A Texas Fall Forecast (WIAW)

by LCCotter on September 5, 2012

Well, I think it’s gonna be one of those weeks. A three poster. I was so pumped I managed 4 posts last week and thought I could pull it off again this week. Nope. Not gonna happen. I take way too long to write and I just don’t have the time to stress over posting daily. So, three posts it is. Deal?
Lucky for me I have WIAW to go off of today. I like to mooch on others ideas, can you tell? jk. Winking smile
But really, this  month’s theme for WIAW is a good one. FALL-ish you might say. Are you ready to be overloaded with pumpkin and squash recipes?

Oh Jen, you rock! Now,  if only Texas could get some of that Fall weather soon. It’s 100F here all week. Goodness, that’s just wrong.
I am gonna do my dardnest to practice FALL recipes and FALL into good habits.
Here goes….
Fall in Texas means you break out the rice cooker, pour anything in it, and call it “breakfast.” Why? Because it’s a hot meal and it just feels cozy without making you sweat over the stove.
Blueberry Coconut Quinoa
Eggs and honey Oats (GF)
Fall in Texas means I still eat salads. Heck, it’s still 98F outside. I even eat it with cold GF pasta and peas. Or I’ll throw in a corn tortilla with a little sour cream.
Fall in Texas means I can finally sit outside without sweating buckets. It means my favorite drinks are enjoyed al fresco.
Fall in Texas means we can go hiking at 9am and not die of a heat stroke. That’s some goodness. Cause less face it, 5am hiking in the dark is just silly. Cooler, but silly. Winking smile
Fall in Texas means perfect training weather. Yep, 70F’s is perfect for fall here. And guess who is starting to train again this next month??
That would be the FRO-Master himself. The WILD (and manly) Kiwi Cotter.

I think hibernation from training has caused excess hair growth for the hubs, yes? LOL. Or maybe I’ve fed him too much protein?

Ha-ha, anyway. His knee is doing well. Fall will be his time to test it out again. Starting slow, easing in, taking it one day at a time.

Yep, we’re hopeful. We’re hopeful that FALL will be good to us. We’ve practiced good habits (rest and strength training), and are hopeful that it pays off.

So cheers to Fall! To a new season, to new gained …. STRENGTH!

Please tell me you have cooler weather where you are? If so, can we come visit?

LC

p.s.

I’ve had a September challenge ready to post for weeks but have yet to reveal it. Maybe i’m afraid i’ll fail at it. Either way, i know i need to say and do it! Soon! Please remind me.

I’m not looking forward to Denver winter, but being able to run midmorning without dying is a plus. Your dog’s face reminds me so much of Pippa!!

I need your nurturing spirit and inspirational outlook on life in person. :) Now i better go dust off my rice cooker. I didn’t know you could make all that goodness in there. HUGS!!!

We have cooler weather in Boise (80-90′s) but we have had wild fires in the area which has made it unpleasant. I am curious about the Sept challenge.

So funny because I would really like some warmer weather! It’s just been getting more humid and kind of cool in Boston but I want the sun to come back! We always want what we don’t have I guess!
