to decrease and then increase, as with tides; a decrease followed by an increase, as with tides.
Is this anyone else lately? The ebb and flow of life? Maybe it’s a flow that’s overflowing and then forced into an ebb. Like a Dam?
No really, think about it. Ebb and flow. Decreasing in order to increase, repetitively.
I’m trying to decrease my thoughts in order to increase my trust.
I’m trying to decrease my “busyness” in order to increase my priorities.
I’m trying to decrease my quick fixes in order to increase my long lasting solutions.
I’m trying to decrease my complexity in order to increase my simplicity.
Too profound for a Friday? Stay with me.
Ebb and Flow.. it’s a constant motion. A wave of pulling and pushing. How do we find balance? Maybe we just… go with the flow?
I think in order to “go with the flow” we must believe in ourselves, we must surround ourselves with GOOD people who know how to stay afloat, and must trust our foundation (faith, God, etc.).
Look… we’re ebbing.. and flowing… right?
This week I went through a few “ebbs” but luckily I feel as if the end of week has more of a “flow.”
A solid run week for my so called ZOOMA “training” program, a few more minutes of quiet time reading my devotional, words of encouragement from friends and the hubs……
And a little extra nourishment to ride in the tide.
Ingredients to Blend:
- ½ cucumber
- 1 cup coconut Kefir (or regular)
- 1-2 scoops Vanilla protein
- 6oz green tea
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- vanilla and or coconut extract- I use NuNaturals
- 1 cup ice
- 1 cup almond milk
- optional add-ins: kiwi fruit, spinach, berries, etc. and xanthum gum for extra thickness
I’d say this ebb and flow post sets the tone for Laura’s Strange But Good link up in a WHOLE new WAY. Haha.
What’s your ebb and flow of life right now? Any other Strange but Good recipes?
Cheers,
LC

An absolutely beautiful post AND I love love love your new banner!! What I really love most though, is how refreshing your blog is to read. Thank you for your reminder to trust our foundation in our faith. Have a great day!
thank you friend. Sometimes fresh faith is what we need at the end of a week. yes?
My mood. Constant ebb and flow of elation, fear, excitement, doubt, jealousy (hate to admit but true), and occasional peace. Just gotta ride it out and do the best we can!
you are so so right Alison. And thank God for that occasional peace.
Last week I had a lot of “ebbs” so I’m hoping for tons of flow this week 😉
New site look? It’s fresh and crisp, I dig it.
Sometimes I get ebbed and can’t flow. The hus was biking and I was running too.
Thanks for the passage – always good for my soul. Better than any horoscope.
mmm i love the idea behind a coconut cucumber smooothieeeeee – must try this when the weather gets better! i would def say my biggest ebb & flo is trying to manage everything i have going on at work!
I love the new look of the blog, Lindsay! Very appealing 🙂
Right now, still settling into life, try to ebb and flow WITH God’s plan instead of against it. Usually works out better that way 😉
Love the new blog look!!
You know I have been going through ebbs and flows. Things seem to be flowing pretty well right now though. I’m so glad your week is ending on a flow. Praying for you and miss you!
I love the new header. I would say my biggest ebb and flow right now is good time management.
I love the new look of your blog!
And that quote, oh that quote. “Worries, if indulged, develop into idols”
I have come back to that several times this week. This reminder has helped me give my troubles and worries to God. Thank you for that! I truly believed that he used you (thru instagram of all things!) to help me as a struggle through a problem that has been worrying me to much. This simple, yet powerful quote was all I needed to refocus. To ebb and flow.
Thank you.
xo
I am so trying this recipe! But, besides the recipe – beautiful post sweetheart! Your words are my fav <3
I definitely ebb and flow, but not as smoothly as the waves. It feel more like ebb, ebb, ebb and flow. That is ok! I’m sure I’ll get my flows more often eventually. Just need to be more aware of the flows perhaps!
Ebb and flow- I feel more peaceful as soon as I can picture gentle waves in an ocean!
Yay for your solid run week! And, i love your new header!
Have a super weekend, friend.
now i want to go to the ocean. Hawaii trip? yes? lets go!
the smoothie sounds amazing!! cooling and refreshing kind of 😉
I’m in the Dam right now, overflowing with “to do” lists. I’m trying to go with the flow, but honestly feel like I’m drowning… breathe. Have a wonderful weekend.
That smoothie sounds so refreshing!! Gotta try that coconut and cucumber combo!!
Lindsay, what devotional are you using? I really love the quotes you’ve been posting from it! I am definitely trying to ebb my ‘doubt’ and flow my ‘trust and faith’ this week!
Yes! It’s so easy to get caught up in things. I’d like to be less busy too!
I love this idea and sentiment my friend. It’s true – there is a an ebb and flow to life. It’s necessary in order to move forward, no? Geez, I’m ebbing a lot lately – hope that means that there’s big progress in store for me soon! haha.
BTW I see you’re doing some redecorating! 🙂
This time of the year always feels like one huge ebb for me. The cold weather and lack of time outside take a huge toll on me and I always feel a decrease in my overall mood and energy. Maybe I need to increase the flow of my coffee? Or a vacation… I could go for one of those too.
I love the new blog look!!! Ebb & flow is basically the definition of life. Seriously, what a great post my friend! You always know how to pick me up, and make me think!I definitely try to enjoy those positive moments when they happen, make the best out of things.
