It’s our last full day in Auckland before we pack up the old Honda again. And what did we do? Hit the trails, one last time. Yes, the hubs did a long run and I did a shorter trail run followed by some TRX core work.
The only way I get through these trails is because of the beautiful lush scenery. They are deceiving and full of stairs and hills! Wowza!
I better have a perkier butt by now, really. It’s all GLUTE work. Just see for yourself.
I think we’ve full embraced the wild kiwi hair style too. Can you tell?
I blame the massive wind gusts for this look.
And speaking of wild Kiwi….we have a winner! Random Generator picked Caroline from Journey to Half Marathon Blog. Love her! Perfect Wild Kiwi fit. Caroline, send me your size and address please.
And don’t worry, I didn’t forget…….TRX! Yes, I finally did a little video on a few core moves. Nothing special, but trust me, you will be SORE.
CORE SORE!
Well, I better get packing. We’ve got a short drive back to Tauranga, a race Saturday, then packing up again for the 12 hour drive plus 3 hour ferry ride back to Christchurch on Monday. Oh boy, this is gonna be a full weekend! Blogging will not be happening, that is unless I find a twin between now and Monday.
I’ll try to do a quick wrap up tomorrow about our time here in Auckland because let’s face it, you’re dying to know (enter sarcasm).
Cheers to sore core and a bigger booty!
LC
p.s.
The hubs will be doing another wild kiwi giveaway on his blog next week, so stay tuned!
I’ve got booty for days… lol!!! So thankful to yoga for shaping it into a hawt big ol’ booty! 🙂 Congrats to the shirt winner… I may still have to order that t-shirt I wanted… and a couple others! I ended up really liking quite a few of them! 🙂
Oh, Auckland! Your hills and wind are always a joy!
When I was in Welly last year I made the mistake of going to the Museum of Wellington City and Sea… where I read the MOST AWFUL BOOK and saw the MOST AWFUL IMAGES of the Wahine wreck… so if I weren’t already *terrified* of boats and seasickness (and some of the most intense currents squeeze between North and South Islands, dontcha know?), the Wahine sealed the deal: I love South Island, but I will ONLY EVER FLY THERE. PS: don’t go to the museum lest you become UNHINGED like I am. 😀
Happy trails! Good luck to “the knee” in the race!
great, and now i get on the ferry monday. haha. Hope we make it out….smoothe sailing.
if it helps, the Wahine was sailing from Lyttelton to Wellington, so… much more time for things to go wrong–which they did from human error (as well as a crazy-ass storm), and things are done differently now to prevent such horrors from recurring. 😀
ok phew! but I am still thinking about our ferry ride…. cross your fingers its smooth!
hi you! I am loving your videos!! That trail is amazzzing.. wow. the scenery and natural beauty you two are breathing in is amazing. I would choose to run hills any day if I could run those trails 🙂 love catching up and reading how you two are doing. safe travels! xo
oh so good to hear from you friend. My TRX buddy! i know you can appreciate a good trx core workout.
I’ve only used the TRX once. I loved it!! I was so sore. I could really use some good glute work too! I think I may get it for my parents before I move out – I’m always trying to remind them to go to the gym! They need some good equipment in the house so there are no excuses. Though knowing me, I’d take it for myself instead!!
best gift for a runner, TRX! works the core and more and you can travel to races with it. Plus stretch! tell the parents to get it for graduation!
Was just talking with friends about that at work. Sore legs, arms, or shoulders? No fun. But I love a sore core. 🙂 The countryside is so beautiful there, Linds! I’m stuck in a concrete jungle….
oh i hope you get out of the concrete jungle soon, wait…hehe…i know you will!
I do the exact same thing when I’m running hills—I envision my butt getting perkier by the second. I swear the visualization works 😉
oh and i bet it looks so nice! nice and TIGHT!
I want a trx so bad! I think it would be an awesome way for me to kick up my core work which is something that I always seem to slack on haha. Safe travels this weekend and I hope the race goes well!
Lindz, get it!! best investment ever!! A wedding present maybe?
Dang look at you go! Your booty is gonna be mad after that! I love the crazy hair. Means your relaxing!
it was mad today, but a good mad! haha.
Love the hair!
haha, well good. WILD is in style!
What a beautiful place to run. That looks like a VERY hard trail! But what views 🙂
Congrats to the winner of the wildkiwi stuff. Lucky!!
Where do you get the TRX? That looks like a great workout. Wow.
Thanks for the email from JC!!! Just what I was looking for. Please ask if I may quote him in my blog??!!
ahh yes of course! he said go for it. He wanted to write more but didn’t have time. Hope it helped. somewhat
🙂
I think your hair looks awesome! 🙂
Oh, and you know how I feel about cardio but the door-hangy thingy actually looks fun… I like THAT kind of exercise, feel the burn yeeeeeah.
hehe, you’d rock it and i have a feeling misty would too!
I’m pretty sure I know where those trails are! Cool! Hope you enjoyed your time in Auckland… good luck on the rest of your travels! 🙂

