Happy Friday Friends! Hopefully by now I am on a plane, jetting off for the weekend. Yep, a birthday weekend getaway, stand by that is. Should be good fun thanks to this girl!
But before I go, I have to talk about something, something near and dear to my heart. You see, as pro triathlete’s wife, I still worry about my husband’s safety during his training. I worry about him on long rides, without a phone, and getting stuck/injured/etc. I think it comes with the territory, right?
Well, all that worrying doesn’t have to happen if we invest in the right tools. We recently signed up with ICEdot. What’s icedot?
It’s the perfect accessory for ANY athlete.
Yep, an emergency notification system designed for ANY and EVERY type of athlete.
But what I also love about ICEdot is the community. Such a great support group. Fellow athlete’s can blog and talk not only about safety, but hydration tips, new routes, race day strategies, and more.
I cannot tell you how much I love ICEdot, especially when the hubs is out training. It gives me a peace of mind knowing that he’s training as safe as possible.
Icedot wants to share their unique safety accessories with others. They’ve graciously offered a free ICEdot wrist band and profile registration to one reader.

Tell me how you practice safe training. Do you run with a buddy, ID, etc.?
Contest will run through next Wednesday, Aug 1st.
As much as we love to train hard, explore, and spice up our training routine… SAFETY COMES FIRST!!! Be prepared, train smart, BE KNOWN!
Cheers and Safe training,
LC

Is the getaway for your birthday or the other Lindsay? Have fun!
I’ve never heard of ICEdot but it seems brilliant- thanks for sharing!
I’m always nervous when my husband bikes by himself, and I know he worries about me when I bike or run trails alone.
I always have a Road ID on and take my phone when I bike. When I run, I usually tell him what route I’m taking.
I really like the pink watchband bracelet- that pop of colour is irresistable!
I love that their sponsored athletes aren’t pros!

This is so cool! I actually use RoadID and have for years. I like to run in crazy weather conditions, so my mom got me one for my birthday several years ago. It’s got a pouch for keys and additional stuff (credit cards, ID, etc. if I’m running errands).
I love the snaps. I’d need the kit so I could put it on my running shoes and my vibrams. I don’t wear bracelets or anything else when running — too much stuff on my body annoys me!

i try to remember to wear my road id when i am out and about – i sometimes carry my phone with me on my runs as well! i am loving the ICE sticker pack – great idea to put one on your sneakers or your bike. great giveaway LC!
The snap would be perfect for a day pack. I like the idea of the band for my young son. Would give a bit of peace of mind. The blog seems to have a wealth of great tips, ideas, and general knowledge. I don’t currently use anything safety related while training but your blog has placed me in the state of mind to change that.
This is a great giveaway. I have yet to get a RoadID or anything like that. I like the mesh bracelets – but wonder how well they’d feel running…

I try to run with hubby when I can, but when I run alone I carry my ID. If it’s dark, I wear a reflective band and flashing light.

I love the weather proof ICE dot bracelet and could use one. The dog collar that says “If lost on his bike, please return to my wife” has worn out.
I really like the bracelet topper, as this allows you to wear it with any sports band, and the stickers are nice; especially as my daughter gets closer and closer to driving age. I’m a worry wort.
I’ve been following ICE on facebook for quite sometime and they have introduced me to a wealth of athlete blogs, like their own, and I have enjoyed finding all the new blogs to read out there. I’m kind of addicted to Google Reader…LOL…
I’ve been researching these types of products for my runs. As they keep getting longer, the need for this type of safety product grows more and more important as a part of my kit.
I really like the yellow mesh bracelet! Definitely demands attention! I checked them out on Facebook and Twitter and followed them both places!
Oh, and I ALWAYS run with some form of ID. And when I can, I run with a friend. Running buddies are the best. I love mine!
Have a wonderful weekend Lindsay!! And I agree, this is a great thing to have ,especially for those long training runs etc. What a great idea!

Safety is so important! I usually run and bike with my phone, road ID and when I can a friend.
I’m lucky enough to have a running buddy, but some sort of road ID would really be useful–you never know, better safe than sorry!
Happy Birthday my friend! Enjoy your weekend vacay!

Oh this would be so good for my boyfriend and I! As he is an avid cyclist, he is often gone for hours, while I on the other hand am out on my runs (or what have you!)! This would be a great away to ensure we are both safe no matter where our training takes us!
I love the band and the snap pack! Simple yet so important!
Thanks for sharing

The standard band seems perfect but the pink one is really cute. The blog is cool, it’s nice that they seem to update often.
For safe training I always have my husband’s phone number attached to my shoe.
Hi Lindsay,
I guess Happy birthday would be in order. I love this hand band, really useful stuff and pretty as well. I will make sure to spread the word to everyone that I know.

i did!! wish you were here! Hugs!
I bought this for a friend for her birthday. I didn’t end up seeing her and it’s still sitting on my bookshelf. Perhaps I should keep it for myself?
I have always planned on getting a Road ID, but maybe this is the better option.