YES to this post! I might be where you are Lindsay!!! I LOVE FF but I feel like I may be putting too many hours into it & not enough to my life. I need to find the balance cause I love the FF group, people & just all the fun in it.
I also have the find work/money issues too so all together… I am trying to figure it out right now.
I am not religious like you but I have my own special ways.. 🙂
GREAT POST!
HUGS!
This was a big week of ‘rolling with it’ in the Sutera household. Lots of upheaval and sadness and stress and having to let go, let go, let go. It’s not been easy but together, we’ve managed. And now, we’re ‘rolling with it’ right into the weekend where hopefully we’ll get that reprieve, that chance to disconnect to reconnect that we both need. I hope you can ebb and flow your way through this weekend too my dear. love you!
Loving the new blog banner! This is such a great reminder for me. I’m constantly worried about the “whats next” instead of focussing and living in the “whats now”.
Have a great weekend!
That is one interesting smoothie.
I totally get the ebb and flow. I think right now I am in “hectic and running”.
Ebb & flow…that’s life, isn’t it? Such a thoughtful post (as usual), Lindsay. Thanks for sharing! It’s funny – I wrote a bit about ebb & flow too today on my post, but more as it concerns the fitness industry. I’m in a flow time, which can be hard when it’s super busy but I also know that it will ebb again and I’ll be slow and wishing I had more clients. 😉 Hey – have a great weekend – hope it keeps flowing! (ps – are you going to BLEND?)
i am! are you?! hope so!
FIRST – LOVEEEE the blog face lift!!!
Second – I am picking up Kefir this weekend. I’m very intrigued! All your recipes with it sound amazeballs and I need to get on that.
I agree with your thinking!
Whenever we try to push back against things or thoughts that are going on in our life because of impulse or irrationality, it always ends up a bit more turmultuous than necessary. Sometimes (*most times) it works out if we just let it happen, and then on the flow increase our output (whether it’s a physical, mental, or emotional aspect). I have learned this the hard way many times in my young years, but I think I’m finally grasping the concept – life has been a much smoother ride since!
This is so funny because I was having a conversation with a friend about this very topic: the ebbs and flows of life. She said, “Right now I am ebbing hardcore,” about something I can’t even remember now, but it made me laugh, as I’d never thought about it that way. So often we have setbacks or reductions, only to then be rewarded with an influx of forward movement. I’m not sure if I’m getting my directions right, but hopefully you know what I mean. 😉
My Strange But Good? Blueberry Mango Chili! Yummers…
Smoothie looks delish.. Cucumber and cinnamon actually sounds good together.. I may have to try just that! Happy Friday!
Love this: “I’m trying to decrease my complexity in order to increase my simplicity.” I’m going to remember that today. 🙂
i hope we all remember it. So needed, yes?
You have to believe in yourself to ebb and flow, absolutely! love that sentiment friend. And love that you are decreasing things in your life to increase your…life, and living! It is so hard to do and I need to keep working on this too. I think we just want to DO so much because we CARE so much, it’s hard to let go and realize that sometimes you can’t do it all. XOXO happy weekend!
just testing 🙂
Yumm! I need that shake in my life 🙂 Happy Friday!!
I feel like I’ve gained a lb a day since the wedding. I didn’t even try to lose weight for the wedding (and didn’t lose much), but for some reason, it’s just been an uphill battle everyday with myself. I’m trying to focus on things other than that dirty number on the scale. This smoothie concoction looks very interesting. Think I’ll try it today. 🙂 Happy Friday chick.
Maren
Your header looks so good!!!
I feel you on the ebb, man… this week. I need that smoothie – more goodness to get me through the last few hours. Thanks for linking up. Cheers to the weekend!!
It’s been a major ebb and flow few months let alone week LOL. I just try to enjoy the positives to help me overcome some of the negatives.
I love the new header!!
As always, this is so timely; I’ve spent the week fretting about time and how I never have enough of it. Apparently I just need to simmer down and relax. Thank you 🙂
Love the line decreasing complexity to increase simplicity… yes, me too!! And great header! Have a relaxing, go-with-the-flow weekend, Lindsay. 🙂
Love this! It is ALL about the ebb and flow and learning to accept and maybe even learn to LOVE and appreciate it.
And I must mention, I love the new header – beautiful!
I am loving your banner!!
beautiful post my friend. I’m glad that the flow kicked in near the end of the week for you- and now it’s TGIF! 🙂
I’m with you on the ebb and flow- it’s actually a perfect description for how my life has been going!!
Thanks for the reminder that life is a constant ebb and flow… I’m struggling with balancing anxieties about “what’s next” with a need to focus on what I have right now…
I love the idea of green tea in a smoothie–I’ll have to give that a try!
I didn’t have time to photograph, but I had a “strange but good” smoothie this morning, made with acorn squash, banana, milk, pumpkin pie spice, and maple syrup, topped with fig and molasses granola!
My body weight is definitely in an ebb and flow right now. But I am playing fully contact football right now so does the number really matter? I’m feeling great and a lot healthier. Just going with the flow.
no ashley the numbers do not mattter! take care of yourself-nourish your body and allow for slip ups and be physical. Yay for football! For me Lindsay ebbing and flowing involves not taking too much seriously-getting some good work done but also nourishing relationships along the way. xoxoxox
