Freshpedition

So you might say we travel a lot, right? I’d agree. I love it. I love being a nomad, for now at least. Winking smile

IMG_20120730_084140

But one of the hardest things about traveling is food. I try to pack as many fresh foods as possible. Luckily now a days, there are “fresh” options everywhere, even at new stands and gas stations!

IMG_20120717_195331 IMG_20120729_192145 IMG_20120727_193346

Let’s see. What did I pack/eat/buy while road trippin’ this past weekend? Here’s a list.

  • Carrots
  • fruit cup
  • salad in a cup
  • trail mix
  • turkey jerky
  • cheese
  • protein powder mix
  • plantain chips
  • lara bars and uber bars

Not too shabby for travel food eh?

But what if we had the tools/appliances to keep things fresh ALL the time? It would make things so much easier in terms of eating healthy, right?

Check out the FRESHPEDITION.

GE

These guys are on a mission to Keep Farm Food Fresh. Now that is something I can support!

A Chef and GE engineer stocked up a GE refrigerator with fresh foods, hooked it up to a generator, stuck it on the back of a truck, and drove 2,000 miles on the road just to make a point. Farm Fresh Food COULD an SHOULD last!

GE is continuing this same passion for fresh food with the Freshpedition Sweepstakes. This sweepstakes uses Pinterest, which means you can actually pin for a chance to win all new GE kitchen appliances.

You can also enter each day of the sweepstakes for a chance to win a $100 VISA® Prepaid Card. Entering for this prize is fun as you’re asked to pin your favorite fresh foods or your own recipes. Also, these pins when hashtagged with your state (e.g. #GEfreshTX) become part of a “Best of Fresh” map featuring freshness from around the country. Explore the map here: http://www.freshpedition.com/sweepstakes/fresh-map.htm

For official rules and to enter visit here: http://www.freshpedition.com/sweepstakes/

I just adore this campaign! I am pretty sure most everyone will too! Watch the video, laugh at all they encounter, and check out the fantastic sweepstakes where you can win a GE kitchen appliance. I’ll post more later as details unfold, but just know, it’s totally worth it!

What’s the longest your food has stayed fresh while traveling?

I think I might take their idea and travel across the nation with Healthy Bites. Sound good?

Where to first?

Cheers!

Finding fresh food on the road IS hard! But Healthy Bites sure are a good solution :-) This looks like such a fun campaign but here in NYC, there’s actually a farm truck that grows stuff in the flatbed of a pick-up. It’s pretty cool.

I think Healthy Bites would be perfect for troops. I know my husband, who has Celiac, would gobble them up and so many troops are into heath and fitness. The one thing I hear them complain about is food out in the field. Just a thought.

Ha- I love what opposites the guys are. It’ll make for an interesting week! It’s even hard to take/keep fresh food for a long weekend camping trip!
When you go on a Healthy Bites tour, be sure to pop into Canada! We’ll take you to the mountains to make it worth your trip!

I’m sitting in an airport right now in fact and just finished eating a breakfast I packed for myself… a veggie omelet eating straight out of a tin foil wrap, no utensils, a banana, and a tupperware of almond butter. Not too shabby for an airport breakfast either!

I can’t wait to watch that episode, sounds like fun. I’m about to do a lot of travelling myself and I’m curious to know how you pack your protein? Do you simply use single serving sizes or do you take a tub with you?
I’m SO excited about Amanda’s eat clean challenge. It’s something I really get behind and I’m so motivated to do for myself.
Also, your healthy bites look amazing and I want to order some soon! What’s your favorite?

A Healthy Bites road tour sounds like a pretty fab idea to me! First stop: Washington, DC? ;-)

The GE Freshpedition is such a great idea! I actually just popped over to Pinterest to check out the hashtags by state. It looks like DC (and Idaho) need a little help! I’ll see what I can do. ;)

When I travel, I always pack perishable items like fruits and veggies, which usually stay fresh for a couple of days. I rarely throw anything out because I’m a produce-eating machine. :) However, I also pack hard boiled eggs, and if I don’t have access to a fridge, they sadly don’t keep more than a day!

Huge hugs from the potato state! xoxo <3

I love this campaign! I am a HUGE proponent of packing healthy snacks with you on trips. There is no reason you can’t eat well and fresh and stay healthy in an airport, or a car, or on a train…or whatever. I swear, with a smile and some ingenuity, it’s really not THAT hard to get some good eats through TSA.
