!! 😀
Sometimes its just awesome to kick back and relax a little bit! Great workout, by the way.
yes, well said Gen.
hehe my dog does the same thing when I’m taking pictures outside! They just have that LOOK ‘please drop, please, if it hits, the ground, it’s MINE!’
A nice little dose of Vitamin D is so energising – I NEED the stuff, if it rains for more than 1 day I start going a little loco.
The Healthy Bites look great (and tasty!) What flavours do you make? Anything in ball/bar/pattie form is so much more fun to eat 🙂
I have all kinds of healthy bites. Check out the facebook page. I’m gonna sell them at farmers markets in NZ so I will for sure bring you some!
Awesome idea! You will have to check out the Lyttleton Farmer’s Market (Lyttleton is my FAVOURITE place in the entire world) they have a fantastic little set up, very groovy people and great produce/products etc. I know a few places you could check out to sell the bites through too 🙂
