I must say, I feel at peace and at ease when I open up a semi-empty Google Reader on the weekend. Why you might ask? Well, because sometimes no news is good news.
I am assuming people are off LIVING LIFE and enjoying Fall festivities and are therefore too busy to blog, read, comment, etc. To me, that’s good news. I anticipate my Monday Reader to be jammed packed, full of good stuff from the weekend.
No news is also good news when it comes to our life right now. I don’t really have any recipe news to share since I don’t have much of my kitchen appliances right now. But that’s doesn’t mean we’re not eating well, just more crafty and convenient you might say.
Any guesses? I’ll give you a hint, everything was cooked in one pan.
I don’t have any cool race reports or running news either. Why? Because we’re healing in this house, which means light swims and strength training. Less is more right now. And that my friends is good news. Sometimes the best way to LIVE is to be still, to take care of each other, and to LOVE.
I don’t have any travel news because we are in the waiting period. Waiting to take the next step. The waiting time we have between now and mid November is good news. It means God is prepping us. How? With trust, patience, and strength.
No news is good news, but lets not forget that good news is also GREAT news!
Feel free to share your news or no news here. And yes, I am corny. But you “knew” that.
Cheers,
LC
You are so right in saying that no news is good news.
That’s why I haven’t had the chance to blog lately.. there is lots going on but the hubby and I are taking care and loving each other. Something we really need to do right now.
I always love reading your posts, Lindsay!!
amen to that! its what I like to hear. and to know that love and care comes first just makes me happy. Thanks for being open, honest, and encouraging Sabrina!
i agree with the quiet weekends. i tend to unplug myself on the weekends so i feel fairly behind on monday mornings- it’s nice when others do the same and i don’t have so much catching up to do. 🙂
my “news” is less news and more a decision point…to race or not to race in november. part of me is just ready to focus on running while part of me knows that even with missed key workouts, i’ve still put in the training time for the 70.3…perhaps it’s time to learn how to “race” without “racing”…
i think go with your what you love. And if its running at the moment, then all that 70.3 training will still pay off, just as cross traininng!
Aww, Linds! This post made me smile! What you said is SO true…no news IS good news…it’s like God is giving us a break from life for the moment. A chance to recharge our batteries! I feel like I’m having a bit of the same thing going on right now myself. I can feel things starting to brew, but I still remain in the “calm before the storm”…not necessarily a bad “storm” but I am the type of person to be go, go, go so I feel like this is my time to finally stay put and relax!
yes!! we are in the same spot. A waiting time, not a bad thing. Just need to make sure you take advantage of that time and let God do his “thang.” ya know?? Hope you get that heather!
That’s really good news! 🙂
I always take my weekday 3-a-day posts down to 1 a day on the weekend. I consider it an accomplishment to post once on a weekend day! 🙂
that is definitely an accomplishment! You are really good at time management. Rubs some of that off on me, k?
😉
You seriously crack me up. 🙂 I love your sense of humor.
My reader is always packed on Mondays too. Stuffed! It was still pretty full today but not quite as full as normal 🙂
Enjoy this little lull my friend!
i was pleasantly surprised as well. Its good people are enjoying the season. A time to restore and nuture, right?
Enjoy the downtime. You and your husband definitely deserve it. I definitely agree that “no news is good news”. I had that kind of weekend for sure. Just enjoying having downtime, not training seriously, and soaking up as much time with my family as I can.
Have a great week!
we need those not so serious weekends, they help get through the week feeling refreshed!
Weekends are family time at Casa FoodFamilyFitness, so you generally won’t read any posts from me on Saturday or Sunday. Have a great week!!!
i think that is so important too! That time needs to be focused on them. I admire that Jen.
Thank you 🙂 They are only little for a little while, it’s time to make it all count!
TOTALLY agree about the google reader thing…i always get anxious if i take the weekend off…come monday morning i worry there will be a million posts but i am always happy to see that others took the weekend off as well 😉 sometimes we just need a break…and time to enjoy ourselves. I spent lots of time with friends, my sweet pup and working away on applications! it was a busy weekend but a good one!
yes, we need those weekends to remember there is life outside blogging. Remember what it was like before? haha, its a great comunity though. WE support that time away! glad you got some pup time too!
Cute post! No news is indeed good news, most of the time! Hope you enjoyed the rest of your wknd! Miss you Linds!
<3
yes…most of the time. Any no news this weekend for you friend?
Be still. Best advice:) We’re so use to go a mile a minute, literally, that it’s OK to notice more of your surroundings. Hope you enjoyed the Ironman festivities as much as I did this weekend!
and we literally do notice more, of life, of each other! KONA watching was intense and we loved every moment.
p,s,
your comment made my day. I have missed you!
Prepping, God, and Strength – oh yeah.
