I was on my computer yesterday, trying to edit this food picture and recipe below when it hit me.
side note: this is the most unromantic delicious soup, which I will post tomorrow, a comical valentines day.
Is this my sweet spot?
After reading this devotional and multiple email conversations with some dear friends, I feel like it is… my sweet spot.
Not just food, but the art of food, the sharing of food/recipes, the giving of food, and making food with LOVE.
My sweet spot is not just blogging, but encouraging. I am NOT a writer. In fact, I hate writing (gasp!), but the process of interacting with others and lifting each other up on a daily basis fills my heart with JOY! It’s why I’m still here after 5 years of blogging.
My sweet spot is not just being a wife, but being a sherpa wife. Yes, it’s a SWEET job. It does not pay much monetarily, but oh does it have other GREAT rewards. Being part of a TEAM. Knowing that you are the support system and a key element of that DREAM!
My sweet spot is evolving. And I’m trying to find the cherry that goes on top. I’m wanting a BOLDER taste. Maybe it’s all about creating a BRAND (our brand) that can help support our dreams.
Cotter Crunch is my sweet spot. Here are my current and future toppings.
- Developing more gluten free recipes
- Business side – creating and selling more healthy bites ebooks and other gluten free ebooks
- More posts from the Kiwi –> his triathlon/running knowledge, tips, etc.
- Workouts. All kinds. But always BURPEES.
- Racing –> the travel, the strategies, the food, the vision.
- Nutrition- our nutrition. Not following a trend, but focusing on what’s working for us and sharing that.
- Corny Cotter Posts—> ALWAYS.
What other toppings (aka topics) do you want to see added?
I FULLY believe that everyone has a gift, a sweet spot. Maybe you are in it. Maybe you’re still tweaking that “taste.” Maybe you need to let go of the bitterness first… Oh wow, ponder that for a moment.
What is your sweet spot? Are you living it?
GO FOR IT!
Cheers,
LC

p.s.
I’m not sure if this is a “thinking out loud” post, but you should definitely check out Amanda’s thinking out loud series.
I think my sweet spot is trying to create healthy recipes that people don’t realize are so good for you because they taste amazing… I also think I have a lot of knowledge from 10+ years of running which I want to make more of an effort to share on my blog!
Yes! I can always tell from reading if a blogger is writing from their sweet spot too – they’re so much more passionate when they are! I think my sweet spot is writing about not dieting and mindful eating, and those always seem to be my most popular posts.
You do what you do so well. I speak from experiencing your kindness 🙂
I’m working on finding my sweet spot and being true to me. It’s turning out to be an incredible journey. A work in progress for now 🙂
you are an incredible person and friend. So thankful to share our journeys together. <3
You do the encouraging so well too! I am still trying to find my sweet spot, I think that as we go through big life changes our voice changes and I am still working on finding mine, again.
It makes me crazily happy to “hear” you discussing if you’re in your sweet spot, reading your dialogue and feeling excited for you! I think part of my sweet spot is where I am in 2 ways: motivating others in their lives and supporting Mikey (I’m a sherpa wife in other ways are really relate to you in that way!). That and living with joy – and it all is supplied by Christ.
I love this post; thanks for sharing and making me ponder a little more on what my own sweet spot looks like…
Sista! You hit the nail riiight on the head! haha. It’s so strange because I’ve been thinking about this A LOT since yesterday! Sometimes I get overwhelmed when I think about that potential “sweet spot” of mine, because I feel like God has me right where I should be even though I don’t always feel like I’m developing the sweet spot. He’s definitely teaching me to be content where I am and that everything I do isn’t about me in the end. It’s been a great and challenging several months with a baby because in a way I’m redefining my identity again and again! I know the Lord’s gifted me in many things but being so (physically) limited sometimes with a baby, it can be a little bit discouraging. But good thing He always shows me how blessed I am!
I definitely know that my gifts are to encourage others through physical help or counseling. But of course, fitness, photography, baking, those are all not-so-sweet-spots that I’m working on! haha. 😀 Love having you in my life like this, Lindsay!! Keep on truckin’~
MY DIRTY MIND IS RUNNING A MILE A MINUTE RIGHT NOW! You bring these gutter thoughts out of me!! BAH HA AH!
Hiya, I have only recently started reading your blog and I LOVE your recipes. I have recently gone gluten free and my partner was a bit panicky but every thing I have tried from your site has been a complete win. I am really looking forward to more recipes and also the racing info – as a keen runner/ cyclist/ developing swimmer I follow the training/ nutrition comments with interest. I’m not sure if its just me but nutrition stats for the recipes are always appreciated too 🙂
Oh I’m so glad Deborah! Happy to share more! And stats if I remember! Keep reminding me
So your sweet spot is being corny? 😉 I heart you and all your sweetness. I love how real you are – you are the exact same in person as you are on your blog and that is rare!
