Yes Whey and Healthy Bites Recipe

by LCCotter on March 20, 2013

In less than 24hrs I will be on a plane to Kona. To say that I am excited is an understatement. I am ECSTATIC! I get to see my husband, I get to watch him race (Sherpa), and I get to see all our old friends from when we lived there. It’s a short trip but SO NEEDED. I am sad that I don’t get to race ZOOMA on Saturday but to be honest, I am beyond exhausted. It’s probably best I didn’t. That happens when your career is also your passion, yes? Too much of a good thing can sometimes be a bad thing… like hummus. LOL! Winking smile

Anyway, I’ve finished the last bit of Healthy Bites orders until I return and just had to share my VERY OWN custom flavor. That’s right. I had Hawaii on the brain so I made myself a few custom order Healthy Bites with my Designer Whey Goodie Package. I’ll get to recipe in a  minute, but first let me tell you a little about Designer Whey.

IMG_20130313_150614

I received this package last week and was excited to try out all the products!

  • 6 Protein Bars (2 of each flavor- chocolate, pb, caramel)
  • Protein 2 Go (Tropical, Berry, Lemonade)
  • 2 100% Whey Powders (vanilla and white chocolate)
  • 2 Protein drinks to go (chocolate and Vanilla)

I already use the Vanilla Whey in a few Healthy Bites recipes so I knew I’d be a fan of the White Chocolate, and yes, yes I was! In fact I made a few clients some White Chocolate Raspberry Cookie Dough bites with it.

I like this whey powder because it’s very pure. Sweetened with stevia, gluten free, MSG free, and lactose free. Plus it tastes great and mixes well. Quality!

powder

The premade to-go shakes were quite tasty too. 100 Calories and 18 grams of protein. I added mine to an iced coffee for a protein packed latte. My only concern in this drink is the sucralose. My stomach does not handle these types of sugars very well. That’s why I only drank half at a time.

to go whey

The protein 2Go is very similar to the powder. Again, no artificial sweeteners (made with stevia), no gluten, 100% whey, which I LOVE! The packets are 50 calories, extra vitamins, and 10 grams of protein. Perfect to add to water, milk, yogurt, etc. for a quick protein boost.

As for the bars, of course they are tasty. A great texture with a little crunch. No artificial sugars, just real honey and sugar. 10 grams of protein and under 200 calories. The bars are made with a blend of whey and soy protein (100% isolate). I prefer to use soy protein in moderation ONLY because I have slight soy intolerance.  My husband, on the other hand, doesn’t have any intolerances, so of course and HE LOVED hogging these!

And just because I am nerdy and love food history, here’s a chart of how WHEY started. I love that Designer Whey put this on their site.

Alight, now that you know EVERYTHING about Designer Whey, I’ll share my Healthy Bites recipe. Please let me know if you try it!

Trust me when I say It is WHEY GOOD! Winking smile

Oh and for those of you who are wondering what the heck Pumpkin seed Powder is, it looks like this. I bought it off of nuts.com.

Disclaimer: I received Designer Whey products as a FitFluential Ambassador in exchange for a review, but the opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

Okay, I must go pack and get my spray tan ready! Not sure when or if I will post, but you will get a race update at some point. ALOHA!

Are you making tropical treats yet?

I HAVE been totally craving fruits/tropical treats. I’ve been eating papaya and mangoes like crazy. And I had a very intense smoothie craving today. I just wanted fruit no protein powder nonsense – it was pineapple, mango, banana, blueberry, coconut water, and vanilla.

we need to try whey, it has been years since we have had it!!! we admit we are a little nervous about trying it, as we are unsure of how our bodies would handle it.
tropical healthy bites look fantastic, wish we could grab it off the screen!!

safe travels friend! HUGS

the really clean whey is good on my stomach. Lactose free. sometimes better than the vegan ones! but i mix it up now. Vega, life basics, and this whey are my favorites.