In looking at the current tides of life, I’ve come to remember that in the past four years (and maybe a bit before), I’ve been surrounded by 1:1 training with TBI people.
One of the ladies I went through yoga teacher training works with wounded vets (a dog therapy and horse therapy and a lot of other therapy program). Hmm…. God’s lessons in full force ?
Sure a wounded vet isn’t the same as a cyclist hit by a car, but… they’re not too far off either.
Must give gratitude for the preparation, the strength, and the willingness to put it all together and accept the path- no matter where God guides us.
Good Luck and Hang In There! 🙂
they aren’t too far either, i agree! Wounded vet probably has the same heart.
<3
Love this post. And yes, we are all stronger than we think!
mind of matter, right? Strength so mental these days!
Oh I love your passionate, happy, faith-filled words! Just what I needed to read on a Sunday afternoon. A Sunday afternoon on a long weekend where I’ve done a whole lotta living and loving. And being present and enjoying every minute of it. I am so glad that you and the hubs are doing the same. Enjoy this time, this calm before the next “storm” in your life, but a good storm, an exciting new time for you both! So looking forward to what’s next for you two, its going to be amazing.
i love how you and the hubs get time away on weekends. Enjoy every moment is worth savoring! oh and congrats on your long run!
YOU ARE SO RIGHT….last weekend had a little bit of TOO much news for me and I am glad that this weekend is much more uneventful:) One pan meals are the best. I hope you two enjoy this waiting period together and you are right, He is prepping you:)
i’m so glad this weekend was no news for ya, well besides a nice LONG RUN. WOO!
I have no news actually, but the only news I guess I can share is that I’m really excited to have my black bean butternut squash chilli over oats tonight. I’ve been craving oats lately. Boring news! LOL
oh man, that sounds good! i think thats good news. Report back, K?
i do have some “no” news, i met J’s WHOLE family yesterday – there was NO drama, NO disappointment, and NO awkwardness. They were amazing, accepting, and I felt so at home!
here’s to a great weekend of “no”!
thats some pretty awesome NO’s! I am stoked for you!!!
You know what’s funny? I read your e-mail and the next e-mail in my inbox was this verse. Just thought I would pass it on to you : )
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
~ Romans 8:28, NLT
i needed to hear this more than you know right now Nicole. thanks you! xxoo
i would definitely agree! i always feel like no news is good news haha. same on my front too! although i’m pretttttty excited to see where you’re off to next!
yes, that is exciting! I can’t wait either.
and you mean the jets aren’t playing this weekend? that news you know you want to share! haha.
no news means I’M WATCHING KONA! 😉 hehe got all inspired yesterday and today I’m spending it in a hospital on a date with the MRI machine. 😉 and it’s been 70 here for 3 days, and nothing but clear sunny blue skies which means I’ve been outside enjoying one last weekend of shorts and jersey only riding before I need to dress like a snowman on the bike. and it’s thanksgiving weekend here too!! 😉 no news is good news!!
this has been a much needed date with an MRI. REPORT BACK ASAP!! k? oh and respond to my email or come back and reply on the site. hehe, whatever you do, don’t click reply to the response.
I have no news from this weekend, except that I have been enjoying it not having too much planned 🙂 Bike ride, apple pie baking… you know, fun stuff!
thats a golden weekend for sure! i love those two activities, and in that order! haha.
I love Sundays. Sundays are the only day that I can actually read all of the posts in my reader before breakfast. Happy weekend! I hope today’s full of fun and joy!
haha, me too! its a nice sloooooow morning. Enjoy youre steph!
I think this is beautiful. You are right. Sometimes we DO need to slow down, be peaceful, and love and take care of one another. No more. 🙂 I’m so glad you two are in a quiet and restful and “full of healling” period! My news is that I have two job interviews next week…my fingers and toes are crossed, lol! 😛 Have a beautiful day, friend. Be well and be happy! <3 xyx
rest and nourishment for the body, mind, and soul. I think I learned that from you! Good luck with the interviews! can’t wait to hear.
🙂 aaaah…really? yay! 😀 i’m so glad i could be a positive influence to you – as you are to me. Thank you so much for the kind words and well wishes, Lindsay <3 xyx
Time out, especially in this hectic, stressful world is so important to regroup and ‘ground’ oneself. It’s so good to take a break, both physically and emotionally…. Simple= good. Corny = great! Chill out time = essential 🙂
for the first time, I am happy to be in time out. haha.
Sounds wonderful Lindsay! Take this time from God and savor of every minute of “no news!”
sounds boring I know, but its a relief. Happy weekend to you friend.
OHhh my lovely you are simply wonderful. Enjoy the relaxing “break” for hardcore activity while you can! You two athletic babes deserve that!
thank you friend. We will do just that! break….
