  1. Haha! Too funny :)
Glad y’all made it back safely!

  2. I love the Kiwi accent. Are you a Flight of the Conchords fan? I think their accents were half the reason I loved the show…

  3. Wow – what a day! I can’t believe you still woke up so early! Love hearing your friends/family talk…great accents and I just love that scene around the kitchen table. :) Sleep well tonight (whenever tonight is for you)! πŸ˜‰

  4. should I be concerned that I understood that conversation the first time?? it sounds a bit like British accent :) love it! such a nice accent, much nicer than mine!

  5. i wish i had some mindless entertainment today! instead it was filled with class and work! :( boo! i think i’ll go read some silly chick lit before bed, just to turn the brain off!

  6. argh…. horrible accent – I don’t sound like that do I!?!?!

  7. Well I am a fan of accents!
    I know shocker right?!!!
After 12 yrs with my husband I STILL have to repeat myself almost every day…! One of my good friend here is Scotish and we are told that nobody can understand us when we talk to each other and our accents cross!!!

  8. Well shoot, I hope you get some rest Lindsay. And I can’t tell what they’re talking about at all. I would definitely be doing a lot of smiling and nodding. ha ha ha!

  9. hahaha I loved that clip. when i first moved to australia i had such a hard time understanding everyone. The thick twang really made everything sound so different….funny thing is now I’ve got a bit of one! My mindless entertainment is going to be watching the real housewives!

  10. Glad you made it back safely! I love hearing different accents. It’s amazing how the same language can sound so different all over the world. You should introduce us to some Australian sayings on your blog!

  11. Hahhaa love it :) There are a few pins on Pinterest that made me laugh today… I have a “smile and laughs” board that will get me out of a bad mood whenever I go and look at it!

  12. Ouch long day my friend. At least you made it back safely. Too funny on the accents. Coming from the south too where people tend to draw out everything!

  13. haha this makes me miss australia. i remember when i first got there i just stared at people like “huh”? was that english?!

  14. Glad you got there safe!!!

    Happy Tuesday love! <3

  15. gorgeous pics! but long day!! I can relate…got up at 6 am ET and went to bed at 2 am ET (after landing in Cali uber late and then couldn’t sleep…up at 4:30 am PT). good times πŸ˜‰

  16. haha! I know exactly what you mean about the accent thing! I moved to Scotland from Norway what I was 14 and thought to myself, “at least they speak English and I won’t need to learn another foreign language” (I’m originally from Texas). Little did i know how many times I would repeat the phrase “excuse me?” while living there :)

    • oh my, scotish or irish is SO HARD to understand. Definitely a whole new language, haha. And you are from TX? where?

      • I have found myself in Houston for the past three years. I think i read you moved from Austin to NZ? My brother-in-law lives there and we take any opportunity we can to visit. Austin is one of my favorite Texas cities :)

  17. Your body is incapable of sleeping in. (hugs) Teehee…

My mom’s side of the family is from Peru, and I cannot understand a WORD they say because they speak so darn fast. I don’t think I could speak that fast in English!! Craziness.

    Rest up lady :)

  18. glad you had safe travels!
my mindless entertainment…yikes i hate to admit to it..but…
reruns of: king of queens or friends or sex in the city…YIKES!!!

  19. Haha…that was not English. No way, no how. And here I was all jealous that you are soaking up the sun in New Zealand, now that I know I would be totally left out of every conversation (I’m TERRIBLE w/ accents) I feel a little better about being in the midwest! πŸ˜‰

  20. Too funny! I would definitely be asking them to repeat stuff too! I am so bad at understanding accents…I don’t know why!!

  21. Hah, there were about 5 words in there that I could distinguish… πŸ˜‰

    Welcome back to CC!

  22. I did not understand one word they said. πŸ˜‰ So glad to hear you made it home safely. Get some rest my friend!

  23. I love those accents! They get me every time, even if I can’t understand them :)

  24. Haha! Just bc they speak english doesn’t mean we understand:)

I like this kind of entertainment. Glad you traveled safely, L!

  25. The accent is great! It must be good for one’s brain to have to concentrate on understanding/interpreting, right? It’s always funny how different accents and languages make the people sounds like they are talking super fast—I know we sounds that way to them too!

  26. hehe, fun! i’d have one heck of a time πŸ˜‰

  27. I kept turning up the volume so I could “hear” it. Didn’t help! I think I’d be hopeless!

  28. Oooo yay!! I love the accents, even if I can’t understand them! I love the way they say “yeh.” I hope you were able to get some sleep, sweet friend!

  29. Oh wow! I would ask everyone to repeat themselves like 10x haha!!

  30. Phew, what a trip! 😯

  31. it was so hard to understand! but fun :) glad you are safe and sound!

  32. Just nod and smile : ) I have found the Australian accent to be just as entertaining! And they think we have an accent…

Glad you’re back safe and sound, albeit a little tired.

  33. man I wished I had an accent…just love it!

  34. Ha as a Kiwi- when I was in the US, all I could think when people spoke to me was that they spoke so slowly, it killed me ! I wanted to snap my fingers and tell them to spit it out already! In the nicest way possible : )

I’ve done a lot of travelling so I understand most accents, but my NZ friends have had major issues with Northern Ireland (much thicker than Republic of Ireland) and Highland Scottish accents.

  35. Oh, I glad you two made it back safely! And so the adventure continues…

  36. I love the accents!! I’ve always wanted an accent. Well, I guess I have one, but I mean I’ve always wanted to have someone tell me I have a cool accent. Do you ever get that down there?

  37. Love that accent, I really have to listen hard to understand anything though. πŸ˜‰

  38. I love listening to Kiwi English! Keep the sneaky videos coming! πŸ˜‰ Maybe the more I listen to, the more I’ll understand? The only part I picked up was “Did she?” at the end. Hehe.

I hope you were able to get some good rest last night! xoxo

  39. those pictures are beautiful. but the real reason im commenting is that I just saw this about Kate’s birthday and she got Vegemite as a gift. made me think of you!

  40. Oh goodness,
Is it wrong of me to hope that some of that seeps in and combines with the Texas in you to create what may be the best accent EVER?

  41. Ha, love it! How did you get to the point where you’re bad at sleeping in? Is this something you were born with, or can one train for that kind of thing?!

I am a chronic morning hater, in case those questions didn’t tip you off already πŸ˜‰
