No need for ice in this 5 ingredient Sparkling Frozen Fruit Smoothie Recipe! This Fizzy Frozen Fruit smoothie is the perfect summer refresher. Super healthy, easy to make, and naturally sweetened. Paleo and Vegan friendly. Just think of it as an Italian ice, slushy, and a smoothie all in one!
And it’s Friday! And it’s 100F. And I’m totally raising a glass of this oh so fizzy Sparkling Frozen Fruit Smoothie to you! Yep, cheers! We are sweatin to Summer! Okay, I actually have a confession here. The majority of my recipes this week have been ways to use leftovers from the Holiday weekend. We must use up all the BBQ fixins! Veggies, bacon (you know you had some on that burger), and FRUIT! That’s not a bad thing, right? Because I’m thrifty and frugal and WILL NOT waste food. You know this. Remember the potato skin fries? Anyway, we’re stickin with that theme again today. Mmm k?
If you are like me, you have a TON of watermelon, berries, and all those sparkling water or drinks leftover from this past weekend. Come on ya’ll, those are staples at summer BBQs. But all you need for this smoothie is just 5 simple ingredients. And here’s whatcha gonna do with them.
First… freeze your watermelon and any other fruit you have leftover. Do it before it goes sour or gets mushy. Mushy watermelon is like the worst thing ever. Well, you know what i mean. It’s just plain yuck. And besides, frozen fruit makes the best frozen fruit smoothie for ANYTIME of year, so stocking your fridge full of it can come in handy.
Next, those sparkling waters or natural fizzy flavored drinks (i.e LaCriox, Perrier with lime, Bai Bubbles, etc.), hide those from your kids or spouses. Stick them way back in the fridge so no one can see them. Trust me, you’ll want to save as many as you can for this smoothie.
Now, we take our frozen fruit (watermelon, berries, etc.), we blend it with a little coconut cream, coconut yogurt, or even kefir yogurt if you’d like, and then add in our fizz! I mean sparkling bubbles! Haha.
We blend again. Then pour.
Oh and add more sparkling goodness to each glass after, just for kicks and to make it an EXTRA Fizzy Frozen Fruit smoothie.
Can we HIGH FIVE for the Summer’s BEST 5 Ingredient smoothies? Yes, yes we can!
Goodness, that fizz! It’s like a sip of summer delight! But did you see what I did there? I just made you a combo of Italian cream soda and fruit slushy combined. In summer smoothie form. Can that happen? Well, it just did and it’s so easy to whip up in a blender! A combo smoothie made with vitamin C packed frozen fruit, and best of all, it’s ice cold!
I wasn’t going to mention this but here goes…. another confession for you. Or maybe this is me justifying my tastebuds.
I don’t usually eat fresh watermelon. GASP! I know. Just not a huge fan. I love watermelon flavors, watermelon drinks, and watermelon in salads. But by itself? Nope. Not a favorite.
But when you freeze watermelon, then make it the “ice” of a smoothie, it’s pretty fantastic. In fact, it acts a natural sweetener and packs this frozen fruit smoothie with even more hydration! Watermelon is 92% water. That’s crazy awesome! And..um, did I mention it’s 100F out? We need all the hydration we can get. I sweat going to car or taking out the trash. Not lying.
Wish me luck this weekend I plan on tackling yard work, washing my car, and trying VERY hard not to complain about the heat. Austin is perfect 9 months out of the year. We can bear a little heat for 3 months. That is as long as I have a pool to jump in occasionally and smoothie in hand. Heck, let’s just make it a spiked smoothie at this point.
What’s your go to drink for a hot day? Whatcha doing with your holiday leftovers? Did you make a recipe with them? Share the leftover love!

This is really yummy. Remember to use the correct amount of frozen fruit though, or it will be too liquidy, or too thick.
★★★★★
Oh yes! Did you try it? Was it too liquidy?
Good golly it’s HOT here too! I’m SO unmotivated to go out now because of the heat, haha! At the very least, I can make this delicious fruit smoothie!
Totally! best way to “chill” ah ha!
I love the idea of adding sparkling water to a smoothie almost as much as I love watermelon. Looks so refreshing.
haha and I love YOU!
And I love you! Haha
Woah, making watermelon the ‘ice’ of the smoothie is a good idea, and smoothies are a wonderful idea for those 100 degree days!
I’m kind of obsessed!
Totally craving this now! You seriously make the best drink recipes. Going to have to try to freeze watermelon now since it sounds amazing in this heat!

Sparkling water and smoothies what a great idea. This one looks so good. Watermelon is the perfect summer fruit.
This sparkling smoothie is so genius, I can forgive you for your lack of fresh watermelon snackage! Delish!
I am completely addicted to sparkling water! I love the idea of adding it to smoothies.
I love frozen watermelon in smoothies! We had a ridiculous amount of grilled chicken thighs leftover from our cookout and we’ve been using them for lunches AND dinners this week.. burrito bowls, teriyaki chicken, buffalo chicken bowls, you name it! I can’t waste leftovers either haha.
This is right up my alley considering I have a minor obsession with both smoothies and seltzer water — I’ve just never thought to combine the two! I’ll be trying this soon!
you and I have same taste buds. Which is why i love you so!Well, one of the reasons
I’m not a huge fan of plain watermelon, either, but I’ve never frozen it. I love that idea, though! It’s a fun ice cube substitute 🙂 This smoothie sounds so refreshing. Good luck with those outside chores!
ahh yea! we are twins! love it.
Haha, that’s funny, because I only love FRESH watermelon, but watermelon flavored things…like gum or candy…AHHH NO!
And #FrugalLife!!!!
Alright this sounds sooooo good! I have frozen watermelon, but not in a long long time. The last one I bought was finished off fresh! 🙂 And seriously, good luck with those chores today. I won’t be going outside much after my morning walk!
Texas heat is brutal with that humidity. When I lived there, the summers were rough! I’ve been drinking mostly wine but I could get down with this with a little vodka.
I think you definitely deserve an extra shot of vodka in this! LOL!
Love it. It is like a smoothie spritzer! Now to add wine to it 😀
You’re a genius.
morning as in before 5am when it gots to like 1000% humidity. LOL!
you read my mind!
I have all of these ingredients! Popping watermelon in the freezer NOW so I can enjoy this later today. YUM!
