If you asked me what my “blogging intention” was 5 (almost 6) years ago, it would be pretty simple. To share gluten free recipes that I make for my hungry and hard training triathlete husband. Yes, that’s how it all started. I’d get recipe requests from his fellow triathletes and friends to post them. Gosh, that was easy, and gosh my photography was horrible. Haha.
But my intention then was simple and purposeful. Has much changed since then?
No, same intentions, but they’ve just EXPANDED!
- Gluten free Recipes and Healthy Bites.
- Sherpa Wife duties and adventures
- Racing – Which includes shout outs to those who are supporting and sponsoring our DREAM!
- Fitness and other run/cycling tips (from the Kiwi)
- Encouragement, slowing down challenges, and dreaming big!
- Other “schtuff” –> this means compensated “schtuff.” My intention here is provide monetarily for my family, to supporting us. It might not be much, but every little bit helps! Which means you will probably see some sponsored posts and affiliate programs. Honesty is the best policy here, yes?
I also don’t think I’d be blogging if I wasn’t married. I truly feel like being a SHERPA wife is God’s present intention for me. It’s what I love doing and it’s what I feel called to do –> being my husband’s supporter/helper/cheerleader. And I know God is using “our story, our journey” for a reason. All we have to do is keep following it, INTENTIONALLY.
Sometimes i don’t “feel” like my blogging intentions are always that simple and purposeful, but when that happens, I just remember where it all began –> with TRUE INTENTION.
Where am I going with this?
I guess my point is plain and well… simple.
Bolder Blogging = writing with INTENTION. Whatever that may look like in your life.
in·ten·tion
noun \in-ˈten(t)-shən\
: the thing that you plan to do or achieve : an aim or purpose
Now that’s something to ponder.
Cheers,

Need some writing encouragement? Read this! Jeff Goins is pure inspiration!
I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently and it has certainly changed for me over the past few years. It’s fun to read about your focus and how it’s changed too! 🙂
Wonderful post with so much truth! Sometimes intention gets lost in the day to day, but when that happens I always remember my blogs intention is to encourage others to seek health and fitness in whatever way works for them. There is no perfect journey only your own journey!
amen! not perfect.. just genuine, right?
I’m sorry I never comment!! Ahhh, but I always read, and ALWAYS love your posts! You intentions to live and write an honest and God-honouring blog is clear, and I have always admired that about you!!
oh i love you friend! you are too kind and i hope we meet in real life some day!
I absolutely love this!!! And those pics of you and your hubby are adorable. It’s pretty amazing to sit down, realize and write about out exact intentions with blogging (and anything in life, really!), isn’t it? Sounds like your intentions are all pure and wonderful. And it’s so FUN to have a community to share your lifestyle with. Love it!!!
thank you Jordan. that means a lot and i always appreciate your support!
Yes! Purposefully! I feel like I blog less now because I’m living purposefully. My family is needing me more lately and that is my make purpose. I think blogging goes in ups and downs for me. When I’m needed here, I’m here and when I have more time for the internet then I’m there. I love everything about you!
it’s where your INTENDED to be for now. <3 it!
Mine has changed a bit, too. I agree- it’s so important to step back and think about our intentions for our blog and keep it authentic and real. Love the way yours has evolved!
love this, wise words!!
gheez our blogging intentions are still the same but have changed 🙂 we still love sharing recipes, workouts, and our life ups and downs. We always try to have each post mean something, whether it’s sharing or giving info, or just inspiration 😉
xo
I love this, Lindsay!!! You are so awesome and so inspiring both in the blog world and in life!!
I have stopped reading blogs that are only about that person’s daily life events. Not that they aren’t important, but I want to save my time for blogs with a purpose (recipes, nutrition or health information, etc.) So this is fantastic!
As always well said Lindsay! I’m in the process of redefining my intention as we speak.
Love this! Totally something I’m going to be moving towards. Intention is key. Less time, but more intention. A work in progress for me. LOVE YA!