My sweet spot? Not being sweet. LOL! Kidding. I think it’s telling it like it is, being unabashedly strange, and eating a sh*tload of protein.
Bahaha yes, you’re one bad ass not sweet brotha from another motha
I too can’t believe that you don’t consider yourself a writer because you have a great way of sharing from your heart that really resonates. And your sweet spot? I love it. I was going to be upset if it didn’t include some Corny Cotter. I’ve been thinking about my sweet spot a lot lately, trying to hone in on exactly what it includes. Work in progress 🙂
I think your sweetness shines in your writing and on your mat… Oh and in hawaii
My sweet spots are changing all the time, but they’re pretty darn similar to yours and that’s why we are friends! We just need to motivate, inspire, and push each other, so we just go for it this year. XOXO
Yes! Best big dreaming buds!
I think your blog encapsulates the combination of everything we’d love to see in a blogger- a mix of everything- something I strive to be with my own blog!
The highlight? Anything CC- CornyCotter.
You already so portray that! Well done “buddy”
Love this post! Good for you girl! Trusting in God’s timing really is the success to happiness 🙂
I couldn’t agree more
((hug)) this IS your sweet spot, my friend. You are such a giver, you are such a lover, you are such a faith-filled person, and you spread that through your sweet spot, sherpa’ing, encouraging, CREATING. Always always here for you friend and cheering you on and supporting in any way possible. XOXO
Gahh I love this! I think that my sweet spot is sharing the simple joys (and frustrations) of every day life with others, because whether we like it or not, life throws a whole bunch of experiences at us. Being able to discuss them and share emotions about them with one another through the blog world is a beautiful thing!
Yes! So true Alison! And you are amazing at being real but encouraging
I think that your sweet spot is obvious in every post you share!! You are always so positive and encouraging of others – that is definitely a sweet spot!
And, YES, please, workouts with burpees!!!
And you know I will!! Burpee sweet spot!!
Can I get in on the Corny Cotter love? This really struck a nerve with me as I sit here on a daily basis trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing with my life. I so admire and look up to you. You’re such a strong, beautiful woman with a great heart and frankly, I find myself striving to be more like you. Thank you for always sharing, giving, and pushing to be a better person. Don’t ever stop.
Oh friend, you know I am always here for you. Your sweet spot it evolving and I’m so happy you share it with me
Totally working on finding my “sweet spot” and thinking out loud today too. You have some really great timing. So does the MAN upstairs. Love ya friend!
I read that devotional too, and boy it really had me thinking.
I don’t think I really know, or have pinned down a lot of my sweet spots but I am so endeared to see you do it —
Because you have SO many sweet spots and they all come together here in the Cotter Corner of the webiverse.
Hahahaha well, gods showing me. And i believe he has you right where he wants you. Healing spot… So sweet
love your sweet spot!!
our sweet spot is connecting and helping others to be happy and live healthy lives! just trying to figure out how to reach more 😉
xoxo
And you two do it so well!! Sweetness indeed
I love your posts on living Gluten Free, helpful tricks/tips. They were a go to when I first switched.
Oh, so many great thoughts in this post my friend. Especially the end… still letting go of a few things on my end to allow me to find my sweet spots. But maybe in the midst of the healing the sweet spots appear? Love you friend! xo
So glad you’ve found yours! It’s so… well… sweet, really. Still finding mine!
I think you have tiff! You’re one amazing mama
For someone who doesn’t like writing…the analogies all over this post are pretty amazing! Especially that last little paragraph!! <3
Thank you friend! That means more than you know
I LOVE your sweet spot! It’s perfect and fits you well. Hence the reason I love coming back to your blog each day.
And I love you and your sweet spot beautiful compassionate heart
Oh you know my sweet spot. I’ve written about the art of cooking, baking, and tranquillity in the making. Totally a sweet spot for me. Right now, it’s giving away my loaves (made with love) and sharing my lessons as I go along. My post tomorrow touches on a meal I made with love because it is Valentines Day after all hehe
Oh I can’t wait! I adore your sweet spot
I love this post! I love the part about focusing on your diet for what works for you! I have tried so many times following with other people do and it just doesn’t work for me. I try hard to focus on what works for my husband and I!
Love your blog so much and I can’t wait to read! 🙂
I think you do a perfectly sweet job too friend! ❤️❤️❤️
You are so in your sweet spot! You are so wonderful and encouraging and I love reading what you have to say, even if you don’t think writing is your thing. 😉
That means a lot Katie! Really, your words means the world!
Sounds like a great sweet spot! Isn’t it great what being a part of a team can do? Dream big, take big steps and dreams come true!
Amen to that! And you have been a sweet inspiration and encouragement to be to Dream big!! So thank you
One of the reasons i love your blog is because you are real, honest and you stick to what you know. It’s hard reading blogs when I can tell the writer is trying to wear a different hat than the one I originally went there for in the first place. I love that you also do try new things. I am really looking forward to continuing reading from you (and Kiwi!), keep it up… 🙂
For the record, the Corny cotter posts are some of my favorites… 🙂
Thank you Laura! What an encouragement you are!!
