I’ve got a recipe and some fun things planned for tomorrow. I mean, it is going to be Friday, right? But today I’ve read too many things not to share. Which means it’s going to be a quickie post. No, get your head out of the gutter, it’s a QUICK POST.
It’s posts like these that make me a BOLDER BLOGGER> Spur of the moment Encouragement. Truth. Faith. Inspiration. Realness. No amount of followers, stats, or number of clicks can take away that.
Be Bold. Be YOU. Share.
- “Don’t chase trends. Don’t try to find the right topic. Find a strong voice, instead. Your voice. Then trust that the readers will come.
The secret behind the world’s most successful blogs, the best authors and artists we revere and respect, is this: They have a worldview.” –> Wise Words from Jeff Goins
- Stop worrying—> Competition is 1 of the 4 listed here. And I agree. Hard as it may seem, it’s not worth the fret.
- Embrace GROWTH, and not the numbers kind, the HARDSHIPS kind. Use it. Learn from it. God’s love language.
When you choose growth, you choose life. You say, “I’m not giving in or giving up.” You take back what the enemy of your heart tries to steal from you. What matters most is not that you keep going but that you keep growing. –> Source
- Keep Living First – Ouch, as hard as it may be to admit, we are too connected. Guilty. Learning to disconnected can be the best thing for your blogging. The only way I’ve kept blogging for 5 years is to stop, take breaks, and not post every day. While this works for me, it may not work for everyone. Either way, shifting focus to LIVING is key. I am still working on that every day!
What BOLD act will you embrace today? Share it!
Cheers,
LC
Gosh, this is so awesome, SO needed it! Thank you for re-sharing! I have such trouble with not getting caught up with what other bloggers/business owners are doing. I just need to embrace myself and my voice a bit more, and trust that the followers and clients will follow. You’re an inspiration for sure 🙂
i know, it can be hard no too! this is a daily reminder for me as well.
Great tips! I need to keep these in mind. It’s all too easy to find yourself comparing yourself to other bloggers and not taking time to disconnect and live your life. In fact… I’m going to go do that right now, haha!
good! glad you did! hope you have a wonderful sunday friend. <3
I love this post. I have been bold, and I have coward in comparison. I have lived and let everything develop organically, and I have felt forced and constrained. However, I think I’m returning to what I had always prided myself on believing: “It’s my blog, and I’ll do what I want.”
This PhD program has been the perfect turning point for me in many ways, but the almost forced separation from reading blogs every day has helped me remember that LIFE is where the goodness is, and the friends we make connecting through blogs aren’t only on the pages of the internet: they are REAL and so much more valuable in that context. The comparison trap that I was caught up in is hard to stay in when you’re to busy studying. 🙂
I don’t know if that makes sense, but I want to live BOLDLY again!
it makes TOTAL SENSE!! and i am so glad to hear friend. <3
Like 🙂
and i like you
Love, love love this!! I seem to ebb & flow with post frequency, and I’m okay with that. But sometimes I just need a break and don’t read anything for days at a time. That’s how I keep my balance right now. 🙂
Great advise! I am just starting my blog but will definitely keep this in mind@ Life is too good not to live it first!
yes! great focus laura and congrats on the new blog!
How is it that you always have the right words, at the right moment. Right now I am choosing growth. Not with my blog, because, it has low priority right now, but with my family. Recently, an issue has become a full blown problem. I felt it starting to crush me, and just yesterday I said to myself, “This is an opportunity for growth” You’re right, it can hurt, and it does, but I think we will come out the other side stronger. xoxo
okay, we must email! i need an update on you! hugs!
You are one incredible smart co(ookie)tter. Great message buddy.
haha you are so clever!
yes! i loooove the lessons here! living always comes first..blogging fits in somewhere down the line 😛 thank you for this! x
I so needed this today! I haven’t blogged for over a week due to busy life and just not a heck of a lot to say…so why write then?
Love the way you post- meaningful and with great lessons!
LOVE this! It is hard to get so caught up in “What do people want to read about?” that I just go through the motions instead of posting more quality filled posts. Great reminder 🙂
I used to spend so much time worrying about this: how can I get more people to my blog, how can write about what other people want, or how can I blog more? Now I realize that it doesn’t matter because my blog is for ME. That’s the point of a blog. It’s free, sometimes it has a point, often it doesn’t, and it’s who I am.
Thanks for sharing Lindsay!
and you have such a great story of inspiration to share! that’s even more valuable!
Just you wait to read my post tomorrow. I obviously stopped caring about stats and numbers and pageviews long ago, based on the content I post. 😀
I actually couldn’t even tell you how many people follow my blog or how many comments I usually get. No idea.
well no i can’t wait to read!
I love this post and love that post from Jeff Goins. Kind of seriously what I needed to read right now.
yes, we all need this. It’s easy to get caught in the MUST DO MORE trap. I think you know what i mean. But i love YOU for YOU and your genuine spirit.
LOVE THIS!! I think for me it would be not comparing myself to others and loving me FOR ME! That is something I have always struggled with and need to continue working on!