How perfect that you posted this today. I took a couple weeks off from blogging/reading to work on LIFE, and was doing a lot of thinking about this. Why do I blog? What do I want to come out of it? Who am I writing for?
I think what it comes down to, in my writing and in my living, is that I want to tell His story as best I can.
Thanks for sharing, friend. <3
love love love this. yes, writing with intention. Sometimes it does get sticky and confusing, huh? But coming back to our intentions, to our core, makes all the difference. I couldn’t blog without intention either. xo
So cute! I definitely love that you know that you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. And obviously enjoying it and rocking at it! Keep doing what you’re doing because I love coming to read your blog every day and hearing about your adventures with the Kiwi!
My problem is that, sometimes my intentions get in the way of His intentions, if you know what I mean. The hardest part for me is continued belief in the unknown–but I would imagine this is the tough part for everyone, yes?
totally makes sense. It’s an act of letting go of Wordly intentions and embracing HIS. Such a hard balance. I’m working on that. Love you!
Great great post!! I love that life is full of all of these moments! We just have to intentionally live them! Our purpose is so much bigger than we think! 🙂 I love your writing 🙂
I love all of your Bolder Blogging posts Lindsay! So insightful and well said 😉 XOXO
It’s amazing how unintentionally our intentions change…which lead us to new-found intentions as a result. Make sense?
<3
You. Rock. Xoxo
I love this! I started writing for my 17 year old self. After my diagnosis I spent a lot of time searching for someone like me, but never did. So I hoped that maybe some how some one who needed would find my little blog and know that even though that moment was hard – that at the end of the day your diagnosis doesn’t define you and that it will get better.
wow, i love the kyrsten! i always see your intentions shining in your writing. from the heart and so FULL of life and encouragement
Great post Lindsay! I love that you’ve stuck to your intentions with such passion and honesty.
Preach it, Sherpa. And thank you for your honesty as always. Nothing grinds my gears when people try to monetize their blog sneakily by ‘forgetting’ to mention affiliates!
we never want those big man gears grinding.. no way BUDDY!
I am a newbie to your blog and now you make me wanna go stalk out your older recipes and posts!
The handful of intentional posts I have read, I have thoroughly enjoyed, it is very clear where your passions lie and making some mullah off of it is the best of both worlds!
Everyone’s intentions are different and everyone’s intentions change over time – that’s what makes us works in progress right?
thanks Shashi. That means a lot! and nice to “meet” you!
I’ve always admired your ability to stick to your true intentions and do it with so much passion. It’s easy to see that this is what you love and live for 🙂
I love when you do these posts. Man can I identify your passion to support your husband. It not always easy but always rewarding in the long run. Xoxo
I literally almost shed a tear at the last part. Who cares what your purpose is, it is FINDING your purpose that is really important. And I think it is so incredible that you feel your purpose is in supporting/loving/sherpa’ing around your husband! Life is so much about the journey, and for me, that journey isn’t nearly as fulfilling alone….which is why I always drag my husband (or a friend) to my out of town races!
love that crystal! and I wish i could come cheer you on some day!
I have a multitude of intentions in my life!!! I am sure you know some of them by now, ha ha! Did you intend on making tons and tons of friends through blogging?! Me neither and you know what? It’s probably the BEST perk about blogging!!
yes yes! agreed! p.s are you going to blend? you better!
I am a working on it!!! My manager is being a little prick-ish!! lol
I can absolutely see that your posts are written with intention! Hence the reason it’s one of my favorites! 😉 Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ girlfriend! xoxo
Ohhh then Lindsay, I’m sooo glad you’re married or we wouldn’t have gotten to know your beautiful self! 😀
And as for writing with intention–that is sooo true! Yeah, it’s fine to ramble a lot which most of us do at one point because that must be what’s inside our brains at the moment, right? But I’ve noticed that when I hone into that specific goal in my heart+mind, my posts become just a tad clearer and probably easier to read. Have a beautiful day, amiga!