Cheers to a sore core and a bigger booty.. LOL! That made me laugh! You have a full weekend indeed! I hope you have a great trip 🙂
hehe, i know. Fun to work out that booty. You know those hills pay off somehow, eh?
that core and arm work looks crazy hard-ouch! how much are those straps?
its on sale now! you would love it kalli! its around $130 and SO SO Worth it!
Oh I am soooo happy!!!!!!
thank you so much!!!
I will email you!
I tried the TRX – by myself with no adult supervision – yeah you can guess the rest – that near face plant was just good ol fun!
Love the scenery love the shots – maybe this is why James’ hair is always so full of body – it permanently has the Kiwi wind affect – I’m sure my hair would do equally well – I’ll make sure to pack the afro pick if I visit
i think i can guess the rest. I will have to do a solo session with you when we get back. deal? oh and his hair grows twice as fast here. Its gotta be the air. Good quality i guess.
😉
ok grabbing mouth guard and helmet to get ready
Looks like the ultimate glute hills for sure!
I’ve never done TRX, but really want to now…thanks for the intro 🙂
LIsa, its the perfect at home little gym. I think they have deal now for holidays. Pretty sure you would be a huge fan!!
Thanks for the video! I’ve only done the TRX move in-line instead of side-to-side to get the obliques, and I didn’t add the pushup. I look forward to changing it up with these alterations. I must admit though, the first time I did it, they felt easy. I did a bunch of them, but then I was super sore the next day!
do the swinging planks too, and the side planks! Holy mother they are deceiving!!!
Now that’s how you do it! What a gorgeous place to get your workout in! I’ve been spying the TRX system. I have the SPRI bands with the door attachment but it just isn’t as versatile as TRX. Maybe for my b-day in July : )
Have a safe trip to the race and back to Christchurch!!
Nicole
thanks Nicole! And tell santa to come back and drop off the TRX. Its on sale! July is my bday too. I knew I loved you for a reason.
Gorgeous running environment! and you rock the TRX
i think it rocks me but in a good way, haha. Love the darn thing!
Safe travels lady!! I love your posts, they’re so beautiful!! The TRX moves look hardcore!
thanks Natalie. Hoping you get a good WEATHER weekend! <3
wow! those trails are beautiful … you think i’d fit in your suitcase so that i can tag along? 🙂
of course i can! i bet I could fit J too!
hee – you know I love when James’ hair gets big! 😉 when we were gone last month, Jason missed his scheduled haircut, and it’s nice and curly big. today is his first day back to work, and he has a haircut scheduled 🙁 boo.
those hills – definitely a glute workout!
hehe, the curly fro’s return! take a picture for me when Jason’s hair gets big. I want to see it. pleaaaasssee.
Those trails are gorgeous, and definitely look like a challenge! You guys seem to be having an amazing time despite all the travel, I need to get over there at some point!
you do you do!! I’ll hold you to it. K?
“Cheers to sore core and a bigger booty!” – LOVE THIS! glad to know that you are still having a great time there with your hubby. your blog is always refreshing to read, even though i haven’t commented in forever. you are a joy!
i’ve missed you!! How are you?! email me when you can.
Love that TRX move – it is a killer! That scenery in Aukland is gorgeous, wow! I can’t believe you get to run there, it looks like something out of a magazine. Enjoy your last day!
oh yes, i love your TRX tips too! We need to do a trx challenge sometime, eh?
Love that idea – a TRX challenge would be awesome!

YAY for a bigger booty!!
And your hair looks flippin’ fantastic in that pic. lol. Don’t blame the wind. 😉
okay i blame dry shampoo and not washing my hair for days. Gotta love it! and love you!
The gym I was going to at my parent’s house had a TRX and I never used it. I wasn’t ready to start thinking about my workout. I just wanted to get in and out and not think. Now I’m kicking myself though. I need to just buy one.
i’m kicking you from NZ. Get on it!
wow now that is one beautiful looking running trail! I bet the booty is loving it haha

Yowzers!!! At least the view is gorgeous to get you through that booty killing workout 😉
its the only thing that got me back up those hills, haha.
Man looks like a tough trail. I think those views are worth it though. And I’ve never heard of TRX but your demo was cool, it looks like you could do a lot with those.
Katie!!! You need the TRX. I am surprised Cross fit doesn’t use it yet. Its awesome, you’d be a fan for sure.
Looks like a beautiful place to run! 😀 Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!