I would say encouragement is your GIFT and sweet spot! You are such a breath of fresh air! I love all your sweet spots… I’m still working on figuring out mine!
Being a mama, it’s more than sweet. It’s delectable
I can’t believe you don’t like writing, because my friend, you are a writer. Your words flow and create imagery and emotion. I look forward to watching your sweet spot evolve.
Thank you Debbie! What great encouragement! I’ll keep at it!
LOVE THIS!!! I really love this: In fact, I hate writing (gasp!), but the process of interacting with others and lifting each other up on a daily basis fills my heart with JOY! It’s why I’m still here after 5 years of blogging.
ME TOO – I am not a fan of writing BUT I love the interaction & sharing & helping!
My sweet spot seems to be lifting weights! 🙂 Not training but just doing my own thing.. still trying to find what is my sweet spot!
I think you’ve found it but don’t realize it. Your a huge encouragement to us, healthy and. Beautiful sweet aging
I think you totally found your sweet spot Lindsay! Your blog is one of my favorites because it’s so real and you are so real and inspirational. 🙂
I think I’m still developing my sweet spot. I’m almost at a hear of blogging, but I’m still trying to figure it all out.
You are a aster of lifting people up! You got me through a very difficult time in my life. You are the real dear LC!
I would love to see you do a Healthy Bites blogger weekend. A small congregation of bloggers, that learn how to make HB’s (live demos and hands on creating) Talk about devotionals (bible study) and a group run through hill country. There. That’s what I’d like to see from CC.
Thank you for being a sincere, loyal and wonderful friend to me. I feel so blessed to know you. xo
master
Hehe I’ll be an aster for you! Love you! Always! ❤️❤️
I love you and your sweet spot! It is what makes you so wonderful! Just saying!
But that’s what i say about you and your sweet story! It beyond amazing and life inspiring!!
I think my sweet spot is constantly evolving. I’m trying to get there. You are a huge inspiration my friend. I love your passion and conviction. xoxo
And I love you more, really!!!
This is definitely a ToL post — join the party 😀
And I really do think that you found your sweet spot. I know I never walk away from your blog without feeling inspired or encouraged, which I think is a good sign that you’re doing what God set out for you.
PS – please never ever get rid of Corny Cotter <3
I feel the same about my sweet spoon ❤️
You amaze me each and every day, with every post, all that you stand for and portray. THIS is my sweet spot. Your posts bring light to my days!
Oh friend, I feel the same. What a sweet friendship we are blessed with!
you are SO the encourager!! always have been!
Must get it from you!
We all have to work on finding our own sweet spot, don’t we? I love what you said about focusing on YOUR nutrition–not following a trend.
And I can see yours! Being an amazing mom and seeing a sweet healthy example!
Love this!! I was actually sitting down last night and thinking what are the topics that I truly want to cover, what will really help my readers…not just numbers or stats, but really what is that “sweet spot” :0)
I would love to see you talk about your sweet spot via passionate runner blog.
I never knew what my sweet spot is – wait, that’s not entirely true, I knew it is writing. But I didn’t know what or where to write. Now I have my blog – and it turned into a Passion. Recipes are just a tiny angle in the sweet spot, photgraphy, writing, inspiring and sending the message of healthy recovery takes up more space. And interacting with you guys of course.
Hmm, I actually love all your Blogs. The recipes are awesome cause they fit my diet and I love to read about your life as a Sherpa wife. So amazing.
Yes, you so have that spot!! Your story is perfectly sweet and beyond inspirational!!!!!
This post made my heart happy. We all have different “sweet spots” and sometimes, life is about investing totally in your sweet spot, both feet in, all or nothing, it won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. LOVE THIS!
Oh yes! So worth that investment too. Costly at first, but so rewarding
You my friend are such a beautiful person. I love that you do so much to help and encourage others. Be sure to do that for yourself too of course 😉 I guess my sweet spot would be trying to help others. Sometimes I do that to the point of failing myself though.
Oh how I can relate. Must be sure to encourage ourselves as well!
This is one of my favorites posts yet. Even though you don’t like writing, I always love reading what you have to say. I like topics you touch you (always filling my belly with good stuff), maybe some more marriage stuff you can add?! I enjoy reading that kinda corny stuff 😉 My sweet spot… Encouraging others to try new recipes & realize “clean eating” isn’t all that bad (reason why I post so much on IG). I believe I’m doing it.. lots of my friends have been using recipes I have passed along & are cooking more which makes me so happy.
You do that so well friend! Keep it up! I love seeing it
My sweet spot is helping others. I’m happiest and feel like my work isn’t really ‘work’ when I’m helping others achieve their goals. I’m fortunate that I get to do that on a regular basis as a teacher, and sometimes through my writing online!
I love this Erica! What a blessing you are to others!!