Love this! And a good reminder for me to evaluate what my intention was when starting my blog and look at how it has evolved and what I want my intention to be going forward. You do such a great job of helping me “ponder” things in my life. Thank you.
I’ve just been setting out to ‘define’ my blog and realize it’s actually pretty streamlined with my ultimate professional career goals… help improve the health of people, not just through Slim Sanity, but I hope to continue to do that through my professional research as well!
i love that! and i can see that through your writing friend!
I never really thought about it like that but I completely get what you’re saying. Blogging with Intention makes a lot of sense.
What a timely post – I have spent some time the past few days reflecting on why I started blogging and then making some changes while hopefully still being true to my blogging intent!
i just read and love! new focus!
I love that you think about the intention of your blog, and why you are really writing. This is something I think we should all do in all areas of our life. Really think about what we do and what are intentions are in all areas of our life.
Great post! Thank you for sharing and so honestly!
Writing with intention is the best way to go about it. I love your mission and intention and will support it all the way!
Love this! That is why I love your blog… I think when you blog with intention it shows your passion!
I LOVE your posts, friend, you always write intentionally, from the heart and real, no hidden agenda, always transparent, and I think that is just the best. I love your words of wisdom, recipes and fit tips and tricks. you are the best 🙂
I remember back in the day and I’ve loved being able to follow you along on your journey and adventures the last 5 years! 🙂
I absolutely love the quote at the end, “this mess is part of my journey…” Sums up my life right now perfectly! I’ve stopped writing the last two months, maybe I will return to it, maybe not. Maybe I need to come up with my intentions for it.
I think most things should be done with intention. Blogging is no different. Happy Tuesday! 🙂
Great intentions! It’s so important to have them, not just in blogging but in everything you do – something I’ve been learning recently in work, relationships, everything!
Great post!!! You are teaching me to be a SHERPA wife someday 😉 Maybe that should be a new term in the dictionary created by YOU!
…thats is why I love your blog 🙂 everyone has a different purpose for the blog be is sharing recipes, their life, making money whatever it is and as long as they are true to themselves and the readers – its all great 🙂
thank you Dixya. I truly appreciate your words and support!
love the blog, love you friend!
love you! and i’m glad that you still read and comment so i can stay connected.
Intention, ahh I think that is such a great word in general!! Doesn’t it help make a lot of decisions easier. I do love how blogs evolve and looking back on them thinking hmm what was I hoping to do with that one…or why is that photo so bad?! 🙂
Love this. I think that’s why I’m in a slump lately. I have to find my intention.
Isn’t it funny to look back at our old posts and see how much the photos AND writing have changed?! 😉
But I love this, sometimes I think we need to take a moment and focus on our INTENTION and WHY we’re doing what we’re doing. I need to remember that more often.
Writing with intention is exactly why I don’t post every singe day any longer. I write when I feel that it’s important, when I have something to really share, not just writing to be posting something. Ya know?
I do love your blogging intentions! They are so helpful for so many of us, and I’m glad blogging helps you to support your family in so many ways!
A great post with great thoughts Lindsay! Me, not sure where I am headed quite honestly.. 🙂
So, well said! It’s easy to tell when someone’s blogging with intention – it shows up in their passion and authenticity while writing.
you KNOW I approve of an intentionally lived life!! 🙂
Well said, friend! I love your honestly and openness!
LOVE! you’re such a wise, wise woman, friend.
I love your intentional posts, however they play out. You always seem to write with passion and honesty, which I love. AND….you always have great things to share, whether it’s a recipe or workout, so keep it up Bold Blogger Cotter! 🙂
honestly I know no other way.
when I dont blog with intention—I cant blog.
the posts take eons and are awkward and stilted and….
Great post! Writing with intention makes for great blog posts- otherwise, you’re posts will be ‘fluff’ and your readers will know it!