Hopefully no news is good news! How about we give me some NO news! lol I’m feeling somewhat stressed out lately and I find a lot of peace just reading this post! 🙂
stress and busyness can lead to that anxiety, i hear ya woman! I hope you can take that peace into this next week. Love you!
amen.
It has been a deluge of a Saturday and FOR ONCE I was able to truly BE STILL and know. All day has just been so …settling! His Peace.
How funny I read this today…seems we are on a similar wavelength.
PS- One pot meals? Hail yeah.
I think we are always on the same wavelength too. Crazy good! God is good and yes one pot meals…..HAIL YA GOOD!
you are so positive! it’s great 🙂 p.s. i love the last pic!
life’s too short to always be negative, am I right? Happy weekend Haley!
Well if you are corny friend than so am I!!!
Well I am really struggling with funds, but you know I am really trusting that the Lord will provide, I just dont know when so that is VERY scary! I went on a hayride last night and oh my goodness I dont think I have laughed that much in a long time. It was so healing to my heart, especially with a week of having a dear friend lose her 10 month old baby girl and going to the showing/funeral and then having another friend lose her uncle. What a week of tears and trying to find strength in our heavenly Father. O just thought of something ‘news worthy’ I have been wearing my UGLY glasses for three weeks now, and I can finally wear my contacts again!! Whoo!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Also, do you have any fun gluten free recipes I could try to make for a teenage girl? I have been baking a TON and one of the youth in the youth group is gluten free and cant eat any of the sweets I bring. Any sweet recipes you have that might interest a teenage girls heart and craving for sweets?! 🙂
i do! Want me to email you some recipes? What do they like? cakes, cookies, brownies, etc?
Score!!! Yes will you email me cookies and brownies recipes?! Thanks Lindsey!!! You ROCK!!!!
i always say being in the moment without too much drama is awesome! what a great peaceful time for you two (three with sadie!). we are watching the ironman and thinking of you two today!
yes, drama is draining! i try to stay away from it. downtime and ironman watching made our weekend!
I’m with ya, no news is good news usually means my weekend is going to be more laid back 🙂
laid back , just soakin up some down time before monday. Right?
ok that is good to know that no news is good news because we are too waiting on some very important news and have not heard anything in awhile. so we are getting nervous but like you quote said we are stronger then we think. well we try to be at least.
glad the two of your are doing well and enjoying the all the no news 😉 HUGS
oh really?! i hope it comes through soon, i know it will be good! Keep me posted!
I agree—no news is good news! Nothing going on in my neighborhood…and that’s a-ok with me 🙂
good deal! enjoy the quiet weekend friend.
You’re right, sometimes no news IS good news. I hope you enjoy your weekend, it sounds pretty great!
we finally got rain! thats some good news thats actually worth saying. haha. Glad your detour was worth the miles. 🙂
Jason says that all the time in regards to his family b/c you don’t hear from them often. But I’m with you on the weekends and blogging, I do think everyone should be out there living life rather than being tied to computers. I hope you guys are having a good weekend – enjoy it to it’s fullest!
we are laying low, watching KONA, and enjoy RAIN!! thats good to me. SO excited for your LONG run friend.
Oh my word I love this post!! You’re so right, my friend. I love seeing an empty Google reader too, life outside the computer is where it counts! 🙂
Happy Saturday!
yes, life is what DOES HAPPEN outside this little technology obsession, guilty as charged. haha.
like Lindsay (another Lindsay I love!!), I have a couple pieces of good news, but I cannot talk about it yet either. 😉
no news is good news – glad you are keeping positive when life is in active change. you inspire my patience! 🙂
well kris, I am excited for your GOOD news. I will anticipate your news and when it comes, I am sure I will be even more excited for you.
😛
Beautiful words…and yes, it is vitally important to slow down and LISTEN (something I need to get better at doing!)
I’ve got some pretty exciting news, but I can’t divulge it yet. Soon..very soon!
you know I am excited for your news!! Now that I know, haha.
Love this! Love your positiveness always! <3
I am glad you both are enjoying this time and enjoying the peace : )
Happy Saturday love!
Happy PEACEFUL saturday indeed. Its rainy here, about time too!
That’s what I love about you! I’m glad you two are taking a minute to regroup. We all need that from time to time. LIfe it busy and stressful. Taking a minute away from all of that definitely helps you heal! I hope you’re enjoying some nice weather! Atlanta is really amazing today. Hugs to you both!
Its what I love about you, your encouragement to do so and your honesty.
🙂
I’m glad things seem to be good right now!!! My bf is visiting so I’m very happy :). Question- who are you getting you ads through on your blog? I tried to sign up with blogher, but I don’t think they’re going to take me right now since they have a waiting list.
oh good. so glad youre getting some BF time. I know you missed him. And check out GLAM/BLISS. I am a publisher so thats why I have ads. Great community!