Love that first tip about not following the trends. Who has time to keep up with the trends? I have no desire to hear about what is trendy. I want to hear thoughts, to hear news, to hear hearts! That’s why I read blogs! Bit so important to stay connected to your “real” life too. My real life has been non-freaking-stop lately, so my online presence has not been consistent. But THIS is where I’m called to be now…present. (And I just remembered I owe you a text!! You’re the best!!!) love you xoxo
no rush on the text! i know you are BUSY being a mama! <3
Great post and reminder to disconnect! Luckily my kids make it hard for me not to put living first! Sometimes I wish I had more time to blog, but then I think I probabl wouldn’t enjoy it as much!
Great post!! I definitely need to focus on trying to disconnect a bit more…it’s tough, but very mentally refreshing.
Such a great post! ps. Tell James thanks for the shoutout @ Austin 70.3 last week. Hope he’s healing up well!
will do! good to hear from you beautiful lady! <3
TODAY…. TODAYYYYY… I had multiple auditions! BOOM. That’s living life right there. I didn’t check FACEBOOK until about 3pm, HOLY HOT DOG!!! ha ha ha ah aha ha ha ha ah haha!
Oh and I cannot WORRY about competition in LA, in the industry I am working in. I don’t worry about it. I don’t have any competition. BAHHHH HA HA HA HA! How’s that EGO for you?! 😉
YOU vs LA—> GIGI Wins hands down!
Blogging occasionally might make me a bolder blogger. 😉 I kid…
I actually feel stronger now after stepping back from blogging for a bit. Feeling forced is never a good place to be. I am getting ready to get going at it a little more again, but truthfully, I can’t blog everyday. I just don’t have the energy or a good amount of content daily…
you and me both woman! Love YOU!!
Great post!! The only way for me to blog and enjoy it is just to write whatever I feel. I realize that some topics/posts will not interest many or even any and that’s OK.
I haven’t taken any blogging breaks yet but I have promised myself the day it becomes a chore and not something I enjoy I will step back.
totally get that!
Love this so much. And agree wholeheartedly, as always. XOXO
For a while, I used my blog as a new way to obsess about numbers — number of followers, views, posts/week… It’s just all too much! Once I stopped worrying about stats and started writing about things that make me feel fiery and passionate, the readership DID follow. People can sense authenticity.
Great post!!
and i am so glad you did cause you freakin rock my world!
Great post! When I started blogging I definitely compared myself to other bloggers. Comparison is the thief of joy!
Amen to living first! Living to blog will quickly make you run out of things to blog about, never mind make you start resenting the whole act of blogging itself. I’ve definitely been guilty of putting off “real life” to stay connected to my online life, and it got old fast. I love the blog world, but a little absence makes the heart grow fonder.
YESSSS to LIVE life!! I swear I think people are missing out on life by being so focused on what to share!
SO love this! I definitely find that people have connected best with content that I come up with on the spot. I’ve stressed about how I word things and how people might judge me, but this encourages me to just go for it!
Keep Living first is so important! It’s so easy to get caught up, with blogging, deadlines, social media, even reading other blogs. I try to remind myself that life is so much more important than creating a blog post!
I love this post! I’m just trying to build my blog after a couple years “hiatus” and all of these are so true! It is so hard to fall into what is popular and get down on yourself for not being other bloggers. I agree be you, and take times to be present in your own life rather than social media.
welcome back! Build it up slowly and yes, be YOU. Wise words erin
Yes! And this is the formula that has worked so well for you. Keep it up!
I love it! I’ve definitely been struggling with this lately. I’m in such a good place where I feel like I’m really working to make my dreams come true but blogging is something I’m so passionate about and I don’t want that to fall to the wayside, but sometimes after spending HOURS in front of my computer, I just want to disconnect. Sometimes it’s hard to remember THAT’S OKAY!
yes, it’s more than okay. Follow those dreams!
So great, Linds!
YES to the living first! I’ve had to change up my blogging “regimen” a few different times, and I feel like I’m finally at a point where I’m able to have a healthy relationship with blogging while still enjoying LIFE! What are you supposed to blog about if you aren’t living?!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! read my every thought!
Yes, yes, yes to all of these things. Be YOU is my number one, always.
I pretty much always keep living first… haha and this is why I have a tiny blog. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!!! Blogging is NOT my family, friends, or job. It’s where I *talk* about those important things. 😉
and i’ll “listen” to you any day!
Love this! Specifically the growth aspect because it isn’t about numbers… It’s about learning more about yourself and embracing the friendships you grow from being yourself 😀
Great list, Lindsay! I struggle to “live” because I’m always connected so that is what I’m going to work on over the next few days. It’s perfect timing too since I have 4 blends coming to visit 🙂 We will all definitely still be connected but will also enjoy the time we spend with each other!
oh wish i could be there, i’d bring wine! hehe
Love the post! I think for me is being ME. The good and the bad; what works and what doesn’t especially when one is blogging about fitness and nutrition.
I’m going to say that the living first should be first! I fell into that trap big time and am so glad I let it go.
This is a great post. I agree that you need exist outside of blogging. It may be difficult but living to blog becomes very transparent quickly. Enjoy yourself outside of blogging and working out 🙂
